TAR Canada 5: Speculation & Discussion of SPOILERS
« on: April 16, 2017, 10:57:54 PM »
This thread is the WORKZONE of our spoilers.

This is where ALL the spoiler discussion of the TARC5 race goes, NOT in the LIVE thread. It is where we try to thrash out what the LIVE sightings mean.

As always, per RFF's practices, we do not spoil the start location (if known) or any teams until it is believed that the teams are safely underway. We would never want to put a team in jeopardy or cause them distress or interfere with the actual running of the race. Info on future legs may also occasionally be protected for those reasons. But if you have info to share beforehand , we would love to know, so please PM or email me! Spoilers are treasured!

This thread will be opened once the race is beginning. NO POSTING UNTIL WE HAVE LIVE SIGHTINGS PLEASE.
RFF's Golden Rule:
Have RESPECT for each other, regardless of opinion. This of course includes no flaming/insulting other users and/or their posts.

Due to 2017 being Canada's 150th Anniversary, expect to see a lot of more historical monuments and patriotism tasks. Just pure speculation that there might be even less international legs.

Yup :res:

I wouldn't assume that at all. Can't be any less than last year imo.  :escape

Please let there be international legs! I know that it's the 150th anniversary, but why dont they go to places CONNECTED to Canada? Thoughts?

Refer to spoilers. Look at the timestamps on the tweets. That's not good news for 4 teams.

OKay...in reference to the possible 4 teams not making the last flight from Toronto:

Have reviewed the team departures from the Start site/ source

Following the Task (coming soon in live) teams left in about 3 gps:

First departures: Team 1 then Team 8
Last group: Teams 3, 4, 6, 7   >>so these have possibility of being the 4 (cannot account for other issues like teams getting lost etc..so take it with a grain of salt!)
Rest were middle of the pack

According to WP's Morse Code translation "ouver capilano"...
There is a Capilano Bridge scenic treetop walkway in North Vancouver.

With cluebox at Gassy Jack statue, task could be at Steamworks Pub, or there is a huge Aboriginal Craft store. Also, they may have taken seabus from North Van if Capilano was first stop.

Sorry i posted it in the wrong threat
I see for sure:

Team 5: Male with big beard
Team 6 : Male with dreads
Team 8 : Girl (same yellow and grey shoes)

Maybe:

Male from team 1 (far, with mustache and blue cap)
Male from team 7 ? (with turquoise shoes between female team 8 and gur team 5)
Male, blond from team 9 (far left)

There is also a pair of green shoes next to male from team #5
And maybe someone behind the girl's hair

So far I have this... I will redo/edit with more info:
I think that is a team member hiding, with green shoes. Gut on right with small backpack looks like sound. Also I don't know abt those 2 guys standing at back...just bystanders???

I think the two in back (plaid shirt) are crew when I compare to other pic.

So from the looks of it, our premiere leg in a nutshell: Morse code task (I imagine this being tough, Morse code ain't easy to read!), huge jump literally fro, coast to coast, Capilano Bridge, highwire walk, dragon boats. Overall that sounds improved over last year's leg 1 IMO

I wonder if starting in a big city could mean early international stint a la Season 3. Van is Canada's air travel gateway to Asia/Australia

That Morse code task looks great on paper. But it definitely opens the possibility of teams just giving away the answer to each other. I hope not!

Who has green shoes?

Not 1,4,10 Pic 1
Not 5,6,7,8,9 Pic 2
Not 2 Pic 3

So 3???

Green shoes is Team 3 - Probably lighting, if you look close pants and leggings underneath is a match
Red Circle- Team 1???

YES!! I think you are right, good job!

I wonder what is the order of the teams, do we know which photo was taken at which time?
Either the 3 teams are last or first
Because we know guy from team #7 is in two pictures, so either team 2 is first to leave or last! (of the seven teams, not counting the 3 others)

 :groan:
And yet again, the race is in my neighbourhood and I am fully unaware. I checked here a few days ago and thought I read it would be May start. Gassy jack is about 4 blocks from us.

Gee, I wonder if we will see any of the pop up injection sites  around gastown and area? A part of Canada I am sure that they will ignore.

They've been off the radar for so long now they've gotta be taking a transpacific flight somewhere.

11:41 for Teams 1, 3, 5,6,7,8,9
12:36 for Team 2 and 7 pic.

So I'm assuming teams 1,4,10 were the first few teams.
4/10 left first
Team 1 left over (guy in blue hat) and spilled into second group.
Teams 1,3, 5,6,8,9 left second
Team 7 left over and spilled into 3rd group.
Teams 7 and 2 left at that point and are in danger of elimination.
