Rachel Reilly and Elissa Slater (Sisters)

Previous seasons: Big Brother 12, winner of Big Brother 13, The Amazing Race 20 and The Amazing Race: All-Stars (Rachel); Big Brother 15 (Elissa)

Rachel Reilly
Age: 34
Hometown: Van Nuys, California
Current occupations: Student, PT tech, yoga teacher, entrepreneur, casting, mom, entertainment, and blogger.

Three words to describe you:
Loyal, fierce/competitive, and courageous.

What excites you most about traveling?
This is my third Race and my first two I did with Brendon, my husband. It was really fun to race with him but this Race is really exciting because I get to do this with my sister. Growing up, Elissa and I moved a lot. I think I went to three middle schools and two high schools. Moving and only having your sister as a constant made us super close, then we went to college, got married, and didn't live together anymore. We still love to do everything together. Elissa was on Big Brother after I was, we got engaged the same weekend, we got married the same year, and we had babies together! So for us, doing the Race together is a dream come true! SISTER BONDING!

Who do you think will be your biggest competition: Racers, Houseguests, or Castaways?
I think the biggest threats are the Racers. The Race teams know what to expect and even though I have raced twice, my partner has never raced so this will be totally new to her. It's probably good to have a new set of eyes on something I feel so confident about, but I also hope that she listens to me because after all, I've done this twice before and NEVER BEEN ELIMINATED. This also adds pressure on both of us, but I mean, I'm Rachel Reilly, I've won two reality shows. I've got this in the bag ;)

Elissa Slater
Age: 32
Hometown: Las Vegas
Current occupation: Founder, CEO Drop Method® app

Three words to describe you:
Go-getter, focused, and determined.

What excites you most about traveling?
Seeing the world—especially with my sister, meeting new people and cultures, realizing the infinite possibilities of our world.

Who do you think will be your biggest competition: Racers, Houseguests, or Castaways?
Definitely the Racers.

Biography

Rachel Reilly
Age: 34
Instagram: @rachelereillyvillegas
Hometown: Van Nuys, California
Current occupations: Student, PT tech, yoga teacher, entrepreneur, casting, mom, entertainment, and blogger.

Three words to describe you:
Loyal, fierce/competitive, and courageous.

Favorite hobbies: Hiking, camping, and art.

What is the accomplishment you are most proud of?
My education, becoming a mom, and winning Big Brother!

What scares you most about traveling?
Missing my daughter.

What excites you most about traveling?
This is my third Race and my first two I did with Brendon, my husband. It was really fun to race with him but this Race is really exciting because I get to do this with my sister. Growing up, Elissa and I moved a lot. I think I went to three middle schools and two high schools. SISTER BONDING!

What country and place would you most like to visit and why?
Africa Safari again. It’s amazing, I mean who gets to do that? But excited for everywhere.

What do you hope to accomplish by running the Race with your partner (other than winning one million bucks)?
Bonding time and building memories. Time with my sister is so valuable since we are both so busy with life. This is an opportunity to make some memories as sisters! We didn't get to do BB together so this will be really fun and exciting! We get to make memories, go on a crazy adventure and try to make better lives for our families.

This also adds pressure on both of us, but I mean I'm Rachel Reilly, I've won two reality shows. I’ve got this in the bag ;)

Do you think Big Brother prepared you for The Amazing Race? Do you think you learned anything on BB that will help you on the Race?
I think being on The Amazing Race prepared me more for this than Big Brother. The Amazing Race isn't usually as strategic with the other Racers, but I think since we have Racers, Houseguests, and Castaways we are going to really see more of a social game being played. I am totally prepared to make alliances on this race and use my race experience and my BB experience.

Diseases and flying. Also safety of food, activities, and travel.

What excites you most about traveling?
Seeing the world—especially with my sister, meeting new people and cultures, realizing the infinite possibilities of our world.

What country and place would you most like to visit and why?
Africa—to see all the animals.

What do you hope to accomplish by running the Race with your partner (other than winning one million bucks)?
I hope to overcome my fear of flying!

Who do you think will be your biggest competition: Racers, Houseguests, or Castaways?
Definitely the Racers.

Do you think Big Brother prepared you for The Amazing Race? Do you think you learned anything on BB that will help you on the Race?
I think we learned that the Big Brother casts are groups of pathological liars and never under any circumstances to trust any of them. Actually, literally, so don’t trust Big Brother Houseguests ever, ever, except me. You can trust me with your health in particular.

So excited! I've always wanted to see them Race together after watching Elissa on BB. And Rachel is definitely a TAR All-Star. I even consider her more of a TAR All-Star than a BB All-Star, tbh hehe

I don't watch BB so I'm wondering if Elissa has a strong enough personality to keep Rachel in check
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

If Elissa could hold her own against the racists on BB15, I think handling Rachel would be a vacation in comparison

Plus they've obviously known each other their whole lives. I think TAR20 was like a little more than a year since Brendon and Rachel met on BB12. It should be a much different dynamic with the sisters.

And Elissa seems to be relatively calmer than Rachel, which also helps matters. Back on TAR20, Brendon wasn't exactly a patient person, and when you combine that with Rachel being over the top/loud, then it's understandable how the two would clash at times

I just watched TAR20 and am towards the end of TAR24.

I could see a difference in the relationship of Brenchel in both seasons.  I agree the newness of the relationship was a factor in TAR20.  Both of them were much better with each other in TAR24. By that time they were married and much more comfortable in their relationship.

It will be interesting to see Rachel with a different partner.

In TAR24, Rachel held herself together almost the entire race, even with the whole alliance against her. Up until that boots Detour at Final 4.

I think she'll be fine this time :)

So glad that BB13's winner and BB15's star get to race on a season without the unwatchability of either TAR20 or TAR24, the two worst ever.

That's true, because now that you mention it, she was pretty calm during that nightclub Detour in Malaysia, and I did love the moment where she and Brendon, who were clearly racing for last against Luke and Margie, were constantly encouraging Luke to complete the Detour

Speaking of their original seasons, I was thinking about people who weren't big fans of the Reillys so I have this list:

People friendly with or worked with Rachel & Elissa on TAR20/24 and BB12/13/15
  • Bopper/Mark
  • Nary/Jamie
  • Kerri/Stacy
  • Janelle/Britney
  • Helen
  • Candice
  • Jeff/Jordan
And anti-Reilly in same period:
  • Vanessa/Ralph
  • Art/JJ
  • Dave/Connor
  • Caroline/Jen
  • All BB15 racists
  • The remaining teams on TAR31

I think I trust the judgement of the 1st group much more than the ones in the 2nd group.

One slight modification with the 1st group. Jordan and Rachel got into some conflict post BB13, because when Jeff & Jordan got that offer to appear on Marriage Boot Camp, Rachel reportedly said stuff about how the only reason J/J got that gig was because she & Brendon declined it. And as you can imagine, Jordan didn't take too kindly to those comments, especially since she was never trying to make a career out of reality TV the way Rachel has.

That was shortly after J/J got cast on Marriage Bootcamp, and I think Brendon & Rachel had already gotten married by then.

Disclaimer here:  I am not a fan of Rachel.  That said, I went back and listened to all the different conflicts on this race.  Rachel is quite the drama queen.  A number of times, Elissa is heard saying her name(Rachel's) to rein her in on some of her verbal histrionics.  Brendan did this on the other TARs.  Example the Dubai leg to the zipline.  In the conversation with Nicole and Victor, both sisters jumped on Nicole for verifying the information given to them.  In that conversation, Nicole mentions "victim"  Rachel then jumps into the fray with "You want to know who the victim really is..."  Elissa shuts Rachel down.   The whole vibe of the U-turn when Rachel complains about her being U-turn shows such a whiny entitlement side of Rachel.  In the other TAR, she felt she had to win to get married and then to pay for a baby.   Just a sense of entitlement not confidence.   I can easily do without her on the show.   And to paraphase an old Roy Clark song: " Thank God and Greyhound you are gone"

To jump in on this, Nicole also mentioned how she and Elissa had an agreement to put all the drama behind them when they arrived at the pitstop, and the fact that Rachel was still willing to go for the low blows not only turned Nicole off, but I suspect that was another reason why Chris & Bret, who were there watching all this drama go down, were so willing to vote for Rachel & Elissa.

Quote
Reality TV World: Voting for the double U-Turn in front of everybody was a pretty shocking twist for The Amazing Race. What did you girls think of that voting format in general? And do you think Racers would have targeted different teams had they been able to vote anonymously?

Rachel Reilly: I think it's such a fun twist that The Amazing Race came up with for Season 31, because they've never done the U-Turn vote.

And how appropriate that it was on a reality show when you have Survivor, Big Brother and The Amazing Race all competing for the million dollar prize?! So for me, I thought it was such a really fun thing they added this season.

Quote
Reality TV World: What was your reaction when you found out Nicole Franzel had actually whispered in Victor Arroyo's ear that she wanted to U-Turn you girls instead of Leo Temory and Jamal Zadran? Were things still awkward between you girls and Nicole and Victor at that point?

Rachel Reilly: Oh my gosh Switzerland is so much fun, how could anything be awkward?! (Laughs)

Quote
Reality TV World: You told Leo and Jamal you had made a Big Brother pact with Nicole and Victor. Did you make that pact before or during The Amazing Race, and what did the pact entail? Were Britney Haynes and Janelle Pierzina a part of the pact as well?

Rachel Reilly: Oh my god, isn't Leo and Jamal the best team ever?! They were so much fun and they're just great Racers. And we're in Switzerland! It's such an amazing place to be...

Elissa Slater: We weren't thinking about anything other than the fact we were in Switzerland...

Rachel Reilly: And Elissa, how much fun did we have with Janelle and Britney?! They are the best. They are such great girls...

Reality TV World: So Britney and Janelle were part of your Big Brother pact then, it sounds like?

Rachel Reilly: We had so much fun on The Amazing Race! It's such a great adventure, and can you believe I raced 33 legs?! What an amazing experience I've had on this show... I've had all these experiences when we're at Christmas dinner, when we're older, we can talk about.

It's just been this crazy, fun, amazing experience, and it's all been televised. I'm so blessed and lucky to have been on this show, and it's fun you get to learn about different cultures when you go on The Amazing Race... I've grown so much as a person from being on this show.

Good to see Rachel's not bitter!
