WATERSMEET TOWNSHIP, Mich. The Nimrods of Watersmeet Township School have appeared on E-S-P-N commercials and earned a spot on N-B-C's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Now, the boys' basketball team is being featured on a reality T-V series to be titled "Nimrod Nation."

The director of the E-S-P-N commercials wanted to focus on life in the Upper Peninsula, so he's returned to trail the team for the series, to air on the Sundance Channel next November.

Filming started yesterday.

The school's Nimrod nickname was established in 1904. It's taken from an Old Testament passage referring to a mighty king and hunter.

The school logo depicts the head of a bearded hunter wearing a coonskin cap.
