Phil: Bangkok. Along the banks of a canal, a temple, the 11th pitstop in a race around the world.

Although 3rd to arrive, Ray/Yo caught a lucky break and won the Travelocity prize, vacation of a lifetime, and a night in a luxurious hotel. They saw their trip on the internet and lazed in luxury.

Will Ray/Yo continue working well together?
Will BJ/T maintain their lead after climbing out of last?
Will E/J keep their focus and take home the prize?

BJ/T, 11:18 pm, CLUE: Take a taxi to the province of Iyuthayah (sp?), search for the Royal Krall.

E/J, 1:21 am departure.
Ray/Yo, 1:28 am.

Elephant Kraal Pavilion: 4 am to 6 pm.
BJ/T set up camp nearby.

E/J arrive at the Kraal second place. Ray/yo arrive third, all three teams there before 4 am.

Ray: Wassup, Cricketboys?
Elephant raises a leg.
E/J: Do they go dancing?
At 4 am ...
Yo: It's huge! Watch for the poo!
Teams get the "T Mobile Sidekick" CLUE: Fly to Tokyo, and drive to Shibuya.
Phil: They'll have to scan the many big screen TVs for the hint of the location of the next clue.

Ray: I'mma write that down.
Yolanda lets out a squeal at the thought of Tokyo.
The hippies do the usual comedy routine, and the Frats do the usual snarking.

BJ/T: Japan is the perfect place for us to go right now!
T: I have a Japanese girlfriend. Other teams must be weeping right now.
E/J: Tyler speaks Japanese, but we don't.

First to the airport, Ray/Yo.
Woman: United #9, 6:40 am.

BJ/T second inside.
Woman: Go one floor downstairs.

E/J arrive third to the airport.
Woman: United #9, 6:40 am.

BJ/T see the toteboard, and need to buy tickets for United.
Woman: Flight very, very full.
E/J lament the fact that Tyler speaks Japanese.
Ray: The hppies always manage to finagle something.
Woman, to Ray and to E/J: Yes, you are on the flight.

Tyler: There's no way we can get on that flight? We're screwed.

Ray/Yo and E/J board.
Tyler: It's so important! Omigod!
The plane takes off WITHOUT THEM.
They go to Thai Airlines, get an 8:20 departure.
BJ: They have an hour and a half lead. We have to catch up.
Tyler: We'll speak Japanese when we get to Japan!

Phil: When teams land, they must make their way to the parking lot at the Hotel Nikko, find marked cars, then drive to Shebuya. They must scan the big TV screens for the one flashing the location of their next CLUE.

Dusk, Plane 1 lands, Ray/Yo and E/J head for the hotel in the same bus.
Ray, observing the step down in cars: Not a benz, but it's still good. We're the first ones out the gate!
E/J stop to get a map, first. They head off to the expressway.
Teams driving ... Gotta love the steering wheels on the "wrong" side! Yolanda gets out, they ask directions to the expressway. It was right in front of their faces, but they couldn't read the signs.

Ray tries to read another sign at a fork in the expressway. He goes to the right.
BJ/T get into town.
E/J find Shebuya, 1st place.
Ray/Yo ask directions again. They're on the wrong freeway.
Ray: My great navigator!
Yo: Drive ME!!
Ray: Driving Miss Crazy.
Again, more directions.
Ray conf: We can't understand what anybody's saying!

E/J stand in the square and check the bazillion big screens, looking for a clue. There: "FIND HACHIKO."
Phil: The name of a statue, to honor a dog in Japanese lore. They find this man, they get the next clue.

E/J quickly find Hachiko.
CLUE: Detour.
Phil: Maiden or Messenger.
Maiden, 7 mile drive to tea garden, carry a maiden in a cart to a tea ceremony.
Messenger, travel 200 yards, pick up folding bikes and messenger bags w/parcels. Assemble the bikes, deliver packages to 2 separate buildings listed, return to the original parking lot.

E/J choose Maiden, to "meet some ladies today."

BJ/T second to Shebuya.
They find the Hachiko clue, then get the clue from Hachiko.
Tyler, of course, speaks Japanese.
BJ: The gardens might be simpler.
Tyler: But we can ask directions on the bikes.

E/J run to the nice young lady's traditional cart, and hoist it up on their shoulders.
E: Hopefully we got a hot one!

BJ/T start putting folding bikes together.
Address: Shujuku Park Tower.
Tyler: I've been to the building!
They take off, riding bikes.

Ray, still driving blind: Everyone will have problems, though. This place is confusing.
Yo: But we gotta do better than this.

Man gives Yolanda directions in broken Japan-English.
E/J carry the maiden to the destination. She greets them with the CLUE.
E: SOrt of like a naughty fantasy come true!
CLUE: Make your way to Capsule Land Hotel.
Phil: Sleeping in capsules, rather than rooms, is common in Tokyo, where space is at a premium.

BJ/T reach the Tower.
Tyler and BJ ride bikes into the lobby.
I'm amazed they weren't accosted for doing that ...
They deliver package #1.

Yo: Make a left ...
Ray: I'll make a right at this next u-turn.
Finally the find the building!
Now they look up, see "Find Hachiko."

BJ/T take their bikes into another building.
GDH Gonzo ...
Package #2 delivered.
They bike back to the parking lot.
Ray/Yo find Hachiko, get CLUE.
Ray: I'd rather hop in the taxi (and carry the maiden).

E/J get directions to the Capsule Hotel.
Taxi driver tries to explain.
E/J again lament that the hippies speak Japanese, and they don't.

BJ/T, receiving CLUE: Arigato!

Ray complains about the heavy maiden-in-cart.

Man in hotel: Welcome. Good evening.
Sign: 9:00 am Departure.
E/J: Dude! We're sleeping in THESE!? (capsules)
J: I hope I don't wake up and it's 1972.
Ray does a little Army march cheer or summat, trying to get the maiden to her destination.
Finally, they huff and puff, and deliver her.
Yolanda to maiden: WHat are you doing in there?
Ray: You're much heavier than you look!!

Ed. note: Ray is getting all the good lines tonight. Good sign, or bad??

BJ/T arrive at the capsule hotel, will leave 9:15 am.

Ray/Yo arrive last, will leave hotel at 9:30.

Ray opens a door, and finds E/J, BJ/T celebrating in bathrobes.
Ray: We got caught in traffic.

E/J depart 9:00 am.
CLUE: Drive to Fujiku Highland.
Phil: This park, with some of the world's biggest rollercoasters, is a thrill-seeker's paradise.

BJ/T leave 9:15.
Tyler: Fujiku Highland is far. Let's go. This is the Japan leg we dreamed about!

Ray/Yo leave 9:30, happy to only be 15 minutes behind.
Ray: Please let us find someone who speaks ENGLISH!
Man tries to give Ray directions.
He looks confused.
Yo: Fujiku?
Man: Fujiku.
Yo: All right. Thank you so much.

They get in the cars, and drive in the direction they think will get them to Fujiku.

In the distance, Mt. Fuji. Teams marvel at its sight.
Ray: Fuji-Ku! Fuji-Ku! (rhyming as if with "Suzie-Q")
Yo: You all right? 

E/J again lament the fact they don't speak Japanese.
Tyler again thrills in the fact that he speaks Japanese, which to him means they'll win the milllion.

BJ/T have caught up to within 3 car lengths.
E/J: Those damn language-knowing ...

Both teams find Fujiku.
E/J: Ray/Yo will be screwed.
ROADBLOCK: Who's ready to coast thru their day?
Phil: One person must experience 3 consecutive thrill rides. Pizza, Thembo, Fujiyama. They must maintain composure, find a man with a message around one of the rides. They must get off the 3rd, and tell the man what message they saw. If wrong, they have to do it all again.
Riding the first ride, exilirating.

Ray/Yo reach a tollbooth. They look in the bag for a token to go through the toll booth. They can't find one. They look inside the car. They search under seats. Ray gets out. The man only speaks Japanese.

Ray: Unbelievable.

COMMERCIAL.

Ray: UGH. I don't have my ticket.
Man: Over there.
Ray: I don't want to go to jail for going through without a ticket.
A man comes by, and they get to BUY one.
They get directions.
The man pats Ray on his ass. 
Ray: Oh, lord. Lemme get outta here. They don't do that where I'm from.

   

Tyler to locals: Touch my beard! Touch it!
He takes off in a rocket, with (Jeremy?) close behind.
T: I don't see anyting.
Getting off ...
J: I didn't see anything. I'll probably have to do them again.

Next ride, King of Coasters, Fujiyama.
Tyler tells Jeremy he saw something.
Tyler conf: I didn't, though.

They head downward ... WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

There it is, man, rock on!
Tyler sees it: Lake Yamanyaka (sp)??
CLUE, both teams: Drive to the next pitstop, Lake Yamanaka.
Phil: Once there, they must take a duck boat and paddle to the big swan, the pitstop. Last team to check in, may be eliminated.

Ray/Yo finally arrive at Fujiku Highlands, and quibble.
Yo: You don't have to talk to me that way.
Ray: We're here. You happy?
Yo: Just shut up.
CLUE: Who's ready to coast through their day?
Yo: It has to be me.

That confirms the 6-Roadblock limit, no?

Yolanda takes ride #1. She has trouble keeping her eyes open.

Tyler tells BJ about trying to throw Jeremy off.
Jeremy tells Eric how Tyler tried to "be sneaky."
E: I hate the hippies.

Yo takes the 2nd ride. Whew!
She finishes the 2nd, and starts the 3rd. WHOOOO!!!
Downward, sees Lake Yamanaka sign.
She claps. She gets out.
Man gives her the clue.

Ray: Drive to the next pitstop. Let's go.
Ray tries to get directions.
Man: Right.
Ray: He said right, but pointed left.
While riding in the back of the car, Yo: I needed that break! I hate your driving!

BJ/T and E/J a car length apart arriving at the Lake.
They haul ass.
E/J: Hope the hippies are ready for a paddle race!!
Both teams run their way down the dock, jump into paddle boats.

They pedal with their legs.
Pedaling madly, hippies.
Keeping steady pace, frats.

Man: Welcome to Lake Yamanaka, Japan.
Phil: BJ/Tyler, you are team #1. Good news. You've each won a TMobile sidekick and 3 years' service.
Phil: Eric/Jeremy, you're team #2. I had no ideas that you could get out pedaled by the hippies.
Both teams snark at each other on the Bathmat.
Phil: Are you thinking about what might happen at the very end?
J: BJ/T are playing dirty. Tyler tried to lie to me today, to throw me off.
T: You guys are tough competition. We're just trying to get a leg up.
J: Last leg, it's on.
Man: Welcome to Lake Yamanyaka.
Phil: Ray/Yolanda, you're team #3, the last team to arrive. This is a non-elimination leg, and you're still in the race. But I need to take all your money, possessions, except the clothes on your back and passports. Tough, in a country where you don't speak the language, but you could go to a million dollars.
Ray: We're gonna win the check.
Yo: We're racing for the million.
Ray conf: We're good at being underdogs. We've had flashes of greatness. If a million dollars isn't enough to race for ...
Yo: What is?

Phil: Lake Yamanyaka. Nestled at the base of Mt. Fuji. The big swan boat was the 12th pitstop in a race around the world. No more eliminations. This leg is a 3-way race for $1MM.

BJ/T, 12:18 am. CLUE: Fly to Anchorage, Alaska.
Phil: Fly more than 12,000 miles, choose a marked car for the next clue.
They head back to land, leave 2000 yen for Ray/Yolanda.
They scrape the ice off their car.

Eric/Jeremy, 12:20 am. E/J fake subtitling their own English-speaking voices, a la Kung Fu movies.
BJ/T read a confusing looking sign.
E/J gamble the different route.

Ray/Yolanda, 3:01 am.
Card: Be mine. Love, hippies.
Ray conf: They think we're down and out. But we'll win this last leg and the million dollars.
Yolanda: Two thousand!
Card: This is for last night. 
Yo: We still need more money.
This time, Yo drives.

BJ/T, First to the hotel, trying to find a shuttle.
They ask to use the internet.
Tyler: If anyone asks, act like you don't understand them!
E/J arrive 2nd.
E: DO you guys have internet here?
Man: Yes.
E: Can we use the internet while we wait?
Man: We dont' have internet here.
E: I thought you said you had it. Hmmmm.
Man smirks.

Ray, at restaurant: Anybody speak English?
Yo: Can anybody give us YEN?
Ray wears a sighn, "YEN."
A Japanese buisness man gives them several hundred and dances with them.
Ray: Aiight! Peace out!
In the car, Ray: We got a chance.

BJ/T, internet, find NorthWest Airlines flight to Anchorage. Confirmed reservation.

E/J get on a phone and try to find a flght. They choose Air Nippon.
BJ/T act like they just arrived.
E/J: The hippies are about an hour behind us right now!
Eric: You tricked us. No internet in the hotel, which is really weird.
Men behind the counter snicker ...

Boarding a bus, BJ/T and E/J.
J: No sign of Ray and Yolanda.
Ray/Yo ask directions.
The bus drops E/J and BJ/T at the airport.
The teams go in different directions.

Daybreak.
Hotel Nikko Narita.
Ray: We were hoping to see other teams, but you know?
They board the shuttle.
Ray: When they see us, it'll be like they saw a ghost.
E/J: Going to Taipei, then Anchorage. Arriving 7:50 am.
E/J board the first flight,9:20 am.

Right now, BJ/T are booked on a 3:05 Northwest flight.
They swap out for a 12:00 departure. They'll ALSO go thru Taipei and arrive 7:50 am in Anchorage!

Ray/Yo make it to the airport.
Yo: Earliest flight?
Woman: 9:00 pm, arrives Anchorage 2:40 pm.
Ray: Pass on it.
Yo: Lots of seats available.
They check Japan Air.
Yolanda: Still hope.

In Taipei, E/J wait for their connection.
Ray/Yo find the 7:50 arrival into Anchorage via Taipei.
They approach ticket agents.
Woman: The flight will arrive 7:50, but the flight to Taipei is already closed.
Ray: Nobody told us about this flight.
Yo: You sure there's no way?
Women: No.

On the plane, Tyler: Ray and Yolanda? NO WAY!
Ray: This is the first time we're actually happy to see you guys!

Flight 2 lands in Taipei.
All three teams await the Anchorage connection.
E, conf: Not too happy right now to see any of those four.

They all board the Anchorage flight.
Scenes of winter sports.
Tyler: Back in America!
Ray: It's cold as hell and snowing.
BJ/T, CLUE: Drive yourselves to Mirror Lake.
Phil: That's the recreation area where they will find the next clue.
Ray/Yo leave in 2nd.
E/J leave in 3rd, get directions.
Tyler: Sweet! Alaska's not so cold, hee-hee ...
Ray/Yo ask directions and drive through frozen tundra toward the Lake.

There it is .. Seward Highway.
Yo: Just in case we missed a sign, let's ask.
Man: Turn right on Seward Highway and just stay on it.

Frat boys take over 2nd place from Ray/Yo.

Daybreak.
Tyler: The north pole!
ERic/Jeremy follow a couple of car lengths behind hippies.
Both teams arrive at the Mirror Lake turnoff.
They get out.
CLUE, both: DETOUR.
Drill it or Deliver it?
Phil: Drill, traverse this frozen lake, set up an ice fishing camp of 10 holes with an auger. Push one of these shacks and cover at least holes with it. Once the ice fisherman approves, they get the clue.
Deliver, navigate a pilot to deliver medical supplies to a certain point, deliver to Girdwood Station for the next clue.

E/J choose to build a fishing hole.
Pilot tells BJ/T the weather won't support flying to Girdwood right now.
BJ/T start with the augers.

One hole dug, each team.
E/J take a slight lead.
Tyler: We have four! (Umm, they have 2 ... lol)

Ray is lost again, driving.
They stop at a gas station in a snowstorm.
Ray: We gotta keep grinding.

BJ/T first to eight holes.
E/J first to all ten.
E/J start pushing the big house as BJ/T finish their last few holes.
Tyler: I'm nothing but skin, bones and attitude!
Pushing, Eric: We're so close, and they're not even finished (drilling) yet!

One last push ... Man: All right.
CLUE: Drive yourself to Kincaid Park, find the chalet.
Phil: Once here, put on snowshoes, use a map to find the next clue inside the park.
Jeremy: I thought my biceps were gonna pop out!
BJ/T push the house. Man approves. Off they drive.

Ray/Yo finally find Mirror Lake.
They see the hippies running away from the lake.
They'll drill and push.
Ray: I'm from Jacksonville, where it's warm. A Flawda boy in cold weather is like a fish outta water.
Yolanda struggles with the augur.

E/J: They'll follow us the whole way!
BJ/T find a shortcut on their highway map.
T: This is where we'll catch up!
FInally drilled 10 holes, Ray/Yo push the house.
Yo: Oh, my goodness!
Man approves. Off they go.

Yolanda: If we'd had two Ray's it would have been easy.

At Kincaid Park, E/J grab snowshoes and poles.
BJ/T arrive 2nd.
E: Oh, crap. The hippies.
BJ/T somehow miss the standing snowshoes and poles alongside the wall.
BJ runs up stairs. No luck.
BJ/T downstairs, run through the snow alongside the wall with the equipment.
They don't see it! 
BJ: Son of a biscuit!

Tyler: Gotta find the snowshoes! Can we get some snowshoes!? They see them, and realize they'd walked past them. Off they go.

Ray, driving: Any mistake could be the difference between the million dollars and nothing. We gotta keep going forward.

The two lead teams search the grounds for the clue, in the heavy snow.

E/J, CLUE: Fly to your final destination city, Denver.
Phil: The mile high city. Once there, travel by taxi 30 miles to the Clear Creek History Park in Golden, for the next clue.

BJ/T have to go back to square one, because they didn't follow the directions on the map.
E/J ask Alaska Cab for a ride to the airport.
E: Hopefully we can keep our lead!
BJ finds the cluebox.
Of course, they're thrilled to fly back to Denver.
BJ: I can't believe we walked right past the snowshoes!
They head off in a taxi.

Ray: We need to hurry up!
It's getting dark ...

Airport, E/J.
Woman: Frontier leaves 11:50.
E/J take that flight.
Conf: It'd be great if we didn't see the hippies or Ray/Yo. Hope they're frozen.

BJ/T book a flight from the cabbie's cell phone.
Ray/Yo finish at dusk, get the CLUE, and head back.
Ray: It ain't over yet!
They catch a cab, now nighttime.

Tyler: You find anything international?
E/J: You never know!
Tyler: Let's follow them.
Tyler: What's a race around the world without the frat boys?

E/J and BJ/T play a psych-out game where they give fake flight information.
Tyler seems to have hurt feelings. 

Ray sees the other two teams at the airport.
Ray: Bet on black.   

[Tank]

All teams on the same flight again!! OMG!

Phil: All 3 teams now making their way to Denver.
In Denver, teams haul ass running to cabs.
Taxis will drive them 30 miles, to Golden, CO.

First to Golden, E/J.
They look for a clue in the shed. They find it.
CLUE: Go back to where you started, Red Rocks Park.
Phil: Six miles away, it's here that they'll find their next clue.

E/J take a cab back to Red Rocks.
E: We only have 5 minutes on the hippies. Gotta go fast.
BJ/T get the clue. They head for Red Rocks.
Last, Ray/Yo see BJ/T leaving.
BJ/T cab heads for Red Rocks.
Yolanda laments that they can't find the clue.
Can't they see the bootprints in the snow?

E/J, conf: Ray/Yo are pretty far behind right now.

BJ/T find the sign for the entrance.
Both teams are close together.
E/J, CLUE: Roadbock.
Phil: One personmust run through 285 flags, and find one flag for each of the 9 foreign countries they've raced through. They must place the flags in the order the've visited the countries. There's a placard for reference, but it contains some flags that are incorrect. Their teammate may guide them, but not physically assist. Then they must run to the Amazing Bathmat. First team here wins the Race.
Eric finds the Brazil flag.
He heads for the Japan flag.
Tyler: I smell Phil! Working in the shadows!
CLUE: Who remembers the most about the places you've been?
Tyler: You do, BJ.
Jeremy tries to help Eric.

BJ puts Brazil into the hole.

Eric #2 and #3 flag entries are WRONG.
BJ #2 and #3 are also WRONG.
Tyler: All these flags (singing) are bringing back memories!

Meanwhile, Yo: In here! The henhouse!
They find the CLUE.

Eric has several correct flags toward the end, but still #2 and #3 wrong.

BJ runs and grabs more flags. He has only #1 right.

Eric places Greece.

BJ puts another one wrong.
Tyler: We can win this if you run!

Eric makes another mistake.
E: Thailand. Thailand. What color's Thailand?
Eric: I'm ready.
Woman, reviewing all 9: Incorrect.
Eric to J: What do you want me to change?
BJ gets Japan, finally.
Tyler tries to help BJ find Russia.
Eric and Jeremy discuss the order of flags
Eric now has #1-5 correct, and mistakes thereafter, but #8 and 9 correct.
BJ has #1, 8 and 9 correct, others wrong.
Jeremy tells Eric to go for the green/yellow/red for Thailand.
Woman: Incorrect.
Jeremy: Change that one back, then.
BJ has one short of correct.
BJ enters his last flag.
Woman: Yes! THAT IS CORRECT!
Jeremy: The hippies got it.

They run toward the Bathmat.
All the other teams gathered, clapping.

Tyler: Come on, BJ! Come on!
BJ/T run and wave to the other teams.
Phil: Five continents, Nine countries, More than 59,000 miles, BJ and Tyler, you are the winners of The Amazing Race and the $1 million dollars.

And here is some brief rankings.

BJ and Tyler, out of all the winning teams has three records to their name.

1.  Out of the Winning teams they have the lowest season ranking with an average 2.33 if you count the double leg as one leg.  Or they tie with Rob and Brennan if you count the double leg as two legs (2.46).

2.  Out of the winning teams they have won the most legs with 5., next is Chip and Kim with 4.

3.  They tie with Flo and Zach has the only team not be non eliminated twice and win (and their's was with mugging).

So though my team didn't win.  I am certainly happy that it was a team that did exceedingly well in the race.
