Wow, nice resolution! The star-shaped recess must be the fort. What do you think this is? A key or an inscription, maybe?

The thing about the star is that in order for something to print on the paper it has to be in the raised plane.  So...maybe they will be finding a star-shaped artifact that they are supposed to stick in the recess and then make the print.

I think that scripty part is some map logo.

Google Maps says it would take 9 hours 45 minutes to drive from the B&B pit stop to the nearest town by the Lexington mine (Norris, Montana).  So from a 2:20 am start they would arrive at about 12:05 pm.

30 min to get the next clue to Wood Bottom.

5 hours 9 min to drive to the river  (Norris to Loma) It ain't no 150 miles.

Looks like they should have been able to get there by 5:44 pm.  5:30 pm ?  :groan:

Fat Chance !

The NBC site puts the lexington mine (there's several with that name) in Butte, and the photos do match the ones provided to Magical Elves prod. (history in the middle of the page here--Montana Tech is now using it for their students). The distances stay about the same, but you're right the times are off. If the first-place team got there at 5:30 and the Hanlons spent 11 hours at the mine, they must have used a transporter to get to Wood Bottom.

Therefore we know that the pesky preacher and his kinfolk will still be in the race on July 17. Dag gang I thought we would lose them earlier in Boston perhaps.  No such luck.

If the postings over at Sucks are accurate, Global TV in Canada messed up and aired ep 5 tonight; the Hanlons are out.

So I hear next week ...July 10th

:spoiler:

*

*

* last warning

ToBeCont ..

It is a non-elimination round "to be continued".
 Also, after crossing the
swamp, the host asked every team to eliminate one
member, so now there are two members in each team, just like The Amazing
Race.

From rabint6 over at Sucks regarding the episode that was shown in Canada on Monday

Quote
1. The reward is 30,000 dollars to the first team to retrieve the 4th clue during the swamp hunt

2. The Ex CIA's win it

3. The twist is this. After opening the 3rd of 4 chests in the swamp, the teams are told that they have to take a boat ride to the next one. But, the boat only holds 2 people. They must leave one person behind. The 2 team members on the boat must decide wether to send one person back to get their 3rd person or not. If they choose to go back, they fall 3 hours behind. If they choose not to go back.....the 3rd person is off the team permanently.
(not going to say what team does what)

4. Team Eliminated??? no one. the episode ends with a To Be Continued.......

I'm confused now which comes where?  Tease for July 10 says first new york city and then the swamp romp.  Notice for July 17 says swamp romp.  So which episode did Canada run this week ep 4 or ep 5? Are they one week ahead, or two weeks ahead?

Too many confusing questions.

Forgot to add:

The longer this show runs, the more NBC screws up!  No wonder the audience is down to 5.2 million and running last in its time period. (according to Nielson ratings published today!)rgot to add:

If anybody who's gotten a sneak peek at ep 5 can confirm:
I was thinking about the "mansefield" entry at IMDB and thinking maybe it was misspelled. There's a Mansfield Plantation in Georgetown, SC, complete with its own swamp, boat and foot trails, some matching fencing (see below--I know, it's not much) and a film-friendly staff.

Spoiling by accident: right city, wrong plantation . So "mansefield" is still out there.
There's no ep 5 thread, so let me throw in a few nit-picks here: first, as an NBC poster pointed out, Whitman never joined the army  (he worked in D.C. as a nurse); second, the author here (well-documented but long article) makes a strong case that the "crypto-quilt" business started in the 1980s, not the 1850s.

Not much suspense - although NBC sure wants us to think there is - on whether the Genuses come back for their third member.  We see all three of them again in the Star Spangled Museum in Baltimore and in Paris.

We also know that the Smoothies get to London, and that the MissUSA trio get to what looks like the catacombs in Paris. And the Airforce also get to the Baltimore location.

So that leaves the Fighting Fogels, the ex-CIA, and the Browns to hit the dust next.

Must be a misprint on the date: Monday would be July 24.  So Six Teams finally get to travel to Europe.  That means that the Browns have sunk in the swamp.  Fogels should be the next to go.

I don't know what that could be about  ???, other than the Masons; a few of the FF were Masons, but most were not. Anyway, here's a Pigpen cipher generator.
