This thread is the WORKZONE of our spoilers.

This is where ALL the spoiler speculation/discussion of the TAR 31 race goes, NOT in the LIVE thread. It is where we try to thrash out what the LIVE sightings mean.

(If the start is LIVE, then we will use that thread for all sightings Start to Airport Departure.)

ALL Discussion of the LIVE Sightings and comments on them go here!

As always, per RFF's practices, we do not spoil the start location (if known) or any teams until it is believed that the teams are safely underway. We would never want to put a team in jeopardy or cause them distress or interfere with the actual running of the race. Info on future legs may also occasionally be protected for those reasons. But if you have info to share beforehand, we would love to know, so please feel free to PM or email me! Spoilers are treasured!

This thread will be opened once the race is beginning.

So, they are off to Tokyo.

Do we think that we could have 2 legs in Japan? One leg in Tokyo and maybe the other in Hiroshima/Nagasaki?

What comes after Japan? Papua New Guinea? And them maybe down to Australia/New Zealand?

I believe that Legs 1-5 could look like this...

1. Tokyo, Japan
2. Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Japan
3. Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (depending on safety concerns and if production want to take the risk of going there.)
4. Gold Coast, Australia
5. Melbourne, Australia

If teams don't go to Papua New Guinea, then I think Indonesia or New Zealand could be replacement legs!

Their flight landed in Narita just over half an hour ago, now would be a good time to start looking for more sightings

It generally takes around 30-60 minutes, to clear immigration, baggage claim and custom, at Narita Airport. That might mean, we could get sightings within an hour.

However, this article is from 2011, so I don't know how well updated it is now in 2018

Can Konno Hachimangu Shrine and Shinjuku Central Park be ruled out as locations, or will they visit either for the third time?

To be exact, Pink Team is standing in front of Reikyou, a Taiwanese restaurant in Shibuya (see here).

Looks like they are looking for something in that alley way. Anything that stands out ?

Maybe they were looking for a particular shop, sort of like the TAR 24 leg 1 wedding task

If teams were seen running around Shibuya late in the evening- possibly even getting close to midnight, I would lean towards leg 1 being a Tokyo-night leg.

Even with deplaning and customs teams should still be in Tokyo proper by ~6pm.

4-6 hours seems long enough for a decent full first leg to me.

Is it just me or is there a dearth of live sightings? I remember in recent seasons that this board was hopping non stop with pics and vids. Am I in the wrong thread maybe? It's awfully quiet :D.
(I'm not saying this in a mean way, but in genuine confusion.)

Yes, it's more quiet than I would have expected, but there haven't been as many sightings, or at least not easily-findable ones.
That might be due to teams racing later in the day, when it's dark, and Peach suggested that it is common to lose teams in Tokyo (or Japan in general).
I still expect this to be one of the most spoiled seasons ever, as we've got so many teams that have crazy fans looking to track them, lol.

Do you think they are still racing for the first leg? I wonder why there haven't been many sightings. It's kinda unusually slow.

Well we had a post  nearly 12 hours ago of them racing...so I would expect that they have finished leg 1. Probably resting now, hopefully to start soon!

You all can help...watch Twitter and Facebook and IG for Amazing Race mentions...the more of us looking the better!

We don't know if this a one leg in Japan, or if they might go somewhere else in Japan. SO stay looking!

Fair Question! We always have trouble in Tokyo with sightings, India as well. But once they are on the move again we would hope to pick them back up. It is now about 10AM In Tokyo...fair to think they could be on the move again soon!!You can help by joining the team looking on twitter, Facebook, Instagram for Amazing Race mentions. It takes a village!

But if they finished late last night, wouldn’t they get a later start today?

There'll be photos in due time. It's very plausible that we could get an influx overnight tonight.
