It's definitely not an actual audition.

Pretty much the only logical answer. Chances are that it's nothing more than something made solely for Corden's show. Nothing more, nothing less.
I thought that when we fought, I was to blame
Now I know you play a different game
I've seen you dance with danger; still wanting more

He is British and hence unable to apply. Great publicity though!

Now if we had this when TAR30 was airing, it would have quite possibly gauged the viewership higher with the late show watchers. Great effort on Devine and Corden's "faux"dition though. :clap2:

It would be nice if TAR could cast a team with this much hyperness.

I not only want new racers, I hope we do NOT ever see some of the gimmicks we saw last year - switching up teams, having challenges at the finish line (which totally sucked for the skiers since they came in first one leg but didn't do so well at the challenge and lost the first place prize), etc. etc. etc.

I'm gonna stray away from the all-star discussion.

How about the 25-30 days? Doesn't Phil usually advertise this with "12 legs, 21 days"? Could this mean a longer-than-usual route?

I think that is a general info post for racer planning, not a confirmed # of days. But 23-25 seems more usual lately.

Despite that tagline, most seasons are longer than 21 days (even when taking away a day due to crossing the international date line). The last season that was 21 days was season 24

Are you thinking that we could go back to the 13 leg races?

I would love to have 13 legs in the original American race since it was last used in the first All-Stars.

I think that includes whatever time was spent in sequester pre-race. Jody mentioned in a video (?) that they were in a hotel for five days before the starting date.

This might b more on the wishlist side, but I hope they never go back to 13-leg races, unless those include 12 teams.
Those early seasons felt so predictable to me, because the 13th leg required another NEL to be added, which slowed down the pace of the race.

I much prefer the current format.

I think it's more likely they go down to 11 Legs than ever back up to 13 Legs. Especially if CBS wants to use TAR to bridge Survivor seasons on Wednesdays again. They obviously found much success using TAR in that slot and might do even better with a regular schedule. Though even with 11 Legs, CBS would still have to double-up at least maybe the premiere and finales to squeeze the show into the slot before Survivor would return end of February.

Otherwise, they'll stick with 12. Especially if TAR31 gets a fall slot.

Renewal is now officially official. CBS just renewed the bulk of their shows, TAR among them. Perhaps a kind soul can link to the Deadline article.

Don't know if this means anything but they haven't really said "renewed for Season 31". Just renewed for "2018-2019 season". Does anyone think they are going back to 2 cycles a year?

I'll be in Melbourne for this time period!  :funny:

But anyway, great news for this amazing show!

Would be the 2018-19 season mean it will air half in 2018 and 2019, or 2 TARs between this year and next year? ???

Best be cautious and expect just one season to stave off the disappointment of raised expectations - the show's on course to lose its fourth consecutive Emmy later this year anyhow.

Agree with Granth tbh, let's not expect 2 seasons unless explicitly announced.

They never say that. It is usually a renew one +an "unofficial" renew a second, so planning can begin. We have to wait for upfronts for a fall date vs the mid-season replacement thing.

I really think TAR will continue its basis to be having one TV season per year when Survivor's schedule is on hiatus.
