I'm not sure how many, but some teams flew from Toronto to Montreal on AC418 at 4:15 pm. We were informed that this flight "must" depart on time because Amazing Race films crews were going to be aboard filming the contestants.

1. "RE: Season 8 Timings/Locations Thread #2"
The Toronto sighting was very much fun. We had tickets to cruise on the Kajama for 11:30. People are supposed to be checked in a half hour before sailing time. As we were walking along Lakeshore/ Queen's Quay at the intersection of Rees road a SUV stopped for the red light and a woman asked "where are the tall ships?" She had an Amazing Race clue folder in her hand. We told her it was up one block and to the right. We wished her good luck.
We ran to try and catch up to them. They were coming back around the power generating station at Harbourfront. My fiancee exclaimed "My god, they are racing with kids." They dropped part of their route info and another person picked it up and asked if they needed it. They said they didn't and had a new clue. I again yelled out good luck and the woman said "Look, it's our friend from before." (yes, I am kicking myself for not trying to buy the route info from the guy on the spot)

My fiancee and I went to board the Kajama and the officer said that only "people on the movie crew" were allowed on for awhile and said we would be delayed sailing. There were several people milling around, all with cell phones and binders they were hiding. We sailed out late.

When we returned to dock at 1:30, the same crew was waiting, but no teams. The ship headed back out for its 2:00 cruise. We hung around and heard them talking about needing shots of the CN Tower and needing to plan travel to Montreal. They went to the cell phones and were asking where the next team was and said it would be cutting it close because they had to board the ship for the next clue. Bert appeared 15mins later and they all left.

We were supposed to go the Jays game at 4, but instead got a camera and waited at the dock. The crew was back at 3:30, as was the Kajama. The crew boarded and climbed the foremast and put a remote camera up there. They were holding the boat. The cell phones rang and someone said "code red, code red" and ran off down the dock. The boat was delayed sailing for 20mins, but no other team showed up. The camera crew left and Kajama sailed.

We took several pictures of the activity, including Bert. As we were waiting after the boat sailed, the head of the crew came close by us and laughed at us. Thats why i am posting the spoiler. I would have not said anything and made this a nice private memory to enjoy while watching the show with my fiancee, but after sitting in the sun for 3 hours and missing a ball game to try and watch the show in action, only to be laughed at, I thought a spoiler was in order.

The Kajama was not due to dock again till 5:30, so whichever team was next was a full six hours behind.
The driving of cars with New York plates in Toronto makes me wonder alot. I think alot of the delay was due to the holding of Caribanna because when we left Toronto the Gardiner and 403 (the freeways into Toronto's downtown area from NY and or the airport) were jammed into parking lots.

Thats all the details I have. Looking forward to the end. I overheard the crew discussing a pit stop, but I could not make out if it was in Toronto or Montreal. But I heard the words climbing and CN tower, so I think a roadblock was close.

Discuss amongst yourselves and ttyl.

10 teams; Sept 27th Week 1 ~ Blacks eliminated
9 teams; October 4th week 2 ~ Rogers eliminated
8 teams; October 11th week 3 ~ Aiellos eliminated
7 teams; October 18th week 4 ~ ? eliminated
6 teams; October 25th week 5 ~ NEL
6 teams; November 1st week 6 ~ ? eliminated
5 teams; November 8th week 7 ~ NEL
5 teams; November 15th week 8 ~ ? eliminated
 (:;) Thanksgiving recrap; November 22nd week 9 ~ recrap; Thanksgiving   (:;)

4 teams; November 29th week 10 ~ NEL
4 teams; December 5th  week 11 ~ ? eliminated
3 teams; December 12th week 12 finale

something like that  *(^

 |#' |#' ..the gal or guy Pandora responded through my e-mail from this site
http://www.terrestrialball.com/offerings/2005/09/the_amazing_rac.html

Hi Rose,

Here is the scoop the way I heard it. I know ________ that
own a ranch near the Fishtail/Absarokee area in Montana. He told us a week
after the Race had started that one of the pit stops would be at this ranch.
I guess they filmed it sometime during July but he didn't pinpoint exactly
when. He also never told us how many teams were left at that time. He has
never watched Amazing Race so I don't think he would be making it up. He
told us that they wanted a "real" cowboy to greet the contestants so it must
be a pit stop. He also told us that the winners of that leg of the race win
a car because they had to bring it out to the ranch. He said some of the
teams had to leave in the middle of the night to drive to the airport in
Billings which also leads me to believe it is a pit stop. So unless the
Amazing Race films fake footage to throw people off I am pretty sure this
happens.

I can't see the Race going through Yellowstone Park because of the terrible
road conditions and traffic. The road between Cody and Red
Lodge/Fishtail/Absarokee area is two lane and not great but the traffic
isn't too bad. If they do drive it, they will have to watch out for
wildlife, deer, etc. because they are always in the road. If they are going
into Yellowstone Park, they could have been planning to go to Red Lodge via
the Beartooth Highway, which would have been awesome, but we had landslides
this spring and the road has been closed all summer. Maybe they had to make
a detour through Cody to get to Red Lodge. Kind of a round about way but it
would be one of the only ways to get to Red Lodge from Yellowstone Park
because of the road closure. This is all just speculation.

I absolutely love The Amazing Race. It is a great show!

PZ

Ha! Chateau, those locations may look close together, but a lot of driving on two lane roads is required. Plus, you add in all of the summer traffic (RVs, etc.) and one can become a very frustrated driver.

There's also a great change in elevation. Cody's only at 5000 feet. Yellowstone's roads are mostly at 7500 to 8500 feet.

If they visit Old Faithful, they'll have to make a loop in Yellowstome to get to Cody. You have to take a left at the T coming up from the Tetons.

Yellowstone is one of the greatest places I have ever visited but the driving sucked. Oh, I forgot to add all of the vehicles slowing down and stopping to view the elk, buffalo, moose, and other animals..

I don't expect an auto race in Yellowstone.

So, just guessing, Fishtail is where #14 and #15 show up, right after the bear and Old Faithful (#11, #18). I can't find any direct flights to Canada out of Billings airport; flights would have to connect through Salt Lake City or Denver.

just for a reference ..

Phil said 7 Pitstops will be elimination
articles confirm 13 episodes
The show was filmed in July, but the winner will not be revealed until the end of the 13-episode series.
CBS /TAR website shows 11 Episodes?
also the articles state that we will have " Fewer NEL "
Initially, "it was great to see how well these people got along with each other" and offered help, even as they "finessed finding ways to mislead the other teams." Later, as the race got harder, teams became more "bitter" and clearly labeled certain rivals as enemies.

The kid-friendly contest, which includes fewer non-elimination episodes, did require certain concessions: Over the 30-day race, filmed mostly in July, teams traveled 30,000 miles , far less than the 72,000 traversed by teams on the sixth season. And more family-friendly, less-crowded locales were chosen.

Sept 27th Week 1 ~Blacks eliminated
October 4th week 2 ~Rodgers
October 11th week 3~Aiellos
October 18th week 4~Schroeders
October 25th week 5
November1st week 6
November 8th week 7
November 15th week 8
November 22cnd week 9
November 29th week 10
December 5th  week 11
December 12th week 12
December 19th week 13 Finale ??

I'm not sure what thread would be best; since it involves locations, I'll mention it here. A poster in the Keyhole GoogleEarth forums has been keeping track of TAR8. Each stop is annotated; I haven't checked the accuracy of all the pushpins, but it looks like a timesaver.

Could it be possible that the race doesn't go to Park City, Utah?  The Balloon Adventures link says that they also give tours in Southern Utah.

The mountains in the vid caps don't look like ski resort (Park City) mountains.  They're too smooth at the top.  Kind of like the mountains you'd find above the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in the Kaibab National Forest.

Ha!  I still don't know about the balloons but I sure was wrong about Park City!!

They were being very hush hush about their presence in Montreal but I was able to get some info from my supervisors....so its 100% believable!

"TAR in TORONTO JULY 30"

My fiancee and I helped a team to the Toronto Harbourfront to find the schooner Kajama. They are racing as a family of four. My fiancee and I watched for a few hours and saw the location crew return to the Kajama twice more, but no other teams arrived while we were there. We overheard the crew mention shooting at the CN Tower (possibly climbing the stairs?).

And we also overheard them mention the trip to Montreal as the next step on the route as mentioned. The crew was also waiting for "Bert" to arrive to make decisions. The man who they called "Bert" looks exactly like the picture of Bertram van Munster (producer and creator of TAR)on the Amazing Race website.

This was posted on Sucks

I have a complete itinerary for leg 9 of the AR-8 which will be aired on T.V. the upcoming week.

I've been wanting to post this for awhile, but I decided to wait till the week before this episode aired.

Here's how I got this information:

My mother-in-law works at a local diner in Moab, UT. In came Phil and the AR crew to eat lunch while they were shooting this leg. She's a big fan of the show, so she introduced herself to Phil. He wanted to keep things quiet, but he wrote her an autographed picture of himself. What's funny is he call's himself the "Philminator". Anyway, as the crew was leaving one of the crew members accidently left the entire itinerary on the table. I think you'll find that this will completely coincide with the show. So those who'd like to know what's coming up this week, please read ahead.

i think that girl has to be a Godlewski in the corner becuase the Bransons have gotten the nicknem "Powdered Blue team" so i would think they would wear blue togehter.  The only other person i could be is Mrs. Rogers.

And one other thing the Toronto spoiler it says two teams came together and one was a group of 4 hot girls.  Christina and Michelle Godlewski are not hot, meanwhile Megan LINZ, Beth, Lauren, and Lindsay Branson are all HOT.  So maybe the Bransons and Linz were together and someone mixed up teh separation of the two teams.  The only thing it why wouldnt the person had said a team of males and another team of all females so thats the only thing that could make this threory wrong.

So Godlewskis in the final mat pciture = Forth Place
Branson: The Mother/Father with two daughters third place can easily be mistaken as the Bransons because Beth does look older than the other two.
WEavers: Mother with kids seen in Canada and fix the villian second place
Lina: Winners via betting scandal.

Now i dont know but just putting this out there.

Amazing Race makes stop in Billings

BILLINGS -- The latest season of one of TV's most popular reality shows begins Tuesday night on KTVQ. And part of this year's "The Amazing Race" will look very familiar to viewers in the Billings area.

Q2 has learned that the contestants and crew of "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" stayed in Billings for several days.

CBS won't say where the production crew spent time, or how far along in the series the Billings stop was.

In the Emmy-winning reality show, teams follow clues and race each other around the world on a limited budget.

For the Family Edition, instead of couples, nine families of four are competing for a $1 million grand prize.

The season premiere of "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" airs every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. on KTVQ.

The Amazing Race: A Rumor
Now that the Amazing Race has started, the rumor mill is grinding. I heard a rumor a month or so ago that the Amazing Race contestants had been in Montana. And in Billings no less. But today I heard another rumor from a pretty reliable source. Not only were the Amazing Race contestants in Montana but the pit stop for that particular point in the race was a ranch not more than 45 miles from where I live! Whether this is all true or not remains to be seen. But this is the way I heard it. The Race leaves Cody, WY and heads for Fishtail, Montana through Red Lodge. They camp at the ranch for their mandatory rest period and then head off to the airport in Billings. Which means they had to pass by the town I live it! This is all too exciting! This is all speculation, however, but it sure makes the race fun to watch.

I read on a site, don't know where, that there was something about going to Montana for a visit to Pomp's Pillar (The place that Lewis and Clark engraved their signatures on the expedition), that's outside Billings. The C.M. Russell art museum, that's outside Great Falls, and lastly something about purple sidewalk squares. Don't know what's significant about it, or where that is in Montana.

Havre MontanaWalking around the streets of Havre one may see a few small grids of purple colored squares on the sidewalk. These are from a sort of underground "mall" built in the city at least a hundred years ago (the squares let in sunlight).
