The color in that last picture (gold) makes it look like a shot from the road beneath the Viaduto Santa Ifigena. There's a skyscraper next to it (Mirante do Vale) with a heliport and a similar shape, but the markings are different than the one in the cap. Still looking...

It took alot of rewinding to catch the signage when Tyler is jumping through the air but it says www.aeromot.com. Looks like a hanger in Brazil.

AEROMOT INDUSTRIES, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, Avenida Das Industrias 1210, Porto Alegre, 90200-290

add .br to the internet address since it's in Brazil. So it's Grupo Aeromot http://www.aeromot.com.br/

Something to ponder:  do the teams just take a helicopter ride from some building downtown Sao Paulo around town and land at the Campo de Marte airport?  This does not make much sense unless at the Campo de Marte Airport they catch another plane which will take them somewhere else in Brazil.  Are BJ and Tyler jumping with joy because they made it in time for the first charter flight out of CdM?  OR, do they take a chopper all the way to Puerto Alegre, Brazil (about 530 miles) and we see them now in front of the Aeromot hanger in Puerto Alegre?  OR, arriving at CdM they then get charter to Iguanna Falls (one of the remarkable features of Brazil)?  Lots of possibilities.  But I am pretty sure the teams are not just taking the chopper on a joy ride around town.

is this the heliport? It's in front of the Mirante do Vale building.

I think you're right, gman. There're 2 heliports: a square one and a rectangle one. So Campo de Marte airport is something else.

this heliport is rectangle
this one is a square

far fetched idea :knock: maybe the teams are given a picture of a certain rooftop/helipad and the teams have to direct the pilot , when they find the right one they land , get the clue , return to the original start spot and then are rewarded with their next clue or whatever  :spy: ?

Hi y'all.  Long time lurker, first of many postings, hopefully.  :waves:

I agree with puddin's theory about the helicopter rides being the task.  My spin on this would be that the racers are required to use the helicopters in lieu of taxicabs to complete their tasks, as I haven't seen any cabs during the previews.

Hope to add my 2 cents to the spoiling this season.

far fetched idea
Not at all. Didn't Richard Branson do an airborne scavenger hunt during his show? We know that a couple of teams have arrived at Marte with yellow (presumably Detour) cards and without luggage. I can't find any shots of the same team on both the Viaduto and the choppers, so maybe it's a "ride or fly" detour.

Oh ride or fly , good idea Slowhatch ..Lisa / Joni and Yolanda /Ray  running on the bridge maybe even John & Scott from the TV guide picture? hard to say ..
Flying Wanda/Desiree ,Bj & Tyler , assume David & Lori per preview shots , Eric & Jeremy ( thanks to banzai ) ,Joesph & Monica  and another team in white shirts  ( not sure who it is see fuzzy pic below) ..
thats all I could think of without looking .

Welcome Boingo  :welcome:

From TAR5 on, teams have to sleep in a park in the first leg. If you see any park in Sao Paulo (Brazil), then it must be it. First leg should be a 3-day race too. Let's check out their clothes. Hope TPTB releases the vhs screener.

I may have identified the building, using puddins latest (higher resolution) vidcaps.  One of the helipad pix shows an antenna, not previously seen in lower res. photos.  Did some checking, and the only building I found with a helipad and antenna is São Luís Gonzaga building, Av. Paulista, Sao Paulo.

http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=119720

http://www.saoluisgonzaga.com.br/english/building/index.htm

The building web site shows pctures of the helipad that appear to match the vidcap (note number "5" on the helipad).

Edited to add: found building on Google Earth (see below).

Yay! Great job!  :jumpy:

Totally caught me off-guard that the helipad is GREEN? What's up with that?

Now we only have the square one left to solve...

There's a helipad on the roof of the small building (BankBoston) that Mon/daughter are walking past. (see links below), but it doesn't appear to be a close enough match to the vidcap.

It does look Green ? maybe we can blame it on the crappy video quality that the CBS webmonkeys put out  ?

OK maybe we called it to quick ..as Neobie pointed out Boingo's building has a Green helipad and the vidcap from the promo shows a blue one  ??? odd because most of the helipads that I see in Sao Paulo are blue except for the Emporis building ( go figure ) ..I'm just googled earthed right now to look .

We kinda dismissed the Icelandair jet as recycled since they were just there in TAR6, but I'm having second thoughts. Watch the preview video. It's included in a series of clips that are all this season -- the red plane in Alaska, then bungee jumping in Corinth, then the dramatic black slide with the announcer saying "this race will take you places you've never been" and the shot of the Icelandair jet followed by a ton of clips we know are from this season. If they wanted a shot of a plane, there would be plenty from this year -- why rehash old clips there?
