Wally did the producers often ask for individual confessionals while at the pitstops or were they normally with the family in groups of four ?
[/quote]

95% of the time the interviews were done as a group.  Occassionally at the end they would hold one or two of us for some individual questions - normally related to questions about relationships within the team.

Thanks Wally , that helps with our spoiling this week  ;) .

Wally I don't know that we've asked you yet about the " mystery " Fast Forward at Volcan Poas , we all saw some of the teams with the Green Ticket in hand and we had a wild theory that the weather was too foggy for any of the teams to use it so it was never mentioned on the show , also we had a wild theory that your daughter Elizabeth had hurt her hand while doing the Fast Forward  ( sorry about that ) . So what was the real deal ?

I just have to chime in and say it's really an honor (and a thrill) to have such a prestigious TAR vet posting here.  Thanks so much, Wally.  And congratulations to you and your daughters for a Race well run.

P.S. We're not all young 'uns here. I think I'm a couple years older than you.

:hearts:  wally too.  what rmax said.

we're so glad to have you here. count me as another one in your age group and i have four kids to boot.  i live in the wrong country to participate in the race, sigh. so will have to live vicariously through other racers.

The fast forward was to travel back to San Jose, find a performing arts center, and have someone pose you like a mannequin.  The entire team would have to hold the pose without moving for I believe 30 minutes, otherwise you would have to start over.  With our group we felt someone would start laughing after about 10 minutes and decided not to do it.  Plus it was pretty far out of the way and if you weren't successful with it you would probably end up being eliminated.

Beth cut her hand on the dash to the bean yield with 4 other teams - tried dive under a railing and cut her hand on the ground.  They took some nice footage of her getting it stitched that night but didn't use it on the show.

rmax & cinni - if you are my age or older you have my sympathies.

Wally, you are a funny guy. Keep enlightening us of unused tape from the show if you are so inclined. Fascinating stuff.

What's nice about this board is the wide range in ages. From as old as 80 year old granma, all the way down to 8 year old Cole.
When all is said and done, there is nothing more to say.

Hey, Wally....so good to have you with us!   :hearts:

I am embarrassed to say that I've not listened to any of the podcasts yet...  :-[

but I am curious about your family of 5.  How old are the younger 2, and are they boys or girls?  How did they feel about not being able to be on TAR8 with the rest of you?

Bashful, YOU haven't listened to the podcasts yet????  Sacralidge (sp?) :groan:

Seriously, you should when you get the chance.  It's a great show.  Rob & Trevor are very entertaining and just crack me up.  :lol3: :lol3:

BTW, how are you doing today? :-*

Wally,  How about a couple of Bransen trivia questions?

1)  What was the only leg where Lindsay was shown driving?

2) During which leg did Beth begin driving to the pit stop but you were the driver when your team arrived at the pit stop?

Do you have any stories behind the answers?

I hope I'm up to the challenge.

1.  The only time Lindsay drove was on the trip from Taladega to Hattiesburg Mississippi.  We thought it was a good time for her to give Beth a break because it was all interstate.  The only problem was that we drove right into a rain storm which made it a little tense.  The funny story with this is that Lindsay was totally committed to mooning the Linz's during the trip, but when the opportunity was there on this leg she was driving and couldn't do it - so she harrassed Lauren into doing it threatening to stop and change drivers if she wouldn't do it.

2.  I may have taken over for Beth more than once, but the first time that I remember is after we left constructing the water-wheel house on our way to the farm in Lancaster, PA.  We didn't have any maps and had just stopped at a Pep Boys for directions and had lost a lot of time.  At that point I just figured that because we didn't have a map that I couldn't offer anything as a navigator and between Beth and I, I'm naturally the more aggressive driver (NYC cab driver aggressive) - therefore we made the switch.

Raises hand  :yaya:

Wally in EP5 we know the Paolo's took the Fast Forward and were successfull with the Godlewski's being saved by a NEL  , now in EP6 , this is the one I asked you about, at Volcan Poas another Fast Foward was available? ..so technically there were back to back Fast Forwards , although Phil's fake voiceover in describing the Fast Forward in EP5 told us that only one Fast Forward was available ( liar liar pants on fire Phil ) . I have no idea what my question is now that I typed this out  :lol3:

Oh now I remember , were there 2 back to back Fast Forwards ?

There were only two fast forwards and they were back-to-back in Panama and Costa Rica.  Phil's voiceover did say that the Panama fast forward was the only one on the race.

:( STUPID, STUPID STUPID I'm so stupid.

j/k great to have you here for real. Sorry about that above, a bad Chris Farley impression. It's even funnier when you hear it in a van down by the river.

a bad Chris Farley impression

10 minutes after I read this I listened to a voicemail someone left me at work doing an impersonation from Tommy Boy.  Strange karma.

Wally.  Great job on the trivia.

Rob and Trevor asked us RFF members for questions when they interviewed you back in December.  One of mine that didn't get asked was about your daughters begging for money at the Casino in Arizona.

As you know, Bertram Van Muster was one of the producers for the Cops TV show.  You lurking in the shadows while your girls were asking for money was classic Cops.  How did you and your family react when you viewed that for the first time?  I'm not saying you looked skeezy, but it was kind of funny.   :lol3:

Ok, Ok.  Another question, in honor of Danielle & Dani this season and of Rebecca Weaver during your season.  Have your daughters ever come home with skunk hair?

All right, how about this?  We are both too young to remember this first hand, but who were the Shortstop and Second Baseman double play combination of the 1959 GoGo White Sox?

Let's see.  My girls are very particular about their hair so never anything crazy there.

The night with the begging for money was an exciting one for everyone watching, as it was two episodes - one with us coming in last and not being eliminated and the 2nd beating out the Paolo's at the Dam near the Grand Canyon.  We all got a big kick out of the "Pimp Wally" edit to the show - Lindsay took one of the photoshop pictures of me and her with pimp & ho clothes on and uses it as her computer wallpaper.

Everyone knows that Luis Aparicio & Nellie Fox were the all-star short-2nd combination for the 59 Go-Go Sox.
