the person second from the left is the afro-canadian's team-mate - same yellow headband, (man) bun, dark sweater? with yellow shirt showing underneath - you can see this in the picture of them running in Dawson City

Jon just did another LIVE facebook "guess where I am" - looks like he is in Duncan, BC on Vancouver Island.

From Wikipedia, Duncan BC is "the smallest city by area (2.07 square kilometres, 0.8 square miles) in the nation". Maybe they already went there as part of Leg 1?

I'm so confused lol....

Is this really live? If so, why would they start in Victoria, go to Squamish, fly to Dawson City, and then go back to Duncan, 1h06 minutes from the Starting Line... this makes no sense haha...

The only thing that would make sense is if this was part of leg 1

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. It would make no sense to come all the way back south.

Imagine if they announce the place they're at while they're still there? The locals who guess it would come out and swarm them. Which would be a godsend for the detectives here  but...probably not what the producers would like happening.

I checked the weather reports of both nearby Chemainus as well as YYJ for this week and the maximum temperature on Monday/Tuesday was well under 20 degrees.

In other words, they did fly BC -> YT -> BC.

I really think they are over doing BC.... I mean it's a very beautiful province, but every year having 2 legs is a lot.
I mean there is soo much more to see.

Anyway, going back to our business, I feel like they may also make a stop in Nanaimo, because Duncan is small and they may not do the full leg there.

There wasn't enough time from the startline until they got to Swartz Bay for them to go all the way to Duncan, then circle back. This has to be Leg 3.
Also, it's not live, right now... it's to come.

i wonder if Stunami is right about pre-taping this while on Vancouver Island? Although, if they ran around downtown Victoria and then up to Duncan, only 1 hr drive, could they make it the 1 hr 15 min drive to catch the Ferry at Swartz Bay? Maybe the 2 cars/teams that were pictured at Swartz Bay got double fast forward passes?

When colleagues do LIVE facebook video posts the picture is often reversed. It didn't look like Jon was reversed so maybe pre-taped?

Also, I just checked the LIVE start - was it possibly pre-taped earlier in the day giving them more time on Vancouver Island?

Teams should be en route soon tbh! They should have gone international tbh.

They could very well go out via Vancouver leg 4 like last year, which basically means Asia or Oceania.

The starting line was around 2h and some teams were spotted on the ferry around 5... that leaves 3h but it's not much.
Jon has different clothes and the temperature of Duncan on Monday was around 19... So I really think this is live / leg 3... but it just doesn't really make sense

I was just going to say the temp on Monday was only 19. LOL. After last year's zig zag route, nothing is predictable. Teams are en route now but filming won't be today. If people get the bright idea to swarm the track cos they think it's happening right now, they will be disappointed.

I don't disagree at all, but the show managed to limit themselves to just Haida Gwaii two years ago.

Anyhow, it feels like Winnipeg - with an outside chance of Edmonton - will be the return destination from what I surmise to be South Asia.

If Leg 2 was yesterday, they might have start leg 3 this morning.
How long does it takes to go from Dawson City to Vancouver? They could be in Duncan in a few hours?

Dawson City is a 5 hr plus flight - although there may not be a direct flight so probably longer. Then over to Duncan from YVR via ferry 4 hrs plus driving.

If they were to travel internationally via Vancouver on leg 3, could Jon, with enough time ahead of the teams, go to Duncan after landing in Vancouver/Victoria, film the clip making it live, and then return to Vancouver Airport?

But why would they do that? Why not have Leg 3 Duncan and they go for leg 4 international?
If Leg 3 was an elimination leg, that would be 1 less team to go = a bit of saving there.

Wait so they want from Squamish to the Yukon and now back to Vancouver Island?

Exactly. It's all about the budget.

To the casual fans aka the non-spoilery enthusiasts, this will seem like they are filming Leg 2 now. Dawson City will be a surprise.

Vancouver has connecting flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland in Oceania

Tokyo, Manila, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Taipei in Asia

Could these be possible Leg 4 international destinations???

They could also go east to Europe - London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris are popular routes
