TAR Canada: Best and Worst Legs
« on: February 13, 2019, 02:21:38 PM »
I don't think one existed already, so while waiting for season 7, I was thinking yesterday about TARC most epic leg!

Legs that come to mind: Here is my top 11

- Season 1, leg 5 Regina: Epic detour with U-Turn drama, hard roadblock, airport flight drama, a hard luck task, Ukrainian dance task and even the first Whitehorse task was nice!
- Season 4, leg 11 Montreal: Best finale, lots of task, the ranking kept changing, the final task was great, really showed Montreal better then in Season 2 (I'm a bit biased here)
- Season 6, leg 9 Mexico: Great tasks, the roadblock was super hard, good detour, telenovela task, race to the mat, sad elimination
- Season 2, leg 8 Paris: Epic roadblock with the mentos task!  Mickey and Pete going to the wrong location, the twins being eliminated!
- Season 3, leg 5 Magdalen Island: A great leg with the first ever face-off, hard roadblock, lots of quitting and weird things going one, surprising end result!
- Season 4, leg 4 Vietnam 2: Karaoke Task, Kelly/Kate winning the leg, hard roadblock, eating bugs challenge,
- Season 5, leg 8 Panama: Great task, the detour was great Beer vs Boxing, great roadblock and additional task just before the pitstop, + the 2 possible Panama sign
- Season 2, leg 3 Hong Kong: First international leg! U-Turn drama, cool detour, Snake roadblock, Bruce Lee!
- Season 5, leg 4 Beijing: The great wall of China, great diving challenge and the roadblock was original
- Season 1, leg 3 Calgary: Hard dance roadblock, cool scenery with Drumheller, nice race to the mat with the Tims vs. The doctors doing the dino detour.
- Season 2, leg 10 PEI: The race's first visit to PEI, cool roadblock, race between the hockey girls v. Sukhi and Jinder for first, and the race for last place!

What's yours?

TARCAN 1 Nunavut leg. Only time the Canadian territory of Nunavut is visited in the entire franchise. Started off with a language barrier clue. It had really cool tasks. Also the excessive snow makes for a really tough leg to navigate. Giving teams snowmobiles to get to the next destination is great. Also walking to the Pit Stop when there is a lot of snow is really challenging.

Best premiere = Victoria via Jasper/Calgary

Jakarta = better use of Indonesia than either the original American edition or the Australian one

I have watched only the first three seasons of TAR Canada in cable channel, but Lifetime SE Asia has not giving a contract to air subsequent seasons.

6 = 80%
3 = 65%

Ive been re watching season 1 and it's sooooo goood!
The casting is what really makes this season great, imagine if there was 10 or 11 teams and 2 more episodes!

My ranking would go:

TARCAN 1: 95%: Loved every time (even if we didn't see much of the first 2 out)
TARCAN 2: 90%: 11 great teams, everybody had their own stories except Shahla & Nabeela)
TARCAN 4: 85%: Teams were great, almost perfect boot order
TARCAN 6: 80%: Great cast, didn't went overboard with the Hero teams, task were a bit meh, too much dancing
TARCAN 5: 70%: Cast was a bit bland, some great legs, other meh
TARCAN 3: 60%:  Loved only 5-6 teams out of the 12

I feel like casting and boot order is really what makes a season great or not, not so much the location. Tasks are also important.

The problem with S3/S5 is the boot order: all the interesting teams going in the middle, imagine a final 3 of: Sean/Brett, Brian/Cynthia and Neil/Kristen
and Sean/Paul, Adam/Andrea and Karen/Bert for S5.

From memory only:
-almost any leg from S2 BUT THE BEST FOR ME was Normandy. Maybe that's just me being Canadian or me being an history buff. I still can't watch the Pitstop sequence without crying.
-S1 Quebec City (the canons/map prank), Regina and Nunavut

I try to forget bad legs but the S3 Edmonton leg comes to mind.

Y'all are really lenient in giving TARCAN 3 60% when its barely 30%

Au contraire, that percentage equals a D-.
