I have lost track of the details but that's what I remember.  And the Red Rocks website posted that they were closed for a private function that morning (I believe it was Saturday Dec 3rd).

Frontier arrived in Devnver from Anchorage at 5:59 am (scheduled 6:15)
United arrived in Denver from Anchorage at 6:25 am (scheduled 6:34)
NW arrived in Denver from Anchorage at 8:48 am (scheduled 8:11)

Never mind my post above !! I missed this  :waves:

How about this spot at Red Rocks (for the cluebox location and taxi shots).

I think you did it again Chateau.  But I don't think TPTB are going to give any hints as to what the racers have to do before they get to the ampitheater.

Okay, I have lurked on this board for a few years and this is my first attempt at a spoiler.
My brother in law works for Alaska Airlines in Anchorage, and about half an hour ago he saw 2 guys go running through the airport with a camera guy and a sound guy following them. The only description I could get out of him was that they were 2 dudes dressed alike in matching gray sweaters and blue Adidas shoes, mid 20's, and they were looking for Northwest Airlines. They spoke to a native Alaska woman in her 50's who also works there and said they were headed to Denver. They went first to Northwest counter, then Continental, then back to Alaska Airlines.

Puddin, to rehash a little of what I asked Giantsfan that evening:  The sighting  was around 5:30 to 6:00 pm  local time.  The best flight was Frontier which didn't leave until 11:10 pm.  The catch is that the Denver flight is Frontier's only flight of the day and Fontier doesn't open their counter until later in the evening.

I hope all racers checked with a travel agent beforehand.

(United left at 11:30 pm)

Found where Ray & Yolanda are walking in Shibuya-ku (a little west of the actual Shibuya Crossing).  They are near the Shibuya 109 fashion building crossing.  They are heading in the direction of the Shibuya Crossing (and possibly the Hachiko statue).

Lord, the money I would pay to be on the Amazing Race.

Anyway, maybe we will have another Romber moment like in TAR7. I still say that if Uchenna and Joyce hadnt made that flight attendant let them on the plane, Romber would have won. Not saying im a Romber fan or anything.

Ive been analyzing the pictures more and more. Also, I dont think the winner of this race is going to come down to a plane ride, I think its gonna be the final task before the finish line.

so much to read through , sorry if this was posted already .....

the stage was set for the teams to arrive before noon ( btw kudos to Dedwards , this was a really good spoiler )

Dec 3rd , Finish-line spec from TWoP by Dedwards

I did some detective work and called Red Rocks. I should not have bothered, the Red Rocks Online website practicly gives it away and the gal I talked to paused when I mentioned TAR by name. Then just repeated it was closed for a "private function" from 6am to noon.
From the web site :
Amphitheatre to be Closed this Saturday
Due to a private function, the Amphitheatre and Visitor Center will be closed to the public this Saturday morning, December 3, 2005. The Amphitheatre will reopen at approximately Noon. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Whatever the final task is, I bet they go through that tunnel (see satellite image) to the parking lot on the other side and complete the task there.  That shot of Ray & Yolanda may be them on the trail that shows up in the satellite image.  It goes to the bottom of the amphitheater.

For sure we see the teams enter the amphitheater and have to run all the way up the stairs to Phil at the top (south end)

I think E&J get to the final task first (due to the lack of any marks in the snow at the cluebox from BJ&T's taxi) but the difference is not enough to let them win.  The final task will involve using their brains and for that BJ&T will wiz right by them.

I can't wait!   :jumpy:

Just some quickies:

I concur that it looks like the Hippies are having trouble getting an early flight to Tokyo; they seem to be at the Thai Airways counter since there is a sign over Tyler's shoulder that says that they now feature non-stop flights to New York, and Thai Airlines recently inaugurated non-stop service from Bangkok to JFK a 16hour and 30 minute flight compared to one stops through Tokyo taking up to 23 hours! Also it looks like Tyler hasn't picked up a windbreaker yet which he has when the leave Tokyo.

Looks like the teams arrive in Tokyo at night or at least after sunset.  Must go through city to find various places.

Detour task may be ride mini-bikes through down town and deliver stuff (Looks like DHL messenger bags - another blatant commercial tie-in a la duracel batteries, kodak cameras, and all the rest) Not sure of the other task yet.

Next day looks like they have to drive south to Five Lakes area.  Can anyone identify the logo on the guard booth at which Ray is asking directions:  it looks like JH sort of, but obviously japanese of some sort.

Day spent in Fujiyama amusement park.  We see teams riding two different roller coasters (seats are different) but only Jeremy, Tyler and Yolanda on one such ride and again these three only on the piazz wheel (never in a thousand years would you find me on that).  So is this the ROADBLOCK?  One team member has to ride two different rides or only the wheelly thing?

Race to the pit stop through the park with The Hippies arriving first and The Beach Boys close behind. That leaves RaYoYo to get mugged by Phil.  Note that the next morning probably driving back to Tokyo Airport, Yolanda is driving and Ray has a sign which looks like pleading for YEN around his neck.

Then it is off to Alaska.  Via Seattle to Anchorage and then back country by bush plane?  Eric and Ray are in a waiting room somewhere. Thankfully, TPTB spring for parkas and hats for the teams, especially the Hippies who would not last long.

Where does the trek by BJ on snowshoes and ski poles fit in.

Finally back in Denver, if the flight information is right then the Beach Boys will be 2 to 3 hours behind the others.  Note that when BJ and Tyler are running up the snow path toward what looks like somekind of buildings Tyler is jumping up and down as he has been all during the race when they know they are in the lead.

But why have a clue box by the entrance to Red Rocks unless it means somekind of task still lies ahead before they all meet on the red carpet.

My estimates of arrival times at the Marble Temple in Bangkok and therefore the leaving times 12 or 24 hours later:

The Hippies between 11:15AM and 11:30AM

The Beach Boys between 2:00PM and 2:30PM

RaYoYo between 2:30PM and 3:00PM

Hopefully, CBS will add more details during commercial on Survivor tonight.  The end of program promo was a record setter: almost a full minute of stuff!!

ON THE TWO-HOUR SEASON FINALE OF "THE AMAZING RACE 9,"
WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT

"Five Continents…Ten Countries…And More Than Fifty-Nine Thousand Miles" -- After traveling to five continents, 10 countries and more than 59,000 thousand miles, one Team will be the first to cross the Finish Line and take home the one million dollar grand prize, on the two-hour season finale of THE AMAZING RACE 9, Wednesday, May 17 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

As the Teams race through Japan, they quickly learn that little mistakes can cost big time when there are only three teams left and the finish line is within reach.  The last two legs of the Race around the world prove both mentally and physically grueling and it is a tight contest until the very end.

Something about gingerman's comments about the detour got me going on this search.  Turns out there is a DHL Express Center 3 minutes walk from the Yoyogi Station (north of the Shibuya Station) in Shibuya-ku.  Also, I found a bike rental area in Yoyogi Park (near Harajuku Station, north of Shibuya Station).  Coincidence  ???

Not sure if these are in any way connected, but sure sounds interesting.  :)

Believe I've identified where Tyler is riding his bike.  He appears to be riding NORTH thru Shubuya Crossing with the Q Front building (Starbucks store) in the background.

That would mean he must have started out near the Shibuya Station and is heading north toward Yoyogi Park.

I have been to Red Rocks dozens of times and could easily confirm pic's of the stage if someone posts them.

I have also heard that there was an image of another location about 15 minutes away from Red Rocks in the previews for next week. When I called an employee of that sight they said "I'm sorry, I can't answer any of your questions."

Can someone post a screen cap of what might be an old cabin, one-room school, or people in historic garb??

???Strange not one single mention of TAR during Survivor tonight.

I know the ratings are falling for TAR, show only pulls in less than half the audience for Survivor and about half the audience for NBC's Deal or No Deal. (Not even to mention A. I.) But is CBS giving up on its three-time Emmy winner :'( :'(

CBS mistake, in my opinion, is to run both Survivor and TAR during the same quarter. Two good reality shows in the same week by the same network is hard to promote.  To me, and I go back to my old days at J. Walter Thompson, you never want to program similar programs at the same time.  The best idea would be to alternate Survivor and TAR in the Thursday, 8PM to 9PM time period. Make this the Real Reality Hour on CBS with a great follow-up show like CSI to build and hold audiences.

Enough said.  Back to the pondering.  When and where do the teams pick up cars (Toyotas this time no doubt) so that they can drive down to the Five Lakes area?  We have day  time shots going south towards Mt. Fugi and nighttime (or very early morning) shots coming back north probably to NRT.  Talk about security; its like an armored camp and it takes a lot to just get in and out of the airport,so they may have to drop the cars off somewhere else and take the airport bus into the airport grounds.

There has to be a reason for a shot like this.  When inverted it is Lake Motosu (one of the Five Lakes) on the 5000 Yen note.

And if this is Lake Motosu then the time is 1:30 pm plus or minus an hour.

lol its so quiet , our last challenge ?

from banzai's link

When the `59ers arrived to prospect precious "color" in the gulches nearby, "Golden City" began as a mining supply hub, linking the stagecoach and freight trade with the other merchants and ranching homesteaders that fed, clothed, and entertained the area’s booming populations. The mid-1860s saw Golden City as the Capital of the Colorado Territory.

Its ranching and industrial heritage soon became intertwined with its 1870s railroad resources and by the 1890s, Golden had become a regional tourist destination. At Clear Creek History Park you will experience the work and play activities of Colorado’s mid-to-late 1800s pioneers. From gold panning, blacksmithing and wool spinning, to lasso throwing and one-room school sessions, visitors will actually have a hand in experiencing frontier life.
