Welcome to Thailand! Our castaways arrive by boat to a remote lake in the foothils of the border between Thailand and Myanmar during the dry season.
After 39 days out here there will be one Survivor as we head to the credits

The boat drops our castaways on a tiny island with Matt welcoming them and in showing how small New Zealand is, two of the contestants were actually best friends in High School being Dave and Matt. They talk about hiding their friendship from everyone else. Matt informs everyone that hidden immunity idols are in play this season with no Redemption Island. Once you're gone, you're gone.
They talk about how the increased prize pool will change how people play the game.

To start off we have an individual reward challenge. There are 18 bags tied up in huge knots. First 9 to untie will move onto round 2. In round 2 they will swim out to a pontoon with a number of boxes tied shut and in just 3 of those boxes are bags. Only 3 people go to the final round. Finally they swim back to shore with both bags to a puzzle table. First person to order their numbers correctly wins reward.

The challenge starts off with the first 9 quickly getting their bags and second round starting off and it's a hard swim out but we get our final 3 of Aaron, Matt and Jose who begin to swim back to shore. Everyone getting into their way of ordering the numbers as Matt and Aaron start an early lead but Jose makes a comeback as she wins reward! She needs to pick one person for reward and she picks Matt since he was so close and the reward is.. They get to pick their own tribe as we head to break

Back from break Jose gets to pick first and the buff colour. She picks blue while Matt gets yellow with them needing to alternate between men and women. Jose takes Aaron, Matt goes Tara.

Round 2 Jose takes Eve and Matt takes Josh,

Round 3, Jose takes Dave as we get a confessional about Matt saying why he didn't want to pick Dave and talk about getting to the merge. Matt takes Tess,

Round 4, Jose takes Franky and Matt takes Brad,

Round 5, Jose takes Liam and Matt takes Kaysha

Round 6, Jose takes Renee and Matt takes Adam.

Round 7, Jose takes JT and Matt takes Lisa

Final round, Jose takes Karla and Matt gets Dylan.

Yellow tribe is Khangkhaw and Blue is Chani. Matt congrulates the tribes and sends them to their islands.

Chani arrive at their island and grab their supplies with Liam indicating that he feels this season will be much harder on the food front as opposed to last season. Eve thinks that Jose has emerged as leader simply because of the challenge win and that she may have a target on her back because of it.

Khangkhaw arrive at camp and Arrun is in awe of where he is. Josh is focused on the shelter and comments on how well they are working together.

Over at Chani Karla has cut herself on the bamboo or the machete and is worried about how she is at the bottom of the foodchain there as she was picked last.

JT talks about he is an average guy and talks with Arrun about an alliance as they look for the idol. Liam thinks that no one wants to get into playing the game yet as Eve also talks with JT about alliances and then talks with Dave about that then Franky joins the alliance so they have 5 of them.

Tara hopes to play camp mother as she guides about getting it set up. Lisa looks a bit for any clues to the idol and hopes people see her as non-threatening. Tess talks about being a Survivor rookie as Lisa talks her out of looking for the idol.

Arrun feels he might be assigned as a leader as the camp takes shape for both sides with them trying to make fire for food. Jose is happy so far as she has won a challenge as the Chani tribe takes a dip in the water while Franky talks about Jose being quite loud as we head to break.

Day 2 begins with a reward challenge at mud pits as Matt asks the teams if they have made fire and cooked rice yet. Todays reward is tools such as rope, tarpulin with flint to make fire as well. Two pairs head out into the mud where they dig for sacks to take back to their mat however the other tribe can stop them. To score a point one person needs to be standing on their bag. First tribe to score 3 points wins reward. Jose gets the first bag and the first point for Chani.

The boys go at it for round 2 and Khangkhaw gets a point in a physical round. Round 3 is back to the girls for a physical and Tess gets a point for Khangkhaw so they are up 2 - 1 as it's back to the boys and with a quick pass Brad gets across the line as Khangkhaw win reward! Matt wishes Adam a Happy Birthday as he collects the reward for his tribe as the tribes head back to camp as we head to break.

Khangkhaw are happy at camp with the fire while Chani are trying to get that fire going with the energy being sapped  trying to get the fire going. Khangkhaw added some rocks to their fire which didn't work because they started exploding. Small explosions mind you as they work on their shelter with Adam saying he hasn't been doing much but doesn't think people have noticed.

Dylan and Kaysha talk strategy and an immunity idol with an alliance. They eat their cooked rice and sing Happy Birthday in Maori to Adam.

Chani have some rice cooked in the sun but it was still raw. Jose talks about keeping the mentality up as they head to the next challenge on Day 3 which is an obstacle course for immunity then with a puzzle at the end. First to solve the puzzle wins immunity as losing tribe will head to tribal council where someone will be voted out. There is a bonus of Flint for the winning tribe which may not mean much to Khangkhaw but it can mess with Chani

Khangkhaw take a lead as Chani fall behind early but Chani make some progress in the obstacle course and are catching up with it being close with Chani taking a lead at the key guiding part where Khangkhaw regan the lead as they head onto the puzzle with Chani reasonably close behind but Khangkhaw win immunity and a second flint!

Chani will be heading to tribal council to vote out the first person as we head to break.

At Chani, Franky feels she might be on the chopping block. Franky suggests Karla as the weakest link. Jose doesn't want to send anyone home and wanted to avoid it as long as possible.

At Tribal people make their case and try to be upbeat as Matt sends us to the vote. Matt asks if anyone has an immunity idol which no one does before he reads the votes. First vote Karla, Second vote Jose, Third vote Karla, Fourth vote Jose, Fifth vote Karla, Sixth vote Jose, Seventh vote Jose, Eight vote Jose and she is the first person voted off in a surprise.

Matt reckons it will be harder for them to win challenges without Jose but he gives them flint so they can make fire. Everyone heads back to Camp as the first episode ends

Next time! The elements take a toll on Chani, Tribe loyalty is put to the test, the ultimate reward and sickening consequences for Khangkhaw.

Thanks SamualDude for the updates, definitely helps with learning the names.

Thought it was an enjoyable premiere.

We saw a lot of the contestants and had several hilarious moments. (The exploding rocks & JT forming an alliance with scenes of Liam completely unaware of alliances spliced in)

Nice that Redemption Island is gone and idols are in play. However, the schoolyard pick of tribes gives me some pause. (Mostly because of the bad taste of other seasons that have included it, especially US Survivor Thailand)

Show content
The entire episode was Jose's downfall. (An unfortunate case of being too vocal too early) She seemed liked she could have been an interesting player.

Hoping for a good season.

Much better than the last season!

Jose came out too strong when she won the first challenge.
Exploding rocks.
The mud wrestling challenge was like everyone fighting for the last Chanel Bag on Black Friday. LOL
That voting urn is one of the biggest. Like an oversized mailbox.
The snuffer is like a huge ass golf club with a fancy end. LOL

What a blindside to kick off the season.

Adam didn't give 2 f**** at the immunity challenge. He let someone else untie the knots for the maze just to fix his hair LOL.

Previously on Survivor: New Zealand. 18 castaways arrived in Thailand for Season 2. They split into 2 tribes, set up camp and secret alliances, went head to head in 2 challenges with Khangkhaw winning both sending Chani to eliminate Jose from the game in a surprise.

Liam is in shock as wasn't expecting Jose to go. JT is fine to see Jose go as he sees her as a threat. Karla sees the vote as an indication that she will be the second target as we go to the intro credits.

Day 4 begins with Chani finally eating cooked rice. Khangkhaw is in a good mood but Dylan is looking at other options for alliances while Josh talks about keeping Dylan around as a target for later. Tess doesn't trust Kaysha at the moment but Adam does although feels it isn't a good move for her to be aligned with Dylan as he likes Kaysha.

Our first challenge is our second team reward challenge and Chani feel confident. Khangkhaw have learnt that Jose was voted out and Dylan says it says a lot when the person who won the first challenge is the first voted out since it shows this is a season out for blood. Today's challenge is a swim out to a pontoon in a relay style to smash 5 tiles which will drop a key each to unlock a chest which has a ball in it. One person will use that ball to smash 5 tiles. First to smash their tiles wins. Today's reward is a lot of fresh tropical fruit with Adam saying how much he wants the watermelon lol.

The challenge begins and the first pair are neck and neck as it goes to the second pair close as well until the tile is smashed and Chani take the lead. Kaysha misses on her first attempt for Khangkhaw as Chani take the lead. Kaysha comes back and collapses so the medic goes over thankfully she is ok! Matt mentions that the weather was 40 degrees Celsius today!

Khangkhaw are coming back though as Chani have the lead as Arun is working on throwing and gets the first tile. Arun gets two but Brad gets one back then gets the second. Brad gets his third then his fourth closely then his fifth as Khangkhaw come back and win reward! Kaysha has hurt her ankle from the look of it as the teams head back to Camp but Adam throws up as we head to break.

Back from the break as Khangkhaw are worried about Adam. While Adam has a laugh because his family is going to be embarrassed. They all head back to Camp with their reward. Adam gives the tribe a lesson about Watermelon which has the tribe in good spirits but a hidden immunity idol looms in the background.

Day 5 dawns at Chani with tree mail as each tribe must send one member to the Outpost. JT volunteers to go, Dave is a bit sceptical about what will happen with JT and so is Franky. Khangkhaw discuss it and Dylan is keen while Matt wants one of his group to go so they draw straws with Tess going. Kaysha thinks it could be hidden immunity idol clues.

They arrive at the Outpost and Matt explains that each time they are summoned it must be a new member of each tribe, it could be a challenge, a dilemma or both but whatever happens will have consequences on the game. A fire making challenge is on today and the fire must be high enough to burn a rope. They are playing for reward today but they won't find out until the victory incurs. Tess has flame first followed by JT but Tess gets it first and wins reward and she gets a hidden immunity idol clue. Before they head back to camp Matt advises that they can tell their tribe whatever they want and they can discuss whatever they like with the opposition right here. JT wants to know the clue as we head to break.

Back from the break, Tess weighs up her options and shows him the clue which reveals where it will be so close to the next challenge. Tess realises she has made a mistake in a big way.

At Khangkhaw, Tess reveals about the challenge and beat JT. Tess says the reward was tarp and mattresses but for both tribes which she says she didn't take because she didn't want to help the others which they accept. Kaysha isn't 100% trusting of Tess and neither is Dylan.

Over at Chani JT reveals the whole truth about the idol BUT that the idol isn't for them. Eve is happy that he told the truth but Arun isn't convinced. Later Arun and JT talk where JT reveals about the truth and discuss letting Dave and Eve know about it which they decide is a good idea. Eve is concerned about the rain which does come down and heavily! Chani didn't have a good night but Franky and Karla had the worst

At Khangkhaw Tess confesses the truth to Adam and to reveal the truth to their alliance but at Chani Franky is not doing good. She was vomiting quite a lot during the night while Karla talks about voting Franky out if need be as we head to break.

Back from the break Khangkhaw's alliance talk about getting the idol under the mat and so does JT as they arrive at the immunity idol. Three members of each tribe will have a pole on their shoulders and the opposing tribe will add weights at choice. Once it becomes too much for a person to bear and they drop they are out. Last tribe standing wins immunity. It must be two men and one woman but Brad quickly grabs the idol so he is safe and no one noticed.

Chani have Renee, Arun and Dave for Khangkhaw it is Brad, Josh and Kaysha. The game progresses with more weights added with Dave being the first down. Renee goes down second with Arun only  remaining for Chani and Arun goes down so Khangkhaw wins immunity so they are now 4-0 in Challenges

Chani are gutted to lose another challenge so Matt sends the tribes back to Camp as we head to break.

Back from the break at Chani as they talk about the challenge and who got the idol with the alliance over at Khangkhaw. Dave talks about hoping he makes it to the merge with Matt because if he can slip into that alliance if need be. JT thinks that Brad has the idol.

At Khangkhaw, They are happy about the idol and Brad reads out the rules about the idol so it can only be used up till final 5. JT and Liam talk about voting Karla out but JT thinks about taking out Franky.

Karla is nervous and still feels she can argue for Franky. Renee and Franky talk about Karla as well but Renee is unsure between both of them.

Matt welcomes Chani to Tribal Council. Karla and Franky argue their case to stay in and the other tribe members put forward they are still in this game and can win but now it is time to vote.

Matt tallies the votes for today. First vote Karla, Second vote Karla, Third vote Karla, Fourth vote Karla, Fifth vote sends Karla home unfortunately. Karla wishes her tribe well and wants them to win as she leaves then Chani head back to Camp.

Next time on Survivor: New Zealand! Khangkhaw start to turn on their own while greed for an idol gets to Chani.

It is better than last season, though there's still some areas it can improve.  In the latest episode nobody was pleading their case at tribal and I thought Frankie was way too late working out that if Eve played her idol she'd need an alternative target.  The outpost tasks are never going to get people from different tribes working together it's obvious there's just too much suspicion.

Previously on Survivor: New Zealand. A desperate Chani takes a win while Eve played an error revealing the immunity idol clue which causes a stir in her tribe. Dylan found himself on the outs and Chani lost immunity challenge again and Franky is the third gone.

Renee is sad that Franky is gone as they are desperate for a immunity challenge win. Day 10 at Chani and Liam is still amazed at his surroundings in Thailand.

Over at Khangkhaw Dylan feels he will be on the line if they lose immunity challenge. Adam describes the 4 dimensions of Dylan but Dylan isn't worried that Adam doesn't like him. Josh feels a loss at Immunity wouldn't be bad because it would show the alliances.

Matt greets the tribes for reward challenge. Today is Sumo with ten points to win and today they are playing for drinking chocolate, sugar, tea and coffee. Brad, Lisa and Tara sitting out for Khangkhaw.

Khangkhaw get round 1, Round 2 to Chani, Round 3 to Chani, Round 4 to Khangkhaw then quickly they take round 5 as well.  Round 6 to Khangkaw then Round 7 and 8 as well. Chani get Round 9 and 10. Round 11 and 12 to Khangkhaw. Round 13 to Chani. Round 14 to Khangkhaw then Khangkhaw wins reward in round 15!

Khangkhaw are so happy with reward and their biscuits meanwhile back at Chani. Renee feels it might be a boys club with an alliance between JT, Arun and Dave as we head to break.

Day 11 at Khangkhaw Kaysha talks about the two power couples being Adam and Tess alongside Josh and Brad. She has Tess as a threat because she is the shining star and has the boys captivated. Kaysha thinks she can sway Matt over to her side as they have a really good relationship. Brad finds tree mail and it's outpost time. Dylan wants to go to outpost and after drawing straws it is revealed that Josh is going.

Chani sends their member being Arun after some rigging with the straws from JT. Matt welcomes them to Outpost and today they face a dilemma. Both tribes will have one person stay back from immunity tomorrow however if their tribe loses that person who stays behind is immune from the vote. Arun and Josh talk about their tribes. Josh and Arun form an alliance. Josh is going to bench himself and Arun is going to bench Eve so they can win one.

Back at Chani Arun spills the beans on everything. Eve is fine with sitting out. Renee is worried that she'll be gone if they lose. At Khangkhaw, Josh tells them what went down and Kaysha is worried about the play being made as we head to break.

Back from break, it's immunity and Arun hopes today is their day. For today's challenge, 4 members are chained together by their ankles. The two on each side have one wrist tied to a pole. They must undo the knots then go through an obstacle course collecting bags with balls and chains. Once they have all the bags the fifth member will use them to make bolas and then do a ladder toss. First to get three bolas on the ladder wins. Adam, Kaysha and Dylan sitting it out for Khangkhaw.

Chani quickly get their knots and are underway but after quite a day Khangkhaw are off but Chani have a big lead as they get all their bags while Khangkhaw has 4. Arun is making progress on the bolas. Brad in no big rush for Khangkhaw as Arun lands his first bola then his second followed by his third as Chani FINALLY win immunity! Kaysha knows that Tess messed up the challenge at the start with the knots and is not happy. Kaysha says if she had the numbers it would be Tess gone tonight.

Tess is worried that Kaysha may get the numbers and Dylan is worried that he'll be gone as well as Josh tells him that he doesn't trust him. Kaysha is going to try to convince them Dylan or Tess have an idol to draw a split vote and take out Adam but her plan to convince them doesn't go well so Dylan goes idol hunting.

At Tribal Council, Dylan knows that he is on the chopping block. Dylan tells Adam that he feels Adam doesn't want to be here and Adam says he doesn't like Dylan because he is throwing everyone else's name out to save his own. Lisa calls out Dylan and Kaysha stands up for Dylan and it is time to vote with Josh being safe for tonight.

First vote Dylan, Second vote Dylan, Third vote Adam, Fourth vote Tess,  Fifth vote Kaysha, Sixth vote Kaysha, Seventh vote Kaysha and fourth person voted out is Kaysha in a big shock. Dylan's face tells the entire story right now.

Next time Dylan prepares for the worst and a twist in the game sees childhood friends reunited

I really liked the last episode, I think it was the best so far on this version. The result didn't go my way still but at least the tribe switch gave a chance for some drama.  I don't know why Eve had to go to the host to get her idol back, a cameraman could have just have given it to her.

Sorry guys! Been busy but doing a quick recap for tonight's episode.

Day 16 has new alliances at Chani with Dylan and the old Chani members. Josh had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma about a year ago and while in the hospital bed he told his mum he'd be on this season of Survivor which is cool.

Today's reward is for Pizza Hut who is the sponsor again this season with Chani taking reward after building a bridge and a sliding puzzle.

Outpost has Tara from Khangkhaw, Arun rigs for outpost so sends Renee as they didn't want Dylan to go. Today is a color tile memory challenge for reward to take two items from the other tribe's camp. Renee wins reward and takes the tarp and coffee from Khangkhaw

The original three Chani decide to throw the immunity challenge which goes to success and Josh is shocked as he has been voted out from Chani.

Next time trust is challenged, a challenge is conceded by a tribe and a shock shakes up Khangkhaw.

This was a really good episode!
I was so nervous by the vote at TC, because old Chani seemed to be concerned, but thank god they voted out a Khang Khaw, so nice move!

I really do like Renee, she's growing on me.

And, what is going to happen next week? Is Tara leaving? ;(

This episode really felt like a culmination of what we've seen so far: Dave & Matt's friendship, Arun & Josh's Outpost alliance, and Adam's hatred of Dylan. On paper, the elimination sounds simple with Dylan being ostracized and flipping, but one thing I really appreciated about this episode was that we saw each player look at the pros and cons of their decisions and everyone got a say. None of the votes felts out of place and we understood each player's motivation coming into tribal. (Same cannot be said for US Survivor)
