Ferry arrives in Thompson's Bay (white arrow).  Likely spot for MoJo diving is Salmon Bay (blue arrow).  Perhaps they must ride their bikes (over 2.5 miles) from ferry to diving task.

sylla Says:

January 15th, 2006 at 2:36 pm
I can confirm that AR have been sited in Perth Western Australia in November, a friend works at the airport. There were about 4 teams noticed by staff. One of those teams has been given a fine because they had concealed food on them, they were trying to take chicken sandwiches off the airoplane.
Another team ( that had no money) was reprimanded for pushing to the front of the lines in customs.

With the teams in a customs line, it means they are entering Australia.  For travel within Australia, they would not need to go through customs.

EWWW then the Hippies are jerkoffs, i never  thought customs was so cut throat, nevermind a team has never lost the race being last out of customs and most of the time in recent seasons the producers start the teams together in the airport [i know they did it in Russia all teams ran out together aside from teams that exchanged money.  DD, BJT, FB, LML, RY all got out of the airport together.] and on the AR7 commentary Brian [or Greg] said in Peru they were all held us and then were told to go when the teams were together leaving the airport.

the hippies are clearly not nice guys. if this is true.

throwing in Turts spoilers , yeah some of his info is wrong but I do think he saw MOJO/RaYoyo/& E&J . Maybe the couple in their 30's were Production or BJT  ???
(IMDB)

Turt
i love the hipies and i know most of u do to but i work at a shoe shop were the pit stop was in australia in fremantle and i saw four teams run to the old jail which is the pit stop and i didnt see the hippies go past

Turt T

“am just going to say that australia is one of the last countries they go to and only four teams were spoted and none of them were the hippies but i know three out of the top four left because they asked me were the jail is and they are ray and yolanda the frat boys, josheph and monica but i couldnt identify the other team”

We may have to accept the fact that BJ and Tyler is not in the top 4 after all.

Turt adds

that is correct there were four teams at freo and only three came up to me in the afternoon but there was apparantley another team that came throuugh in the morning but i dint see them but i asked 2 weeks ago ,to someone i work with what did they look like and they said a couple in there late 30's which means it must be lake and michelle

The ferry schedule from Fremantle to Rottnest Island is below. It takes aprrox. 30 minutes to cross. All teams should depart Fremantle together and arrive on the island around 8 a.m. If a team can rent their bike, pedal to the lighthouse to get a clue, complete a detour (snorkel or ?) and return to the ferry by 10:30 a.m. they could have a huge lead on teams since the next ferry doesn't leave until 4 hours later! Perhaps they have more to do on the island to prevent any team from finishing that early? Having to wait for the 2:30 ferry would explain why they have time to sit and have lunch at the tearoom.

Depart Fremantle
7:30a.m, 9:30a.m., 11:30a.m., 3:30p.m.

Depart Rottnest Island
8:15a.m., 10:30a.m., 2:30p.m., 4:00p.m., 4:30p.m.

Does BJ's hair look wet in the vid cap meaning they did the snorkel detour? Their pants are rolled up but that could just be from riding the bikes.

Yea, the one day does not change things significantly.  It looks like they get that 8:15 ferry.  Because they are running and look like they think they have a chance.

And this could explain why the shoe salesperson did not see BJ&T.

From Puddin's Spoiler compendium:  In reference to November 23rd early morning arrivals on Rottnest.

Word has it the contestants began arriving at 3am with instructions to go to the top of the main lighthouse for their next clue.

If someone can post a Google Earth image of the city hall I may be able to set the time of the shot with Barry there.

That 3a.m. thing was bugging me. In another forum a local from Australia was fussing that the writer of that article is know for flubbing things up and that you can't get to the island  at 3.m. (ferries don't arrive until early morning). I guess TPTB could have chartered their own but we do have shots of Fran and Berry getting a room for the night in Fremantle (night of the 22nd).

About the ferry schedule -- that was the Rottnest Express company schedule that I posted. There are other ferry services and one I've found leaves the island at 9:15 a.m. I don't suppose they would have to take the same ferry company back?

IF they don't arrive until 8 a.m. then this ferry would be much more likely for the hippies to catch.

So F&B are out of the car and now they are lost , thanks guys & gals  :hearts:

Turt states that the prison is the pitstop ..don't know what he knows of if a team told him so ..maybe a virtual pitstop? TBC...
thats where the title comes from ' Do you Know how much Running I Did today, Phil? ' , based on Chateau's time estimates ..I call BJT for the title . Imagine doing all that hard work only to have Phil hand you another clue ......

Puddin, I get the impression that they are on foot. When they arrive back to Fremantle from the ferry they are less than 1 mile from the prison.

Turt states that the shoe store is the pitstop too????  I think he was just saying that Fremantle (in general) is the pitstop although it's possible that the prison is -- after the roadblock is complete.

Is there any way to get back with him to find out at what times he saw the teams and in which order?

ETA: Reading back - duh they are on foot --- I meant they don't have cars.

Just throwing this out there. Round House is a landmark in Fremantle about 1/4 mile from the ferry landing. It could be a place to grab a clue. The street shot was taken from Round House looking towards the Town Hall (which you can see in the distance).

That's an interesting photo. Several buildings in my hometown are new (or rebuilt) but support a facade to maintain that "old town" look. Speaking of which...
The area FrankenBarry was wandering around (at night) had that look about it. A possible scenario: the route card tells them to take the ferry, but the early-morning arrival leaves the teams bunched; FrankenBarry wander the streets of Old Town looking for a place to crash for a few hours before the first ferry and instead wind up in the company of gay male escorts.

For reference, if anybody needs it (following on links provided by Sups ):
  • Rotto settlement and island maps
  • Freo map
  • Perth Airport arrival board; there's a shuttle to Fremantle but I don't know if it operates in the early morning.

A FIERCE RIVALRY BETWEEN TWO TEAMS STARTS TO HEAT UP WHILE RACING THROUGH AUSTRALIA, ON "THE AMAZING RACE 9," ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT

"Do You Know How Much Running I Did Today, Phil?" --
A fierce rivalry between two teams starts to heat up when one duo tells the other that at the next opportunity to use the Yield, they will use it against them, on THE AMAZING RACE 9, Wednesday, April 26 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Teams travel to Australia and must ride a bicycle built for two in order to receive their next clue.
However, what should have been a fun three-mile bike ride turns into a heated argument for one team.
Meanwhile, on the drive to the airport, another team picks up a hitchhiker and takes some time to conduct international relations.
