Gotta love the My Ox is Broken recap. Ah the memories. Colin was having it, My Ox (Cow) is Broken Lite.
Great episode. Self-Driving Leg. Switzerland is so beautiful.

I don't mind the voting in public thing, but I think to not influence the results, they should have written down the name (or have pictures and put the picture of their u-turn vote in a envelope) and then reveal it in front of everyone.

That way, no one is influence by the other votes, no one gets screwed for voting in first.
No 'Nicole stupid drama' about not agreeing here.
Creates a strategy of : I'm sure everybody will vote for X (in this case Collin/Christie) so I will sneak a vote in X's way
Still have the drama of revealing the vote in public...

I think that scenario would have been a win win

I think it was because the racer was loading a nail, rather than an instructor loading an arrow.

Technically, it's called a bolt. After previously having to do some research on historical crossbows, I felt the need to correct this, lol.

As for this episode...eh. Something about the tasks on this leg felt lacking to me compared to the focus on heights tasks last week. The real highlight was the elimination.

Yeah the problem is in the actual voting and the way teams could be swayed by who others vote for and/or the order they vote in.
Revealing their vote is certainly not a problem. Though I still prefer the normal way of a vote board and then a reveal board later on. But that would require at least one extra Route Marker before the Detour and a careful Leg design which TARUS does not do, unfortunately.

Also, having that long, drawn out vote ceremony forces the Race to come to a screeching halt and is more than just a simple Hours of Operation equalizer.

It's safe to say that Swiss legs during the 20s haven't been that great. Last week's leg had some merits but wasn't that great. I thought that this week's leg was one of the better Swiss legs since TAR 14. With regards to the U-Turn Vote, I didn't mind having teams vote together after an hour of operations. I would have preferred teams revealing their vote at once or having every teams make their decision before going down the line (kind of like the opening vote of Survivor Blood vs Water). I'm glad though that the vote wasn't a pile up or an organized effort to target one team, and teams seemed to mostly vote out of self-interest. While I do think that the voting mechanics could be improved, I do think that this was a good leg for a U-Turn. The U-Turn was able to delay both teams but it wasn't an insurmountable obstacle. It was also great that the self-driving continued because it had a pretty decent impact in shaking the order of the teams. Also, while it only impacted the top 2, I liked the inclusion of the mini-Detour leading to the Pit Stop. So, overall I thought that this was a good leg, and I hope that the season can maintain this momentum especially next week as I've been looking forward to that destination.

Leo when he saw the cat.  :funny:
Chris saying that he & Bret don't have enough IG followers to be included in conversations.  :funny:
Old McBecca had a farm.  :funny:
Christie feeling the energies of the cows, yet still choosing a broken one.  :funny:
Absolutely not.  :funny:
I choose you Pokemon.  :funny:

Flags: Though it was fine. It did its job in delaying N&V enough.
Hay: Was a pretty straightforward physical task though it did create drama between the U-Turnees.
Cow: Loved that it produced an ox reference but it wasn't the most exciting task.
Tell: We get two tasks from TAR 3 but don't get a reference to that season.  >:( In all seriousness, I did like this task. It was different enough from TAR 3, and it led to a great showdown to avoid elimination.

Is this one of the shortest legs in terms of total time ever? The U-Turn vote was at 7 AM and it was just after 9 AM when Bret/Chris tried to get the funicular (it ran every hour so they would've had to wait until 10) to the pit stop.

Another funny moment this episode...Bret constantly botching the pronunciation of "funicular."  :funny:

The legs are tailing off for me at present, we have Leo and Jamal to thank for getting lost and making it more interesting here.  But the lead up to this leg made it obvious the Reillys were getting u-turned and the start of the ep (with the producers talking to the Reillys yet again about the record) made it look extremely likely they'd get eliminated.

FYI, shortest leg ever was TAR 13 Leg 7 in around an hour and a half only

This leg is certainly short considering they were bunched for the vote at 7am. Then the first two teams checked in at around 9. The total racing part should be shorter than two hours considering the voting takes a considerable amount of time as well.

I wonder what they would have filled episode 7 with if Rachel & Elissa hadn't ended up being U-Turned.  :funny:

U-Turning two strong teams may result in one of them getting eliminated, so that's a one threat down, right? They had their chance and they wasted it in voting for Rachel & Elissa.
Not just 2 strong teams. Since Rachel & Elissa; Nicole & Victor and Leo & Jamal all got 1 vote and Nicole & Victor also had a Speed Bump, if they U-turned Leo & Jamal, that would make 3 teams who had a disadvance plus Rachel & Elissa. I have never seen an insurance brand that reliable in all my life. If they U-turned Nicole & Victor (which was highly unlikely), Nicole & Victor would have been death fishes in the water since I don't think there has been a team that survived an Equalizer, a U-turn and a Speed Bump on the same leg.

Chris explain this in coco podcast, they just cant u-turn other than green team because they have good relation with other teams
they just want to survive, and they did, mission accomplished
one of the greatest move on TAR history, tackle down green team along with their toxic drama, great move

Ok, if their goal was just to have funs and make friends along the way; I can respect that.

They are not a returnee, so their state of mind is to survive one leg at a time, so far their strategy is working, thats the difference between them and the veterans, all returnee already have strategy for final 3

Let's see if their strategy works in the next leg. ;)

I agree with what Rachel said when being voted, it's a million dollar decision. If the goal is for surviving that leg only, then U-Turning Rachel & Elissa or Nicole & Victor would be the best interest, because that means they're save for another leg. But, if the goal is surviving all remaining legs and winning the final leg, I'm still thinking toward voting for more threatening team.

one of the greatest move on TAR history

I'm tickled by this statement. How many seasons of TAR have you watched anyway? Because I'm thinking that you loathe Rachel & Elissa so much that you think that any move that caused their elimination is the greatest move in TAR history.

Putting all the relations with other teams aside, wouldn't voting for Nicole & Victor who already have a Speed Bump ahead means 99.9% of survival chance for them in this leg?

I'd much rather have teams who are racing to win, it is a race.

Also, U-Turning Rachel & Elissa wouldn't really be considered a great move theoretically. In my opinion, great moves are moves that affect their position or the outcome of the race on another level, beyond the rules of the race, like Charla & Mirna and their infamous airport skills, Colin & Christie and Rob & Amber with their metagame in their first seasons, Natalie & Nadiya and their U-Turn strategy, etc.

But then, you're entitled to your opinion. I get that. Now, move on.

I accidentally exposed to spoiler
no spoiler please its like a land mine here
dont use future eps to support your opinion, the racers dont have that privilege, they see the race from their own 2 eyes and with all kind of deprivations, we see the race from third person from many cameras sit comfy at home
mr. chris already explain it at coco podcast its the same thing i posted yesterday, so if u cant understand mr. chris (and bret) point of view, i cant help u anymore
team uncle just cant u-turn other than team green who dont have good relation with and remember they come from survivor, as we all know, if somebody dont talk u at all thats mean they against u

Oh I'm sorry for mentioning a spoiler inside a spoiler tag (might get reported for this :groan:). You know it's a spoiler tag and there's a risk of being spoiled if you open the spoiler tag, hence there is.

I'm just following this:

Also side note, I know it may be a lot to ask, but for the final update (the “next week we fly to ___”) is there any chance we could start putting those in spoiler tags? I like to be surprised about where they’re traveling to when I watch the episode and I was stupid and not careful when I scrolled through the updates and now I know where they’re going :(

We can try...but once it is in the Media it isn't a spoiler anymore... so let's all try? But NO promises.

I'll move on and try to not commenting anymore about the U-Turn vote. If you're happy with the voting and who's eliminated, it's fine. If you defend Chris & Bret's decision, it's fine, it's your right.

Finally, I will quote Christie's words in Episode 6 before they're flying to Uganda, which is:"We're at leg 6, if you're still in the game, you are an Amazing Race team."

I won't view them as Team Big Brother, Team TAR, or Team Survivor anymore. They're all The Amazing Race teams right now, and so be it.

Thanks! :waves:

It is a game, where the goal is to beat the others. So Yes Colin and Christie overall best team. Vicole have showed strong perfomersens and they had a Spedbump. So Yes to vote for them, seems like a good choice.
Love The Amazing Race, The Apprentice and Survivor.
