I'm just afraid that we will get 10 teams with sob stories, and that all the focus is on the team's personal stories/past drama and we loose the aspect of the race/game

It didn't happen on Heroes' Edition and it won't on this one either.

Not season or really TAR-specific news, but producers John Brunton and Barbara Bowlby were just awarded the Order of Canada (a high civilian honour)

So applications closed Jan 2nd. I think the 2nd round stage is happening (going to major cities to do interviews) as a few producers/casting people have been posting from various cities other than Toronto.

At this point, there are still about 6 weeks behind if we base it on last year

Perhaps the filming schedule has been pushed back?

So why the filming for TAR Canada hasn't always from April to May?

Interestingly, TARCAN5 broke the alternating May-April pattern of the first four seasons by filming ahead of schedule, so this upcoming one might just return to the precedent set by 1 and 3.

Why would this happen if may occur with the TAR 31 airing schedule this coming May?

Their TAR running is totally independent of our TAR airing. :funny:

I wonder if filming will be pushed back of the six weeks (being that the deadline was 6 weeks late) or if they will be just quicker to cast.

I'm hoping for a end of April regular date! The faster the better, I love when we are live and looking for them  :cheer:

I hope it's still late April/May filming, as if I don't have a busy enough May to add to it running around the city and hanging out at the airport  :funny:

Seriously, I hope that filming wraps up by the time that Season 31 premieres.

 I wish j/d and f/a both returned :'(

J/d stands the best chance of making it far again.

I wonder if we are rounding out a newbie or 2nd chance allstar cast?

It's clearly the former, TARCAN's answer to BBCAN5.

Maybe a split cast? Returnees trying for a 2nd chance mixed with new teams who've experienced a life-changing event.

Ms. S called it!

I wonder if they will also start later because of Easter being late this year, so they would have them in a sequester later in the month.

I would think the filming date will start in last Saturday of April because Easter is April 21. TAR Canada 2 also started in a late Saturday of April, 2014 that the Easter was on April 20.

Just a thought I had today. This would be the golden year to cast that elusive Saskatchewan team we've never gotten yet.

Sask was one of the biggest things at the center of the Canadian/international media spotlight last year for the bus crash of the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team (1 year as of April 6). So I'd guess that if they don't mention this at some point on the race, with the Second Chances theme - 16 dead. 13 injured, several permanently - there's a chance they might cast somebody connected to it.

TARCAN has yet to cast the blonde mean-girl archetype e.g. 17's Volleyballers, 25's Realtors, etc., so it'd be hella neat to see Regina's or Saskatoon's answer to BBCAN6 Olivia as a complementary contrast to Hero(in)es' Edition.

Not happening. They are not casting villains anymore... Only "inspirational" boring teams who bring no drama. TARCAN casting died after TARCAN4, not expecting change with this second chance in life theme this season.
