In Memoriam of the Lost
« on: August 23, 2017, 01:23:46 PM »
I love the American version of The Amazing Race to pieces and I have since the very beginning in 2001, yet life is so unfair and unpredictable that we are slowly losing pieces of it in that various contestants have been taken from us far too soon

Margaretta Groark of Dave & Margaretta (Season 1).
Nancy Hoyt of Nancy & Emily (Season 1).
Renee Rogers of the Rogers Family (Season Eight)
Lisa Hinds of Lisa & Joni (Season 9).
Bill Alden of Bill & Cathi (Season 19).
Sheila Castle of Rob & Sheila (Season 21).

We must do our best to remember and preserve what history we can simply by continuing to love the past, present, and hopefully very long future of The Amazing Race.

Yes, breaks my heart!

You can also see each of their own threads for more info.

Feel free to provide the links to those if you like.

This is more like a reflection thread for all of them. Can it stay up?

Yes of course. The more happy memories the better!

It's sad whenever we heard of former racers passing.

Have just discovered that Janis Vaisla from the 1st season of The Amazing Race China Rush died January 9, 2016. He was awaiting a heart transplant in Berlin at the time.
He had been involved in Reality TV on many levels.

Much sympathy to his family and friends.

Latvian* yes, he and aleksandra (?) were not really the most memorable team (it has been 8 years don't judge me) but for their run on the 4 legs of the race only to be ended by getting yielded... It was unfair in a way.
It was really iconic that a duo from Latvia made their way onto the race, they truly were representatives who should be proud of themselves. My heart and prayers go out to Janis. Condolences to his friends and family
