Is Family misspelled "Fammily" on purpose, or just another goof by some CBS intern?  This can't be a clipshow as it does mention that it is the 11th leg, and according to everything we know there are only 11 legs in TAR8.

Weasels and the Law: CBS Misdirection to be sure.  Next pit stop is an elimination stop and it looks like the Bransens are on the chopping block.

Guess after all that prep and practice in TAR5 they had to get the teepee building gig back in.

At least we are pretty sure about the pit stop this time: a ranch outside Billings, Montana.

That bit about the production team draining the car battery sucks.  Why penalize the racing team because the camera crew reporting to TPTB goofs AGAIN.

And the Weasels don't seem to be too handicaped by losing their money and extra clothing. Will Rory be stuck in those red shorts for the rest of the race?

Losing interest in TAR8 pretty fast.  Bring on TAR9 (at least they seem to be travelling around Australia!)

Hopefully someone will be able to identify the Indian Chief. Their outfits, feathers, etc. are pretty disitinctive aren't they?  :headhunter: (been wanting a reason to use this guy)
Also, hope someone (maybe a local) can tell us which sheriff department has the Weavers pulled over.  ]//{

Amazing Race makes stop in Billings

BILLINGS -- The latest season of one of TV's most popular reality shows begins Tuesday night on KTVQ. And part of this year's "The Amazing Race" will look very familiar to viewers in the Billings area.

Q2 has learned that the contestants and crew of "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" stayed in Billings for several days.

CBS won't say where the production crew spent time, or how far along in the series the Billings stop was.

In the Emmy-winning reality show, teams follow clues and race each other around the world on a limited budget.

For the Family Edition, instead of couples, nine families of four are competing for a $1 million grand prize.

The season premiere of "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" airs every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. on KTVQ.

The Amazing Race: A Rumor
Now that the Amazing Race has started, the rumor mill is grinding. I heard a rumor a month or so ago that the Amazing Race contestants had been in Montana. And in Billings no less. But today I heard another rumor from a pretty reliable source. Not only were the Amazing Race contestants in Montana but the pit stop for that particular point in the race was a ranch not more than 45 miles from where I live! Whether this is all true or not remains to be seen. But this is the way I heard it. The Race leaves Cody, WY and heads for Fishtail, Montana through Red Lodge. They camp at the ranch for their mandatory rest period and then head off to the airport in Billings. Which means they had to pass by the town I live it! This is all too exciting! This is all speculation, however, but it sure makes the race fun to watch.

I read on a site, don't know where, that there was something about going to Montana for a visit to Pomp's Pillar (The place that Lewis and Clark engraved their signatures on the expedition), that's outside Billings. The C.M. Russell art museum, that's outside Great Falls, and lastly something about purple sidewalk squares. Don't know what's significant about it, or where that is in Montana.

Havre MontanaWalking around the streets of Havre one may see a few small grids of purple colored squares on the sidewalk. These are from a sort of underground "mall" built in the city at least a hundred years ago (the squares let in sunlight).

Hi Rose,

Here is the scoop the way I heard it. I know ________ that
own a ranch near the Fishtail/Absarokee area in Montana. He told us a week
after the Race had started that one of the pit stops would be at this ranch.
I guess they filmed it sometime during July but he didn't pinpoint exactly
when. He also never told us how many teams were left at that time. He has
never watched Amazing Race so I don't think he would be making it up. He
told us that they wanted a "real" cowboy to greet the contestants so it must
be a pit stop. He also told us that the winners of that leg of the race win
a car because they had to bring it out to the ranch. He said some of the
teams had to leave in the middle of the night to drive to the airport in
Billings which also leads me to believe it is a pit stop. So unless the
Amazing Race films fake footage to throw people off I am pretty sure this
happens.

I can't see the Race going through Yellowstone Park because of the terrible
road conditions and traffic. The road between Cody and Red
Lodge/Fishtail/Absarokee area is two lane and not great but the traffic
isn't too bad. If they do drive it, they will have to watch out for
wildlife, deer, etc. because they are always in the road. If they are going
into Yellowstone Park, they could have been planning to go to Red Lodge via
the Beartooth Highway, which would have been awesome, but we had landslides
this spring and the road has been closed all summer. Maybe they had to make
a detour through Cody to get to Red Lodge. Kind of a round about way but it
would be one of the only ways to get to Red Lodge from Yellowstone Park
because of the road closure. This is all just speculation.

I absolutely love The Amazing Race. It is a great show!

PZ

Ha! Chateau, those locations may look close together, but a lot of driving on two lane roads is required. Plus, you add in all of the summer traffic (RVs, etc.) and one can become a very frustrated driver.

There's also a great change in elevation. Cody's only at 5000 feet. Yellowstone's roads are mostly at 7500 to 8500 feet.

If they visit Old Faithful, they'll have to make a loop in Yellowstome to get to Cody. You have to take a left at the T coming up from the Tetons.

Yellowstone is one of the greatest places I have ever visited but the driving sucked. Oh, I forgot to add all of the vehicles slowing down and stopping to view the elk, buffalo, moose, and other animals..

I don't expect an auto race in Yellowstone.

The Sisters don't look too happy.  Is this a recycled photo?  If not, it looks suspiciously like a post-elimination interview, similar to some that we got of the Paolos right before they were eliminated.  Are we still thinking the Bransens are next out?  They've been doing so well...

I dunno , just looking

The Hardin area is rich in history. Each year the Crow celebrate their heritage at the Crow Fair with a powwow which is the largest in the state.

South of Hardin is the Little Bighorn Battlefield, where the Northern Plains Indians defeated Custer and the U.S. Army.

The world famous Custer's Last Stand Reenactment is one of Custer Country's biggest annual attractions, an annual event celebrated in Hardin. Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors under the leadership of Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, and Gall fight George Armstrong Custer's Seventh Cavalry troopers. The reenactment script is based on Crow Tribal Elder Joseph Medicine Crow's translation of oral and written Native American narrative beginning before Lewis and Clark's epic journey almost 200 years ago. Presentations have a newly expanded emphasis on the impact of the explorers' travels, to be commemorated with a much-heralded Lewis and Clark bicentennial in 2003-2006. The sweeping pageantry of high plains history is portrayed by over 200 participants, including descendants of the troopers, Indian warriors, and scouts involved in the original battle. It is listed as one of the ‘Top 100 Events in America' by Destinations magazine.

Rmax,  There's an insider video this week (Bad Animals) with the sisters being interviewed. The video matches the photo. In the video, Michelle talks about how she bruised her leg during the cowboy task.  She also says that the sisters colored? her bruise "last night".

Since the last episode ended on the day of the cowboy task, that would mean that the video and photo were from an interview in the future.

I get the impression that the interview was a post leg interview, not a post elimination interview.

Most likely the Native American location is within the Crow Indian Reservation and the site of the Custer Battlefield National Monument where the good general died with his boots on at the Battle of Little Bighorn.  Location is near Hardin about 60 miles from Billings.

Teams probably leave the non-pit stop at the ranch south of Yellowstone and could go through Cody, Wyoming for a task with the Buffalo Bill location then on to Teepee gig somewhere in the Crow Reservation perhaps near Little Big Horn. And we have probably a visit to Pompey's Pillar with the Lewis and Clark tie-in.  So this half-leg could really have some interesting historical tie-ins: Buffalo Bill, General Custer, Lewis and Clark.

We know that the pit stop for the end of Leg 10 is at the ranch near Billings.  And this will get us down to three teams for the final leg 11 and the dash to Niagara Falls and David State Park for the final big mat in the sky. And did that former CBS intern tip us off with the X on the Bransens which was removed a day later? Real CBS Misdirection or a mistake costing the guy his job?

that confessional is not from now and its not recycled its from the finish line (Niagara Falls) compare it to the Starsi pic they are so simmular.  They are mad or look disapointed becuase they just came in second place to the Linz family.

Elizabeth Branson does not have the same backround she looks more like at a ranch (after there elimination), The Godlewski are very simmular to the Starsi pic and its not a ranch.

If Ms. Branson is the same backround as Chris when has she ever wore that red shirt??  I dont remember so its just her at teh finish line talking.  Like in AR5 in egypt the midget talked about riding horses in a confessional and it was from the finish line in Dallas.
