Episode 1 should be hitting the wire shortly....here's hoping it's the first step towards securing a TAR30

0.9 rating in the demo and 4.3 mil viewers, series lows on both counts. Not good by any stretch of the imagination.

Not bad at all, its direct competitors The Catch (ABC) and The Blacklist: Redemption (NBC) having smaller margin ratings.

For what it's worth, The Big Bang Theory hit a series low.

Really down night. What's good is we won the timeslot.

Obviously we wanted more. However there are positives. Winning its time slot was good.

+3 will be interesting to see and all, but it generally doesn't really sway the needle. Generally the rich get richer (biggest gainers are always Walking dead, Empire, Grey's anatomy, etc). Its usually pretty comparable to the same day ratings.

Also keep in mind that the premieres are generally the high points of seasons, and once the buzz dies down, so will ratings. Theres no room left for TAR to drop. Hell, the CBS show Doubt got yanked after 2 episodes with around a .6 or .7.  So we need to stay steady.

It's certainly lower than we were hoping, and I'm not giving up on a rebound, but our best options going forward may be to hope for TAR to be either a summer show or move to CBS All Access.

The show was rushed to air so maybe people haven't found it in it's new slot. Maybe (and this is being hopeful) it can increase in raitings in the weeks to come.

Here's a somewhat hopeful spin from the tvbythenumbers ratings story.

“The Amazing Race” premiered to a 0.9, a little above average for the time period so far this season.”

I'd say that and winning the time slot are good things. Hopefully people recorded it will be be watching in the next few days. I watched it live and recorded it. I'll watch it again just in case that will get counted twice.

It'll be counted twice....if you're a Nielsen home. For anyone who is NOT a Nielsen viewer (probably almost all of us), the best way to help out is to watch on CBS's site, as those streams are absolutely counted.

A 0.9 is not ideal BUT it is very interesting that we basically got TAR28 numbers after A YEAR off the air.

And, despite them usually being whiny annoyances about anything and everything, Facebook casuals seem to love this season so far so *shrugs*

I also noticed that the new promos flash the timeslot in the middle of the screen the whole time, which is good to bring awareness as some might not catch the quick 2-second "Thursday 10 PM" at the end of the original promos.

The most important thing is we won our time slot. The actual #'s are less important. :)

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/thursday-final-ratings-march-30-2017/

I'm not sure this is anything new but this ratings article says it has adjusted ratings for last Thursday night. For the 10 o'clock hour, none of the shows (including TAR) had any adjustments. The weird thing is that this article was date stamped Friday the 31st and the adjusted ratings don't come out for a few days. In fact I looked for adjusted ratings yesterday and didn't see this article. So, I'm wondering if they just rewrote the original ratings article from last Friday without changing the date. Or maybe I was too dense to notice the adjustment info last week.

Anyway, no change to TAR's originally reported ratings.

Preliminary ratings are released around 11 am eastern time, and final ratings released around 4 pm, that isn't really a surprise that final ratings were posted on the 31st. The exceptions are Friday finals, which aren't posted until Monday, and Sunday finals, which don't come until Tuesday. Everything else gets finals posted around 4 pm the next day.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/weekly-ratings/week-28-broadcast-top-25-and-network-rankings-march-27-april-2-2017/

The weekly ratings are in and not surprisingly, TAR didn't make the top 25. However, they may have been somewhat close. 1.1 tied shows for 25th and TAR had a 0.9. In terms of the number of viewers, TAR wasn't close. 4.36 million vs. 6.10 million for 25th. No doubt fewer overall viewers at 10 PM affected that.

I'm checking daily for DVR numbers. Nothing seen yet.

Exactly the same as more recent seasons from 25.

Another 0.9 rating for episode 2. Probably subject to more revision than usual  in the final ratings given the various news preemptions. You almost need to discard a lot of ratings for shows last night. But it's good we didn't dip from the premiere
