It's really a big shame that Colin and Christie aren't on this race. I'd love to be the biggest competition in TAR All-Star.

Well, here's hoping for my dear team Dave/Lori and John Vito/Jill to be in it.

How do you get tea out of a keyboard?? It is all your fault sups--that is hysterical!
I thought the original reference was funny (I think they were referring to no expedition type clothing supplied, but it came across a little differently in translation!)--but yours is the best! : :rotf:

And good job starting the timeline mwooden--I think if they are that close they MUST be going to Antarctica.

I was thinking La Paz, Bolivia would make a good stopover between Quito and Ushuaia--has TAR been there before?

It is in between geographically, is at a very high elevation, is scenic, has interesting ruins, and greeters!

I have two opinions on the pictures
1. the guidos are in first place and ahead of everyone else
or
2. they are in last and fighting to catch back up

my reasons
the picture taker is a TAR fan (admitted) and knows teams
he stated he was going to stick around the area and look for more teams
and report back. if he doesnt have more to report in the next day
then 1. or 2. is correct
hopefully he  post's more pictures of teams he spots :jumpy:
i really hope the guidos arent lagging behind again like the last leg in  season 1

They're not necessarily way ahead or behind -- they're at an Internet cafe, not the airport. The other teams might not go to the cafe.

ah yes grasshopper
but remember alot of countries do not allow the booking of airline tickets
at the airport only online or thru a travel agency ;D

Yep, but there are three Rapipagos alone in Ushuaia -- not to mention other internet cafes and travel agents... teams could have spread out pretty far.  ;)

Hi, me again. A few more informations:

The locutario where the pics were taken was at the corner of 25 de Mayo and San Martin in Ushuaia. It was taken at about 19h15 Ushuaia time (17h15 NYC). The sunset here is at about 22h15.

The girl is definetly not Emily. Sorry guys. It was just a Fern.

It still takes a long time to get to Antarctica from Ushuaia, by boat at least (a few days). So if they went to Antartica, it was by small planes.

I spent the last 2 days around town and haven't seen anybody else. I also went to most of the landmarks in Ushuaia yesterday evening to try to find a pitstop, detour or roadblock, without sucess. And Ushuaia is not a big town, so I guess they just stopped in town to call. The others might have gone straight to the airport. Bill and Joe probably arrived by bus because the buses around here drop you at the corner of Maipu and 25 de Mayo. The locutario they were in would be the first you see after being dropped from a bus. So I guess the pitstop was eather in the Tierra del Fuego Natl Park, or maybe at Estancia Harberton (the biggest and oldest estancia in Tierra del Fuego, typical TAR pitstop).

I think they already had their plane tickets out of Ushuaia to probably Buenos Aires. It's a pain to get out of Ushuaia by eather plane or bus these days. You have to book way in advance. So it would be impossible for 8-9 teams + crew to just hop on a plane. So I guess the tickets were handed to them, with 2 or 3 departing times.

I was thinking about going to the airport but in a way didn't want to be a stalker. The crew was definitly aware I took pictures and that I was listening. They would have known I was there to spoil it all and I probably would have had some problems with them.

Finally, the guidos didn't look like they were in a really good mood. They had their serious face. It doesn't really indicate anything but they might have been at the middle or the back of the pack
.

And puddin    that's how hard I laughed this AM with sups naked plane ride!

Or they might have just gotten off a cramped plane after freezing their butts off in Antarctica.  ;)

Let's say that they arrived at the Ushuaia airport by way of chartered flights from Antartica (that having been the Pit Stop).  The Guidos then hop on a bus-to-town at the airport to gather info while they wait for takeoff.  They could have picked up the fern at the airport.  The fern told them about the internet cafe.

It's just hypothetical.   :jam:

One of us could have hopped a flight from JFK to South Africa and beat them!

This is when it would cool to be rich.   :snicker:

I would just dispatch one RFF detective to each major airport.  "Your tickets are electronic, just checkin and remember to bring a digital camera, extra batteries and your USB cable."  The flights would be round trip unless you determine the next city...

everyone seems to have sources ..what the hell?

just rampant rumors
First off let's get to who we know. My sources tell me that five teams were spotted in a Miami airport heading for South America. Those five teams are Joe and Bill (Team Guido TAR 1), John Vito and Jill (TAR 3), Charla and Mirna (TAR 5), and of course Rob and Amber (TAR 7). There was also another male/female team but there was no definite confirmation on their identity. According to another source the mysterious fifth team is none other than Jon and Kris, one of my all time favorite teams. It is unknown if this group was in the lead pack or if they were in the back. Since most seasons of TAR start off in the states, I would bet that Miami is the first leg of the race.

I have been getting emails left and right with speculation and info. After gathering all the information together here is who I believe some of the other teams are:

Kevin and Drew (the frat boys TAR 1): both have been missing from their jobs and were asked to appear in season 8 as the hot dog vendor/clue givers.
Uchenna and Joyce (TAR 7)
David and Mary (Team Kentucky TAR 10)
Dustin and Kandice (The Queens, the Barbies, the blondes, TAR 10)

Of course with every season there are misleading spoilers. Here is a list of possible teams that may have made it. There is no creditable evidence yet, just rampant rumors:

Oswald and Danny (TAR 2)
Tian and Jaree (TAR 4)
Dave and Lori (TAR 9)
Ray and Yolanda (TAR 9)
Emily and Nancy (TAR 1

Another loose end:
If you bring up the Dade permit site that Kogs found, follow the dialog pages as if you were applying for a permit and enter the name "rt technologies" when asked, you get the name of
Robin Tedesco (also spelled Robyn) as a contact. Since there's no related business with that name, it's probably just a little humor on their part.
