Will Ron/Kelly's relationship be able to withstand the challenges ahead?

CLUE, Ron/Kelly, 5:29 am.
Drive yourselves to Sankuyo Village.
Phil: They'll drive 148 miles then 50 miles to a water tower for their next clue.

Kelly blathers something unintelligible during a confessional.
Ron conf: We're not arguing much, just a little spat here and there.

Rob/Amber, 5:43 am.
CLUE: Next clue is under the water tower.
Rob conf: The gloves are off and we're playing for ourselves. We have no friends in this game.

Rob: Just keep driving straight, yes?
Amber: I guess.

Uchenna/Joyce, 5:51 am, jog to their SUV.
Uchenna conf: My father is a native Nigerian. It's something to put your feet on soil that your ancestors are from.

Lynn/Alex
Conf: We're good, honest players, we're just sneaky.

Meredith/Gretchen, 6:12 am.
G conf: It's a miracle we've beat tough competitors to get here! It's a beautiful morning. It's good to be alive. We're rarin' to go.
Gretchen grimaces as she gets into the car.

Last place, Greg: Big bucks, big bucks, no whammies!

At Sign: Go left or right. (A "T" intersection.)

Ron/Kelly turn towards Maun not knowing if it's the right way.
Rob/Amber watch Ostriches cross the road.
Amber: You're kidding!
Amber conf: I've always wanted to go on safari. We're the two luckiest people in the world.

Uchenna/Joyce find out they're going west, which is correct.

Lynn/Alex decide to pass on the right ... (which is correct in Botswana.)
Joyce: They just zoomed right past!

A herd of cattle cross in front of Lynn/Alex, who don't slow down.
Lynn: How now, brown cow?

"Stupid cow" forces Joyce/Uchenna to slow down.

Meredith/Gretchen find a water tower.
Gretchen: I don't see any clues.
Reading: You will drive through the city of Maun.
Gretchen: OH! Keep going straight. There's the sign for Maun to the left.

Brian/Greg also see a water tower and guess wrong.


Ron/Kelly, DETOUR.
Carry it, or Milk it.
Carry: Balance 3 items on your head to a cooking area 70 yards away. Can't use your hands to balance. If they get the technique, it could be quick.
Milk it: Choose goats, tie 'em up, squeeze out enough milk to fill a 10 ounce cup. It's not easy to milk these goats!

Ron/Kelly opt for balancing.
Kelly: I can't.
Ron: You do ballet. You should be able to do this. Okay, let's do a goat.

Rob/Amber choose goats.
Amber: This should be amusing!

Brian/Greg, not the sharpest tools in the shed, ask if they should climb the water tower, which isn't even the right tower.
Brian climbs.
Greg finally reads. "The clue is UNDER the tower."
Brian descends.
Brian: You're pissing me off!

COMMERCIAL.

[puddin]

Brian: Man, we're IDIOTS, Greg!
They finally discover they have to drive thru Maun.
Sign, MAUN is to the right.
Greg: Whoever said the Smith Brothers have no sense of direction?


Ron/Kelly having loads of fun doing the goat milking.

Rob/Amber decide to try the carry/balancing act.
Rob makes it one whole step but Amber has no problem.
A: If you can't do it, tell me now.
Rob can't do it.

Ron/Kelly milking ...
Rob/Amber arrive to start milking.
Ron, stiff-handed: This could take forever.

Lynn: Why would you need one of these (Ostriches) in LA?
Uchenna: We are definitely in Africa.
Gretchen: Just watch the animals! If one darts out in front of us!
Brian: We're gonna kick some butt today!!

Goat: NYAAAAH!
Rob: That one's jealous. He wants a turn.
Amber: He's cooperating.

Lynn/Alex, Meredith/Gretchen, Uchenna/Joyce, reach the water tower.
DETOUR clue for three teams within seconds of each other.

Meredith/Gretchen, milking
Uchenna/Joyce, carrying


Rob: Baby, you got the technique now! The best teats so far!
Lynn: BAAAA! They've been here a long time. Let's go for the baskets.

Gretchen: This goat has nice, big teats!
Uchenna/Joyce do head-balancing with no real problem.
Lynn: Alex, I dunno, honey.
Lynn has bigtime problems with carrying on his head.
Uchenna/Joyce make short work of the first carry of the DETOUR.
Uchenna's done. Really quick!
Joyce is making progress slower.

Milking ...
Ron/Kelly
Rob/Amber
Meredith/Gretchen ...
Now joining them, Lynn/Alex ...

CLUE, Ron/Kelly: Drive yourselves to the Khwai River

Uchenna/Joyce move on to their 3rd and final balancing act.
They're finished.
CLUE: Khwai river.

[puddin]

Rob/Amber finish milking, move on.

Gretch: Come on, sweetie! Don't spill any or I'll kill you!
Meredith finishes, gets the Khwai River clue.
M: I dunno where the Khwai is!
They get directions, well, sort-of, from an older woman sitting there.

Lynn/Alex finally finish milking.

Brothers start milking, far behind the rest of the pack.

Dusty road.
Ron/Kelly driving.
Rob/Amber driving close behind.

Gazelles get the attention of Uchenna/Joyce.
Gretchen tells Meredith to keep going the way the woman pointed.
M: We haven't seen a road marker in a long time.

Meanwhile, Lynn/Alex putt-putt to a stop.
Alex: Uh-oh. Why are we stopping?
Lynn: Car's done. We're screwed. This sucks.

COMMERCIAL.

Alex  can't drive a stickshift well all males do the RB


Lynn/Alex gawk at the stalled car, and kvetch.
Replacement.
Quickly they get back in the race.

Brian/Greg making short work of milking.

Ron/Kelly in the lead, driving down a bumpy, dusty road.
Suddenly a very wet, muddy patch.
Along the road, elephants.
They get distracted.

CLUE, Ron/Kelly, followed closely by Rob/Amber.
ROADBLOCK.
Phil: Navigate the team's vehicle through a croc-infested crossing. Remove a pair of logs from the road, then drive forward for the next clue.
Rob/Amber and Ron/Kelly get through the crossing.

Joyce: Zebras!
Joyce squeals with glee.
ROADBLOCK.
Who's ready for a REAL Roadblock?
Joyce: You are.

Interesting .. the person who doesn't do the roadblock gets to direct the driver.

Uchenna, squishing through the muddy croc crossing: Whoa, Nelly!

Meredith/Gretchen, ROADBLOCK in 4th.
Meredith drives.
Gretchen squeals.

Lynn/Alex get to the ROADBLOCK crossing.
Water, and Hippos, and Crocs, Oh, My!

The deal here is to latch onto the log with the bumper, then pull the log away.

Kelly: Come on!
Ron: Shut up. I'm moving as fast as I can.

Joyce reads the clue wrong, then they stop and get the ribbon they have to get before moving logs.

Rob finishes log #2.
Kelly: We gotta catch up!
Uchenna does log #1 quickly.
Meredith slows down for Giraffes.
M: This is fabulous!

At the crossing, Lynn: Alex, put the cluth in. Emergency brake off. In first. Keep going, baby. Fabulous!!


The Brothers Dumbb see an elephant and don't know what to do.


CLUE, Rob/Amber
Drive yourselves to the next pitstop, the Khwai River Lodge
Phil: This camp, Botswana's oldest safari lodge, is the pitstop for this leg. The last team to check in may be eliminated.
Ron finishes, gets in.
Kelly: I cannot believe what you said to me.
Ron: Whattid I say?
Kelly: Shut the F up.
Ron: I didn't say the F up.
Kelly: You're a piece of trash redneck.

Uchenna finishes log #2, gets in.
They're in third.

Meredith/Gretchen arrive at the first marker, then the first log.
Meredith connects and moves log #1.

Alex: Omigod! That's an .. (animal) ... oh, I don't even know.
They get stuck.
Hopefully not temporarily.


Rob/Amber drive toward the pitstop and enjoy the scenery.

Kelly is still bitching and complaining as Ron drives toward the pitstop.

Uchenna: Houston! We have an elephant!
Joyce squeals with glee.
Meredith: Gosh this is hard.

Lynn/Alex get yet ANOTHER replacement vehicle.
Alex: Let's see if we can destroy this one!

Ron: We'll make this a footrace.
Kelly: We've made it to the pitstop.
Rob: Run! Come on, baby!

Man: Welcome to Khwai River, Botswana.
Phil: Rob/Amber, you're team #1.
Amber: Yeah, baby!
Phil: You've won a trip for two to Monte Carlo.

Phil: Ron/Kelly, you're team #2. A real close run for first.
Ron conf: We're starting to get under each other's skin.
Kelly: It's hard to get close to him, so I just put the Lord first.


Phil: Uchenna/Joyce, you're the third team to arrive. However, you did not finish the Roadblock correctly and you must go back and do it correctly before you can check in.
Uchenna: WHAT? What did we do wrong?
Phil doesn't say a word.
They run back to the SUV, get in, drive back.
Joyce: Oh, no. That could be costly.

Brian/Greg make it to the ROADBLOCK.
B/G through the muck.
Joyce: Just gotta grab the damn post!
Uchenna grabs a post.
Joyce: We got our frickin' post and we better know how to get back to the pitstop!

Meredith/Gretchen "don't see any more logs."
Their clue is sitting on a log they didn't move.

Phil: Uchenna/Joyce, you're team #3.
Uchenna, channeling Chip: AFRIKA!


Gretchen: Where is our clue?
Phil: Meredith/Gretchen, you're the fourth team to arrive. How'd you know to get here?
Meredith: Followed.
Gretchen: Omigod.
Meredith: We're not out of it yet.
Back they drive.

Lynn/Alex do log #2.
Lynn/Alex get the clue in 4th.
Lynn: Even if we come in last place, you did something that was super hard for you.

Brian/Greg finish the first log.
Lynn/Alex drive toward the lodge.


Phil: Lynn/Alex, you're team #4.
Both: WHAT!?
Phil: Yes.

Meredith/Gretchen get the CLUE as Brian/Greg finish the 2nd log.
Brian: Let's hope it's not elimination.
Greg: Wanna get in our bathing suits?
They take off their clothes, and prepare to be stripped at a non-elim.


Driving ...
Meredith: I'm looking.
Gretchen: Is there a road?
Brian: It's definitely not over. Don't quit.
Meredith: The road's been traveled.
Gretchen: OK.


Phil: Meredith/Gretchen, you're team #5. You just keep going and going ...
Gretchen: The Energizer Bunny.


Man: Welcome to Khwai, Botswana.
Phil: Brian/Greg, you're the last team to arrive. Sorry to tell you, you've both been eliminated from the race. What's the idea for this getup (half-naked)?
Both: We thought it would be non-elim.
Phil: Sorry I can't award you some fashion award. Sorry to see you go, guys.
Greg: Brian's my best friend.
Brian: A bonding experience we'll remember for a lifetime.
