The *brilliant* Linzes just realized this was a race around North America. Is there a prize for original thinking!?

Linzes, then Bransens, appear to be arriving in Queenston.
They ask directions to the boat ramp.
Linzes ride first.
Man: Welcome to Whirlpool ... Niagara River Gorge. Select a boat.
Off they go, shrieking.
The Bransens close behind, choose a boat and depart.

Linz: The rapids, dude! Hold on!
Oh well, the season sucks, but the cinematography is great.

CLUE ... Linzes grab it: Cross the border to your final destination city, Lewiston NY.

Linzes turn the boat around, and the Bransens see them.
Linzes and Bransens share a quick hello.

Weavers arrive at Queenston Boat Ramp.
Linzes arrive at the boat ramp, run to CLUE: ROADBLOCK.
CLUE: Who paid attention in Geography?
Phil: One person has to use 71 jigsaw pieces to complete a map of Central and North America. Then, they can race to the finish line.

Three-sided obelisk lookin' thingy with map outlines ...
One side per team.
The first few pieces go together like clockwork.
Wally catching up.
Ladders now ... it's a huge puzzle.
Beth: Pick a big piece, Dad!
Wally: I'm looking!
Megan: A million dollars at stake!

Weavers shriek as the boat does a dipsy-doodle, then a u-turn. Rolly grabs the clue from the buoy.

Wally and Nick are neck-and-neck.
Nick: South Carolina? Where are you?
Nick politely puts it over Atlanta.
Wally puts Maine where it belongs.
Megan: It'll be close! That's for sure!
Wally, Mexico.
Nick, Tennessee.
Nick: Where's Ohio? I LIVE IN OHIO!!

If only we had known that a geography map was the last task -- there would have been no question that the Weasels came in last. Wonder how long it took them?  :)*

I would have been crapping my pants during that task.

That was a great last episode.  It was so intense.  Look how much they did in the last day and a half.
They flew from Montana to Minneapolis to Toronto to Montreal and then did all of those tasks, detours, and roadblocks.  Can you imagine how tired and hungry they were searching for the departure times in the Stadium?

The they had to sleep on a cot in the middle of the stadium, fly to Toronto before 6 am, do all of the stuff in Toronto, then go to the Niagara Falls, and then end it up with the geography puzzle.

It was just fantastic.  I enjoyed it tremendously. Ii only wish the other legs were half as intense.

Did anyone notice that the map was MISSING Prince Edward Island???

Located in Atlantic Canada, the province is located above New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (both, I believe in purple). Shame on you, CBS.

Did the Bransens cross the finish line way behind the Linzes or was it a close race to the  mat?

I'm sorry Hi-Fi, i was pretty excited when I saw TAR9 pictures   :lolCX:

where did I leave off.......

Megan: I can smell the million dollars!
Bransens lament Dad's not done yet.
Nick hammers in the final states.
Wally smashes New York into place.
Nick slams Rhode Island.
Nick: I'm done!
Wally's done!
FOOTRACE to the AMAZING BATHMAT!
Nick: RUN!
Bransens run!
Linzes run!
Teams clap!
Equipment falls to the ground ...
A team arrives!

Phil: 25 DAYS, LINZ FAMILY, YOU ARE THE OFFICIAL WINNERS OF THE AMAZING RACE! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE WON 1 MILLION DOLLARS!

In second, the Bransens hit the Bathmat.
Phil: Bransen family, congratulations, you're the second team in The Amazing
Phil: Linzes, you don't care much about coming in first any other leg.
Linzes: This is for Mom and Dad and everybody at home. What an opportunity to pay back. I'm speechless.
Megan: I'm done running! I never again want to run, in my entire life!
Meg conf: I've proved to myself and to my family, I ran with the boys!

Linzes compliment the Bransens' competitiveness.
"I wish we could share this money with you."

Phil: Wally. You must be ...
Wally: They're great ladies. I'm so proud.
Everyone sheds a tear.
Wally conf: Such a great experience with the girls, we had it together.
Daughters: Our Dad is just an amazing person. Couldn't ask for anything else in a father. We've bonded with him. A great experience.
More tears ...

Weavers run to the Bathmat.
Rebecca: Come on, guys!
Phil: Weaver family, you're team #3.
Polite applause.
Phil: Linda, you must be proud.
Mom: So proud!
Phil: You got here, did very well, beat out some competitive teams. Tell me about the strength of your mother.
Mom: It was the strength of the kids.
Conf: Our Dad was our main leader. He isn't here. It was so special to know we can work together and do without him.
Mom: Rolly wouldn't let us give up. Rachel has her strength in the Lord.

Teams assembled.
Hugs, kisses all around.
Linz, final winners' confessional.

Group shot on the Bathmat.
Linz: WHODAT? WHODAT? WHODAT THINK THEY GONNA BEAT THEM LINZES? Nobody! We won a million dollars!

Phil voiceover, new scenes: Coming this February. Eleven teams of two. Fifty thousand miles.

Quick shots and quick confessionals of several teams.

Phil voiceover: This February! Don't miss the start of an all new AMAZING RACE!

So they did not go to Terrapin Point at all.  Big ol decoy there.

Yes, they took the jetboats straight to Joe Davis State Park.  Here is the dock there.

cross-posted on Realiiity

Just watched the Bransen interview on the CBS site. A couple interesting factoids:
* the stadium search took over 3 hours for them to find the departure clue
* the search for the flag from the CN Tower took nearly as long. In fact, the Linz family left thinking they had found it, and had to return for another look, and the Bransens were still looking.
* the shoe task took a lot less time than it looked. Lauren (I think) said because the shoe was so small, they only asked women with small feet to try it on.

You can also watch the final challenge between the Bransens and Weavers, vying to win the SUV (I think puddin put the link somewhere on this site)

In general, yes the Family edition was not as exciting as races past, but I still enjoyed it, and the finale was very satisfying. I would have been happy with either a Linz or Bransen victory, and was glad the Weavers came in last. Boy, did Ma Weaver ever look "rode hard, put away wet"!

Chateau,  Do you think that the finish line was roughly around your original guessed location (west of River Road)?

Good point!  I will have to check it out later on with Google Earth.  They never showed anyone going through that tunnel to the main part of the park.

Did you you see that the Weasels never did get wet in the jet boat as the preview had indicated (well I was fooled).

Some huge blocks of time are emerging in the interviews.  CN Tower searching  was 3 hours?  It looks like the flag they were looking for was over by The Docks.

Who made the call that teams would have to have chartered flights to make this fit?   =]/

The charter flights landed at the other airport in Toronto.  That could be why I never could find the SUV pick up location around Lester Pearson Airport.

And one more oddity:  I posted that the Curling was at McConnell Arena at McGill University.  Wrong.

But McConnell Arena was where both the Weasels and the Linzes went first!  So they were wrong too!  :grinC:
