And here we commence!

Previously on TAR, 9 teams flew from Antwerp, Belgium to Tangier, Morocco! Teams rocked the Kasbah, but mistakes were made! And advantages were gained! The exhausting day took a toll on Cedric. "I'm just hard. It's just hard," dropping Team Slam Dunk to the back of the pack. Yale and Indy were in a foot race to 1st which ended up Evan/Henry earning 1st, and Cedric & Shawn had a bad day, but were saved!

9 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?!

Henry & Evan are shown receiving a trip from Santorini.

They depart at 11:34 to Nice, France! Teams must travel to Saint-Tropez upon landing and travel along the coast to a beach for their next clue.

Indy depart in 2nd a minute behind Yale. They believed speed limits are unfair, but must obey them... okay.
Kristi & Jen depart 2 minutes behind them followed by Trevor & Chris in 4th.
Cody & Jessica depart 5th in their taxi, and Joey & Tim in 6th, and Eric & Daniel in 7th steering their taxi drivers in maps.

Lucas & Brittany are a bit at unease with the traffic. Brittany's father believes Luke isn't interested in marriage, but wants to show that he is. They seem rather sleep deprived...

Cedric & Shawn depart last on their way to the airport. Cedric apologizes that THE RACE IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS! Now that's not something everyone will admit to by the third leg.

We return with teams, in some fashion of teleportation wizardry, arriving in Nice! They are in a mad dash to drive to Saint Tropez! Eric & Daniel immediately drives the wrong way. Before the race, they had a baby and want the money to raise their kids. Eric struggling to drive in reverse and are pushing their car - along the expressway, hahaha.

Kristi & Jen and Alex & Conor driving in awe. Cody & Jessica is also in some sort of daze. Kristi & Jen arrive first and notice the Speed Bump!

ROADBLOCK: "Who's ready to break waves?"
One team member must row an Optimus dinghy around a course to pick up two halves of a clue and return successfully without capsizing to move on to the DETOUR!

Alex & Conor arrive 2nd.

Jen "Woohoo we beat the boys!"
Kristi is struggling right off the bat. She can't keep the boat still - like a cat.

Conor: "This is like the Titanic of the Saint-Tropez."

Cody & Jessica arrive 3rd. Meanwhile, Kristi is settled into her boat and sailing away. Alex took 20 minutes to learn how to row. Henry & Evan arrive 4th as Kristi grabs her first half. Jessica plans to massage Cody after this task.

Joey & Tim still driving. Cedric & Shawn arrive at La Mouxe lost, and Eric & Daniel are also lost stopping at a home's gate. Lucas & Brittany are freaking out and decide to stop at a gas station for directions.

Back at the shore, Cody is paddling with one oar - are you serious? And we move on to Evan learning the ropes of steering. Alex grabs his first half while Kristi is passing him by. Alex is rowing the wrong way! LOL

Kristi and Jen open their Detour clue!

DETOUR: Bread
In Bread, teams must make 30 baguettes to receive their next clue. In Tread, teams must go to a cobbler and handcraft a pair of sandals to receive their next clue.

Trevor & Chris arrive next at the boats while Alex returns with only ONE HALF OF A CLUE

Alex forgets the number one rule of the Race: reading the clue entirely, properly, and thoroughly!

Violinists close in and get to sailing. ANd Joey & Tim are right behind them. "This is ridiculous."

Cedric & Shawn determine they drove the wrong way. Eric & Daniel somehow parallel parked their car on someone else's driveway, how?! :snicker:. And Brittany is having an emotional meltdown while Lucas and her are still at the gas station trying to calm down after their recent minor argument, trying to suck it up but can't.

Commercials.

And we come back with Lucas & Brittany apologizing to each other at the gas station. They are learning from each leg of the race how to work better together. Brittany is now genuinely happy and determined to get back in it!

Meanwhile, Alex finally grabs their final half while Cody grabs his first clue. Evan is frustrated with the dinghy and panicking. Trevor & Chris and Joey & Tim are neck-and-neck struggling in the water. Joey capsizes while Cody grabs his 2nd part of the clue. Evan hits the pier and is stuck along the shoreline. "Am I stuck on something?" Uh yes, yes you are.

Cedric & Shawn encounter their SPEED BUMP! They must stack 15 Oculus boats in numerical order on the racks from left to right to proceed to their Roadblock. Shawn and Cedric believe the manual labor made this task a lot easier for them despite the tediousness.

Trevor is finally rowing away with two oars down at once. Joey is steering using the win, another strategy. And Trevor grabs his clue first while Joey is next.

Evan has no idea what she's doing. Rowing with one oar is no help, not moving at all. And suddenly, the metal rod punches Evan's tooths and cracks a bit of it off. :faint: She keeps on going.

Meanwhile, Kristi & Jen are at the sandal Detour! It's more about attention to detail and they figure this strategy out. Meanwhile, Cody & Jessica and Alex & Conor arrive at Bread and begin the process. It's a bakery heaven for both of them while the head baker is shaking his head. Oh geez.

Cedric & Shawn finish their Speed Bump and are allowed to move along to the Roadblock in 7th! Nice job! Lucas & Brittany arrive 8th at the boats. Evan finally realizes the wind would help them blow her boat rather than her manually rowing it with no head with the wind. Meanwhile, Cedric and Lucas are catching up to her. Brittany is in worriment as she sees Cedric constantly capsizing his dinghy. "One team hasn't even showed up!" And that team finally shows up, Eric & Daniel are in last place and arrive at the RB!

"Come on everything quick. It ain't over til it's over!" ~ Eric.

At the Bread Detour, teams figure they did the roll wrong. Baker seems extremely pissed while the Indy drivers are arguing over the form of the bread. Conor complains how he is whiny when nothing goes his way. At the sandals, Kristi & Jen's sandals receive feedback that they have to flatten out their nail heads.

Lucas & Brittany move up to 6th as they grab their last clue half and Evan FINALLY gets hers! Woohoo! Eric & Daniel and Cedric & Shawn are titanic disasters, pun intended. The firefighter is rowing the wrong way and stuck in a corner with the wind holding them back. "It's a murder scene out there. There's no way!" - Shawn. Cedric tips his boat on its side and falls into the water. Shawn is distraught.

We come back as Eric & Daniel and Cedric & Shawn are caught in their own blunders. A cute dog walks by Shawn and he offers him a food for thought. Daniel finally figures out the wind pattern helps his speed while Cedric is following through as well. Physical strength had nothing to do with the dinghy riding smoothly, it required technique and the direction of the wind. They each start grabbing their pair of clues.

Meanwhile, Kristi & Jen finish the sandals and encounter THE HEAD-TO-HEAD! Teams must compete against each other in a traditional game of "boton" (a variation of marbles) to be able to check in with Phil. Last team remaining without a win may be eliminated. Cody & jess and Alex & Conor both working on breads. Trevor describes himself as the Martha Stewart of his house as he and Chris arrive at the sandals. Joey & Tim arrive just behind them.

The Roadblock proves to be wrapping up as Dan and Cedric get their final halves of the clue.

Meanwhile at Place de Lices, Kristi & Jen await their opposing team.

Joey is sweating his ass off as he makes his sandals. Trevor & Chris finish the Detour in 4th and Lucas & Britt follow from behind. Alex & Conor magically finish the breads and are at the petanque, ohhh, okay, battle.

It's Kristi & Jen vs Alex & Conor as the first duel!

Cody & Jessica arrive 3rd and are idle at the courts. Meanwhile, Kristi and Conor facing each other off with Conor's ball in the lead. Jen and Alex are rolling off and Jen knocks the pink jack out of the position!

Please be quiet, Phil. This ain't the NFL...

And Kristi & Jen fall out of 1st and allow Alex & Conor to take up TEAM NUMBER 1, each winning $5,000 post-race as their reward!
Kristi & Jen vs Cody & Jessica up next.

Meanwhile, Joey & Tim finish the sandals in 5th while Henry & Evan are greeted into the sandals factory next.

Jessica throws a ball an inch away from the jack, jeopardizing the skiiers' chances of being in the top of the pack. They lose for the second time, unable to get their balls close to the pink marker.

Cody & Jessica check in 2nd.

Lucas & Brittany get their clue in 6th place from the sandals.

Kristi & Jen vs Trevor & Chris! The skiiers get their heads back together while Trevor & Chris get beginner's worst luck.
Kristi & Jen check in 3RD!

Meanwhile, Lucas & Brittany get the 6th ball while Trevor & Chris vs Joey & Tim are battling off. The eaters move up to 4TH and check in successfully. Henry & Evan get their clue from the Detour.

It's Trevor & Chris vs. Lucas & Brittany and immediately, we are shown the violinists taking 5TH PLACE. (This task is boring me...)

Eric & Daniel and Cedric & Shawn are on each others' "heels".

It's Evan & Henry vs Lucas & Brittany, Team Yale in fear of this new task. And they end up winning, checking in at 6TH PLACE.

The basketballers get their next clue while Eric & Daniel are right behind them in last place, both getting their clues. Eric & Daniel and Cedric & Shawn go to find the Place de Lices.

It's Lucas & Brittany vs Eric & Daniel! The lifeguards keep losing in distress while Eric & Daniel check in 7TH PLACE. The firefighters believe this is a brutal task. Brittany is "over it" with this petanque task and is in tears once again. What an emotional rollercoaster leg for her this leg. Only one chance left against the veteran basketballers.

We return with Lucas & Brittany hugging it out and consoling themselves before their final duel of the day with Cedric & Shawn.

It's Cedric & Shawn vs Lucas & Brittany! Game ON!
Brittany rolls it very close to the pink jack while Phil is back at narrating the Vikings vs. Eagles play by play. Ughh.
Cedric & Shawn have only one shot to take home the win. And Lucas plays the ball to punch the ball to bounce off Shawn's throw and land his super close to the pink jack. Cedric & Shawn are in danger zone.

And LUCAS & BRITTANY WINS! The lifeguards move onto the Pit Stop in 8TH, making Cedric & Shawn stick to last and become eliminated.

"I can't complain. I'm not even supposed to be here. God let me fulfill a dream." - Cedric. The leave the race with high hopes and a good will.

-------------------------------

Alex & Conor depart 1st at night to Les Baux, France and find the next clue at the Chateau Les Baux (a reminiscent of TAR1 where we show Kevin & Drew greeting the official.) Cody calls it the Lesbian Chateau by mistake with Jessica jokingly agreeing with him in 2nd. Kristi & Jen depart 3rd hoping to stick in the pack. Joey & Tim depart 4th with more trust in themselves.

Trevor & Chris depart 5th grumpy, bashful, and makes Chris "Snow White". "Good eats and good treats".
Evan & Henry depart 6th where it is revealed Evan's tooth is fixed from that smash in the previous Roadblock. They stick to their happiness.
 Eric & Daniel depart 7th.
And Lucas & Brittany depart in last with sad elimination music coming on for some reason as they announce their ups and downs in their relationship. This is kind of awkward...

Maybe if the head-to-head is on different parts of the race course, and not always at the pit stop, that would be great. :hug?:

We return with teams facing the ROADBLOCK: "Who wants to go medieval?"
As a site of a bloody battle in the medieval age, one team member must build a trebuchet - never mind, can't beat TAR17 nor 6 - using the given materials. No firing of the catapult? This isn't fun....

And with no surprise, Lucas & Brittany are shown with experience of constructing a pergola for a friend's wedding! Cody wants to start a construction business so he has an edge up. And Kristi is determined to finish this catapult in front of all the guys taking on this task! Trevor & Chris decides to make fun of the other teams motivating their teammates as Trevor does it himself afterward.... Meanwhile, Conor is struggling with the cube hammer. Joey & Tim are also struggling. "I didn't know you invested in the stock market"- Eric. Henry & Evan are shown dealing with this tradeoff.

Lucas is disapproved with his pieces, with the base not lining up correctly. And Cody's is also unapproved with two specific parts.

Lucas makes an incredible comeback as he finishes the catapult!!!! He receives his clue in 1st place, but no catapult firing? Booo.

Make your way to Cafe de la Fontaine and find a capped man where they are offered a glass of red wine to receive their next clue. Cody & jessica get 2nd place following behind the lifeguards. Jen is uncomfortable in the blockade, and Kristi finishes right on time in 3rd before Jen loses it.

Alex & Conor and Trevor & Chris are struggling hard with tight screws and everything in between. Eric & Daniel move on in 4th to the cafe.

Henry & Evan leave 5th from the chateau while Trevor flirts with Chris. Joey describes this blockade as a nightmare.

DETOUR: Full of Bulls or Colorfu
In Full of Bulls, teams must search among replicas of bulls to find a red, white, and blue tag to trade for their next clue. In Colorful, teams must grab a clue from behind a painting of Picasso's replica of the bridge nearby - if they can figure out how.

Trevor & Chris move on from the Roadblock while Joey & Tim and Alex & Conor are far behind from the pack. "Can I get a check?" And Conor is rejected from the judge. Tim is also unapproved with him unknowing what to do.

The boys at the Roadblock are struggling as we return. Joey and Tim reveal their 12 year friendship as more than simply competitive eaters. Tim realizes his mistake and quickly makes up the time! He and Joey move on in 7th place while the Indy drivers are in last. Conor figures out he needed wheel nuts and is quickly approved. They depart from the RB in last place.

Meanwhile, Daniel compliments the Roadblock of the day. Cody & Jessica can't believe the lifeguards beat them getting their clue with two other teams getting their clue after them. Kristi & Jen and Lucas & Brittany are neck-and-neck at the bulls Detour. They are welcomed with a trumpeter as teams run bleachers. Both of them grab a red tag! They separate from the pack and both grab a white tag at nearly the same time. A horse hinneys as Lucas & Brittany struggle to focus on their blue tag.

Trevor & Chris and Alex & Conor get to the Detour in 6th and 7th. Joey & Tim choose Colorful.

Cody & Jessica talk about basing thoughts on conscience rather than logic which Cody struggles with. They have a sweet, slightly uneventful chatter. Henry & Evan comment on their Detour choice - yawns.

We are back with the ribbon hunters as Lucas & Brittany find their blue tag! Kristi & Jen get theirs in a hustle and run back down. Lucas & Britt get their next clue in 1st and reveal a Pit Stop clue.

Teams must travel to the Hotel Benvengudo, the Pit Stop of this leg. Last team to check in MAY BE ELIMINATED! Kristi & Jen quickly trail behind them while Eric & Daniel enter the ring in a battle with themselves for first.

Joey & Tim decide against the bulls believing running will be super tiring. Eric & Daniel quickly get three tags and are up on it in 3rd place!
Trevor & Chris are driving around with Joey & Tim are deciding a Picasso painting puzzle is better than finding small pouches. Alex & Conor and Henry & Evan arrive one after each other in another competition for the pouches! Now this is what I call a head-to-head, lol.

We return: Lucas announces he has something to say. Kristi & Jen freak out for a second. Lucas gives a long winded speech about Brittany while Eric & Daniel interrupt coming in 3rd place.

"Will you marry me?" - Lucas.  :999: :999: :999: Lucas & Brittany are now ENGAGED!

Brittany says this moment was so surreal. She says her dad will be eating his words after watching today's. Henry & Evan arrive 4TH and are taken aback with wonder as Lucas & Brittany show them their ring.

Alex & Conor arrive 5TH PLACE and are shared the news of Lucas & Brittany's engagment. Heartwarming moment, yada yada, now let's get moving with the other teams.

Joey & Tim finally arrive at the bridge and the painter where they believe they are in 1st - not necessarily, just no one decided to show up. They can't open the painting.

Cody & Jessica are 6TH PLACE, unhappy with today's leg. Trevor & Chris run into some traffic and are so pissed. Joey & Tim figure out some moving counterparts and figure out they have a certain combination to follow. Still, they are unable to open as the top of the canvas is also a sliding combo "lock". This is such an interesting puzzle.... can't believe I'm saying this...

Trevor & Chris are distraught in navigation, lost in translation, and are bitter with the roads in France. "Oh my God, are we out of this race?!" - Chris. Double scene: "We're in trouble." - Joey.

And at Pit Stop mat..... Trevor & Chris arrive in 7TH PLACE, and you're still in The Amazing Race!

Joey & Tim are the last team to arrive and unfortunately have been eliminated from the race. A flow of disappointment and speechlessness show on both of their faces. Joey and Tim were honored to do the race and with each other. This is an awkward elimination speech...

Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode!

Honestly, that was a rather simple Roadblock. I was surprised Flight Time was confused with the concept of this task. CHEKHOV is still my favorite.

Really enjoyed the tasks from both legs, still hate that they just made the head-to-head a part of the Pit Stop Route Info, instead of it having an icon of it's own.
Instead of simply travel to Pit Stop, they have to do the challenge there, and also the fact that it seems that whenever they pop-up the leg is also an elimination leg, by default.

This was a great two hours: the tasks weren’t cookie-cutter at all, quite challenging and location/culture appropriate. Sorry to lose both those teams, but it is a really well cast season.

I'll start off with talking about the first half first. The first half was okay, the Roadblock and Speed Bump were boring and took way too much time of the first half. the Detour was the only enjoyable part of this whole episode and was culturally relevant. The "Head-to-Head" was horrible. I do not want to see this task at the pit stop, it makes it unfair because it is the determination of elimination. I honestly don't want to see this task again until it's placed better like at the very first task of the leg. Alright now on to the second half.

The second half was way better than the first half. When i was watching this episode and they announced where they go first. I was like "Hey, they went here in season 1, I wonder if they will make a callback to it." I was later doubting it and I was honestly surprised when they brought it up. The Roadblock was actually better than the one in the first half, because it wasn't boring to watch. I thought the stop at the cafe was pointless and should have been reserved for something famous in that area. The Detour was enjoyable too because it included a very well-known artist and I learned how they bullfight in France.

First 1/2: 3/5
Second 1/2: 5/5

Leg 4

Loved that this leg was self driving. Between multiple teams getting lost to teams not know how to drive stick. I feel bad, but that is what I love to see.

Eric & Daniel's driving woes. :funny:

Doors closing in front of Brittany :funny:

Trevor's obsession with Martha Stewart :funny:

Curious as to why they chose the same name for this Detour as the Yerevan Detour.

Sailing: The Roadblock was so much fun to watch. There was a bit of a learning curve, and teams that figure the technique benefited.
Stacking: Tedious work, not too much to say
Bread: Shaping dough isn't too hard, but the fact that they had to make 50 made this a decent challenge.
Thread: Pretty intricate where even a small mistake could result in failure.
Pétanque: To talk just of the task itself, we didn't get anyone who suffered as much as Henry & Evan last time. No team had an inherent advantage, which made this a pretty fair task.

I've been think over this since 2 legs ago, I don't hate the Head-to-Head at the Pit Stop if there is a task that is fair to all teams. Bringing up the argument that there needs to be another task, more-often-than-not on TARC, any subsequent task after a Face Off has teams arrive and depart in the same order, so it just delays the inevitable. I would like to see some variance if the Head-to-Head returns, but I don't hate it.

4.5/5

Leg 5

Self-driving in the middle of the night (albeit briefly). Still, nice to see back-to-back self-driving.

Season 1 reference   :cheer:

The stockade :funny:

Van Gogh's shade :funny:

Congratulations Lucas & Brittany  :luvya: :conf:

Trebuchet: Some many small details teams could trip up on. The judge gave them nothing when they were wrong. The stockade was random & hilarious.
Bull: Straightforward, no one really seemed to struggle.
Colorful: Phil said it best when he said, "Easy when you know how to do it." The task was fine since it was a puzzle, but it didn't pair well with the Bull Detour.

My main issue with this leg was that while the Roadblock was great, teams settled in their placements after that task. It also doesn't help that we had an unbalanced Detour on an elimination leg.

2.5/5

Love that after 5 legs, 5 different teams have won. Next looks like fun with a Double U-Turn and a Switchback  :cheer:

There's plenty of navigation and some of the tasks seem difficult enough and all of that is helping the season.  The second episode profited greatly from a team taking the puzzle detour, it meant that the teams at the back had no idea who was last and it created more genuine suspense as to who might be eliminated.  The head to head at least had a decent result this time with the team at the back being sent home.

I am watching the double episode now and oh my god.
Phil is so cringy and annoying with his commentary, that I'd rather not have a host at all.

He's so obviously camerawhoring for dat Emmy.

I was legit shocked when they opened the clue after the Detour and it said Pit Stop. Like, that's it? No other tasks this Leg?

The show probably spent a minute or two more minutes than they needed to with Lucas & Brittany's engagement. Though I guess it was unavoidable with teams arriving within minutes and Phil needing to tell them about it. But still.

Interestingly enough, I thought the second episode felt much more full than the first episode even with less tasks. I think it's because half of the first episode was all the Road Block and it got a little tedious after a while, even with teams struggling. I think also partly the fault of the editing which previously could make even the most boring tasks exciting. Lately? The editing almost seems like a detriment to whatever action is happening on-screen.

I'm kinda glad to knock out the two France legs in the same week. It overtook Germany as the #1 most frequent European country with Season 28.

I have conflicting opinions about this season. While the first 3 legs were absolutely phenomenal, these 2 legs were severely lackluster.

LEG 4 :
The highlight of this leg was definitely when Brittany and Lucas were in the middle of a meltdown and then the door shut Brittany out. But nonetheless it was a picturesque leg.
ROADBLOCK : It was by far one of the most hilarious ones I've seen; so much panic and chaos and Cedric capsizing his boat, Evan chipping her tooth and Alex returning to the mainland without going to both the buoys; all in all such a beautiful disaster. I also loved the scenery, so that's a plus point!

DETOUR: The detour was relatively a drag. I actually liked how it pertained to the local culture, and I like how in 30 seasons of AR contestants have never baked baguettes xD , besides both the detours were quite okay-ish.

SPEED BUMP: It was so namesake. I definitely feel that they should step up the quality of speed bumps but then again in this case it was justified granted that Cedric and Shawn were doing it.

HEAD2HEAD: It was fun! I frankly don't know why this receives so much flak. I just really wish Phil could ease his commentary, but nonetheless I look forward to more head-to-head(s) in this and upcoming seasons.

WINNERS AND LOOSERS:
WINNER: Alex and Conor - Even though they just won the titular first place Conor just lucked out in the head-to-head. Nonetheless they won and they're a relatively nice team anyways.

WINNER: Kristi and Jen - Team Xtreme keeps on winning, if not the legs they win our hearts. They show that women, if aren't equal, are actually greater than men. They constantly outdo their performances on each leg and persevere. They're an exemplary team and I hope they move onto the final 3 !!!

WINNER: Tim and Joey - This was the first leg where they came within the top 5! And it was a field day for the duo, so that's that.

LOSER: Henry and Evan - Kudos to them for getting the Head-to-Head on their first attempt, but the roadblock went down absolutely miserable for Evan. Science did win though, as Evan was the only one who applied a scientific approach to completing the task.

LOSER: Cedric and Shawn - Remember when on the 1st leg Phil told that Cedric and Shawn told him to "just sign the cheque"? Well overconfidence is a bitter fruit to swallow kids.

LOSER: Lucas and Brittany - One of the most chaotically beautiful fights this season and honestly they couldn't get a grip of themselves on the head-to-head. Brittany's face when they won the last head-to-head was GOLD.

LOSER: Trevor and Chris - Okay they didn't really lose per se but they moved down their comfortable spot of 4th place to 5th place.

LOSER: Eric and Daniel - I'm quite honestly surprised they survived this leg. The last time a team was stuck because they couldn't drive was in season 26, and that resulted in Bergen and Kurt's elimination, so good for them I guess. It doesn't really help when you can't reverse your car and you're lost, no?

LEG 5:

ROADBLOCK: That's about it. I really loved the concept of the stockade to hold the other team member prisoner, but the trebuchet construction was all there was to the roadblock. There was some medieval duels going on in the background (reminds me of s23 leg 3 roadblock in Portugal!) but it was okay I guess? I can't complain I didn't mind it that much.

DETOUR: By far the most uninteresting detour of the season. It reminded me of season 29's Leg 5 detour and this just showcased a really boring detour with a lot of relevance to the place but a lot less probing into the detour itself. Besides, it was unbalanced and there was literally no other task on this leg, so it had the potential to be better.

WINNERS AND LOSERS:

WINNER: Lucas and Brittany - This leg was constructed for them. Lucas aced the roadblock and they maintained their early lead throughout the course of the leg. They even resolved their issues and fights and what more - THEY GOT ENGAGED! Remember s26e3 when Matt proposed to Ashley! Yeah except that time there were like 8 teams on the mat, when Lucas and Brittany got engaged only 5 teams were there to witness it.

WINNER: Kristi and Jen - The only remaining FF team keeps on winning every leg and are my favorites - they run an honest race, they work hard and exhibit skill in each task. Even though they finished the roadblock 3rd Kristi was the first person to get the trebuchet correct on her first attempt, adding to my point that these women are way better than the men! I really hoped they would get 1st (It was awkwardly cute when Jen broke down on the mat with Brittany unbeknown to the fact that Lucas was going to propose.) but they win hearts anyways.

WINNER: Eric and Daniel - They fared way better than their previous leg and they even secured a spot within the top 3! a construction task was all that Eric needed to grind his gears.

WINNER: Henry and Evan - They didn't really win but Evan got her tooth fixed and she DIDN'T sink a boat in this leg, and all in all they had a smooth run so I guess they win? PLUS: Henry and Evan should get engaged!!!

LOSER: Alex and Conor - Alex didn't exactly have the smoothest run on the roadblock and Conor is bound to remain single even after the race, they also think that speed limits are unnecessary and need to be followed, so...

LOSER: Cody and Jessica - Jessica was tuned out by Cory and she mock strangled him (Fun!). Besides they couldn't keep up and placed 6th out of 8th, so they lose in a way (They weren't there for the engagement also!)

LOSER: Trevor and Chris - Even though they weren't eliminated, it was safe to say that they ended up the biggest failures this leg. They started their day off by saying that they find it annoying when teams encourage each other and by saying that it gets you nowhere; subsequently they performed badly in the roadblock, went severely off track on way to the detour and had a catastrophic leg in total. I wonder who did worse?

LOSER: Tim and Joey - Tim and Joey had a normal leg but all things fell apart on the detour when they couldn't find the exact location and couldn't figure out the working of the puzzle. And that's the story of how they got beat and were sent home. Bye bye team chomp, y'all weren't as funny as I thought y'all would be anyways.

UPCOMING LEG: Prague !!! It's fun because there's a U-turn, Jody finally go back to their dramatic ways, and a switchback to the dreaded s15e11 roadblock that wrecked flight time and big easy.

Two better legs of this Season. Still not sure what to make of the race as a whole.

I'm convinced Tim & Joey did something to piss off production after the race, because apart from their elimination Leg they got absolutely no air time, and were the only team not even shown before the first task in both Leg 3, and 4.

Overall, sad to see NBA, and Eaters go, as they were two of my favourite teams.

Great to see 5 different 1st place teams though!  :cheer:

Umm, why are you convinced that something happened between production and Eaters?
Plenty of teams get underedited if they leave earlier in the race.

I'm more confused why Violinists haven't been getting more airtime, and in my mind I've seen even less of them in these 5 legs.

The St. Tropez leg was beautiful, very picturesque. Great tasks for both the Detour and the Roadblock very cultural. Props to the Roadblock, sailing is no easy thing and the scenery with the turquoise waters, wow and the French Riviera, makes me want to go there soon. France being the most visited European country on the Race in 30 Seasons and finally we get a task involving teams making the iconic French baguette. Excellent as well with the sandals, the company that makes those celebrated its 90 years last year. This leg provided drama with the self-driving element and the Roablock. Bummed at having the NBA Players gone, they aced the Speed Bump, did the Detour fine but failed at the Head to Head. For the Arles Leg 5, great Roablock but I feel that the Race became predictable after Leg 5. Both Detours were very easy and quite imbalanced. Like what ianthebalance has said, Leg 5 needed another task, like an ARI. Everyone in the cast this season. Flawless.

If I was planning Leg 5, I would have done this:
Keep the roadblock the same
Have the painting puzzle be a second roadblock
Then have the bull task but have there be something else to do with the three colors after you find them
Pit Stop

Reminds me of the TAR26 premiere which had the same problem in my opinion: It could have been better by just splitting up the unbalanced detour into two separate tasks that all teams have to do.
You are the last team to arrive.
This is a Philmination leg, so I'm sorry to tell you that you have been Philiminated from the race.

Yeah, it's a shame that such a good task (the Van Gogh detour) was wasted, as only one team chose it.
If it was a RB, I'm sure we'd have seen some placement shifts, snd the leg would have been even more based on mavigation.

Leg 4:

Speedbump: 10/10
(Lenient with this as long as it's not TAR27-style. It's a speedbump, which is designed to take time but not too much time.)
Physical but simple; straightforward but still takes time.

RB: 8.5/10
Sounds easy, looks difficult, from an audience's perspective. Actual? Could be harder. :funny:
Requires sailing skills.

Detour: 8/10
Balanced detour! Both require attention to detail, following a process. Similar and cultural both sides are. The shoe detour needs tools though, while the bread one requires more measurements.

HtH: 6/10
Unlike the frites race, this one was just okay. Players need good aim. Perhaps some knowledge on physics too?

Once in a while, a head-to-head at the pit stop is okay. Since this is the 2nd time it has happened, I'm not as thrilled as I was during the frites race. However, both head-to-heads this season made me see the difference of a physical one and a mental one. For the physical one, the losing team has to keep trying over and over until it wins. If the losing team keeps losing, both members may become more exhausted. However, on a mental head-to-head, the losing team who has played it at least once would have a strategy to beat the next team they're up against. So while a physical head-to-head gives the team who just entered an advantage in terms of the opposing team's exhaustion, a mental head-to-head gives the team who just entered a disadvantage for not having as much as experience as the opposing team.

Another thing that's not good about the head-to-head is that we won't get to see multiple teams racing to the pit stop. We saw multiple teams waiting for their turns on the head-to-head.

Others:

At shoe detour between the twins and NBA:
Twin: "You gotta put your sole into it."
Cedric: "You better hurry up, because we're right at your heels."
:funny: :funny: :funny: :funny: :funny:

Ironically, NBA were eliminated by a ball game. :o

Leg Design: 9/10
Episode: 9/10
Self-driving made a big impact here imho. Tasks were moderate enough for the 4th leg. Speedbump was straightforward but time-consuming. Roadblock shuffled placements effectively. Detour was balanced. Scenery was awesome. As someone who likes watching more teams race all at the same time, this is probably my favorite episode of the season. Perhaps if the head-to-head was not at the pit stop, I'd give this a 10/10.

Leg 5:

RB: 8/10
Building task; attention to detail; physical due to size; historical. Teams who sat out had some minor involvement.

Detour: 5/10
Not sure if both were balanced, since only the eaters attempted the colorful detour, and we don't know if they got lost or if the location is farther. Bull detour required searching and running. Colorful detour required puzzle-solving and experimenting.

Others:
I think Team Chomp should've gone for the bull detour since they were already there.
Phil to Team Chomp: "This must be a tough pill to swallow." :funny: :funny: :funny:
Yay proposal!  :conf:

Leg Design: 3/10
Roadblock was good. Detour was too easy. Leg design itself felt lacking with only 2 tasks and self-driving.

Episode: 6/10
I would've given it a 5/10 for leg design + self-driving, but yay proposal!  :conf: Self-driving did most of the work in shuffling placements after the roadblock. It was an okay leg that I think should've been a NEL due to its difficulty. ???
