Because total viewers is largely unimportant. The 18-49 demo is what sets commercial ad rates, so that is by far the most important and most frequently reported

Ratings for Live +3 DVR are out... and sadly our first Italy episode did not make the Top 25 after making a new series low. Perhaps we will fare better on Live +7.

Another doubleheader next week. CBS clearly wants this season over with.

May sweeps. It's why all finales are now.

I'm guessing if we actually started in April we would be more rushed than we are now.

Haven't been there in almost a month due to too much focus on other shows, but TAR has been renewed. Check here:

What you really want to know is the live plus 30. That actually is now driving network decisions.

No offense but if it was live+30 then we would be getting news much later.

I stand with live + 3 and + 7 being the most important, if 30 was then why is there little to zero news about live + 30?

The nets use 30; the media doesn't. The nets have research departments that can factor in all the ways eyeballs can see a show with the live plus 30 numbers. Generally those numbers aren't released but maybe twice a year, which is why you don't hear about them. IIRC, Moonves made mention of this several years ago as the flaws in live plus same day and live plus three became apparent. Live plus seven is of primary interest to advertisers not the nets. the nets like live plus 30 because it gathers all viewing platforms including streaming and VOD and those are actual total eyeballs not a sample.

We are just fine.  Doing well in this crazy weird timeslot!

But if they LIKE us there...that means Fall Football becomes an issue. :groan:

Peach, the Thursday Night NFL package is basically 7 games in September/October and one or two near the holidays at the end of the season, usually not on Thursday nights. For a show on Thursday night after those games, seasons start in late October and reach midseason hiatus in December, then return (for 22/23 episodes in February/March, depending on exactly what the NCAA Big Dance schedule is like that opening weekend.

0.9 at 9 pm. 0.7 at 10 pm last night. Maybe this will clue CBS in on 10 pm not being a great home for this family-oriented show.
Ratings source showbuzz daily of course

This is what happens when the idiots at CBS put us up against season finales on every network and give us a cancelled show as our leadin :res:

Well at least it's now safe for at least one more season. Of course this could still affect the budget of said season, though

This is what happens when the idiots at CBS put us up against season finales on every network and give us a cancelled show as our leadin :res:

I stumbled across a list of events happening on other shows during the May sweeps periods (from tvline.com):

Number of characters giving birth: 3
Number of couples having s-e-x, kissing or saying “I Love You” for the first time: 29
Number of new pregnancies: 4
Number of weddings: 8
Number of couples reuniting: 11
Number of fatalities: 44

I'm not sure how TAR competes with all that. First of all, let's rule out fatalities. Aside from being tragic and sad, the liability would be staggering. TAR's done couples kissing, saying "I love you" and couples reuniting. I don't think that would be new and fresh. Maybe a pregnant racer or an engaged team getting married as a speed bump?

Maybe TAR needs something new and way outside the box. Like an 8 PM time slot or something like that.

Even though she did not know it at the time I seem to remember that Claire (of the watermelon fame) was pregnant while filming season 17.

TAR30 has been ordered, but it's still disheartening and sad that a repeat of a cancelled show got more viewers and a higher demo rating than both hours of TAR.

Final numbers for last night:
9pm: 0.9/4, 4.42m viewers
10pm: 0.8/3, 3.86m viewers

Great Indoors repeat: 1.0/4, 5.02m with BBT repeat as a lead-in.

Guys...it does NOT MATTER. Watch the Ratings +7 days :)

They KNOW  our show is NOT a 10PM show. But we did okay there...or at least good enough.

Some interesting tidbits from the CBS upfronts this past week on how they are handling broadcast and digital audiences for advertisers. One tidbit, CBS now views the marketplace has having multiple demo audiences, instead of just the one.

http://deadline.com/2017/05/cbs-introduces-data-help-ad-buyers-span-broadcast-digital-upfront-1202096265/

Quote
Like other broadcasters this week, CBS used its upfront presentation today to take some shots at digital companies competing for ad dollars. But it also repeated a familiar theme: That its status as the No. 1 network sets it apart from its TV rivals.

“Great content is always king,” CEO Les Moonves told the Carnegie Hall audience, adding that CBS programming is “clean, advertiser friendly and the highest quality.”

With new platforms, CBS’ total audience is “greater today than it was back in the year 2000,” he says. And “we’ve moved beyond generic demographics. That old idea of just one, coveted demo is so dated — like American Idol.”

Network Sales President Jo Ann Ross says that CBS is “not just No. 1 with viewers. We’re No. 1 in 250 product categories with consumers. You know: consumers. The people who actually buy your products.”

Still, CBS says it’s embracing advances in data and measurement — one of the hot topics this week. The company introduced a service called CBS Customized Data Solutions to help advertisers target audiences across the company’s networks and digital platforms including CBS All Access.

“We’ll back this up with credible measurements,” she says.

Ross took a jab at NBC and Fox, which said this week that they will offer digital Video Quality Score measurements from Oracle’s MOAT.

They’re “catching up” since CBS “was among the first to partner with [it] years ago,” she says.

She assured buyers that the blend of broadcast and digital would provide them with “real people watching your commercials in hit shows with zero fraud — all from a source you can trust.”

Broadcasters have made hay with the trust issue this week after  sponsors found that digital platforms had connected their ads with content from hate groups, jihadists, suicides and a murder.

“We don’t promise what we can’t deliver,” Ross says. “Truth in advertising: What a concept.”

The company’s pitch “is simple,” she adds: “Seamless, easy buying across all screens for scaling target audiences quickly and the absolute best environment in all of media for your creative.”

For some odd reason, Live + 7 DVR ratings were never released for Week 32 (Italy 1 which was a new series low).

Week 33 (Venice) however, has arrived!

0.9 to a 1.5 and up from 4.08 million to 6.36 million viewers.
