TAR 29: London Kaye
« on: March 15, 2017, 06:30:53 AM »
Biography

Age: 27
Hometown: New York
Current occupation: Street Artist

Describe what you do: I am a street artist and entrepreneur living in Brooklyn, N.Y. Everything I create is crocheted and made of yarn. I work with big brands and companies around the world. I have crocheted everything from a school bus in a national Gap commercial to the largest crochet billboard in Times Square!

3 words to describe you: Adventurous, creative and positive.

Favorite hobbies: Crochet and ballet.

What is the accomplishment you are most proud of? I am the most proud of the crochet billboard I created in Time Square for Miller Lite Beer. It was 50 feet by 25 feet and I only had three weeks to get it done!

What scares you most about traveling? What scares me about traveling is getting lost in a city where I do not speak the language.

What excites you most about traveling? I am most excited to travel and completely immerse myself into the world around me.

What qualities do you hope your partner has? I hope my partner is easy to get along with, strong and, most importantly, drives a stick shift.

What qualities will be hard for you to put up with in a partner? I will not be able to put up with any drama. Please no crying.

What do you think will be the biggest challenge you and your teammate face? I think the biggest challenge we will face is learning how to work together on the fly.

What country and place would you most like to visit and why? I would like to visit Cuba. I love all of the bright colors and art!

What do you hope to accomplish by running The Race (other than winning one million bucks)? I hope to accomplish a greater understanding of people around the world. I am excited to learn from everyone I meet and get to know what everyday life is like thousands of miles away from home.

Meet London Kaye From The Amazing Race Season 29

Watch artist and LA native London Kaye talk about her amazing career, competing with a stranger, and what she hopes might come out of the experience.

London has a recap of Episode 1 posted on YouTube.  She seems really different off the Race...

On the Race she's really bubbly and happy (not a bad thing!) and in the video she's really laidback and chill (again, not a bad thing).  Just interesting to see how portrays herself differently on the show.

No kidding, if her partner didn't tower over everyone else, you'd forget there's a team named London & Logan with this edit :(

I must say, she has the nicest eyes.

Lolo are probably the blandest final 5 team ever
I don't remember much of them except London remain positive all the way on the race (and bottom-goddness all the way)

Their team would put fish to sleep, not to mention they are always getting through by the skin of their teeth. Team LoLo staying way low, literally.

She and Logan have been staying slow and steady. Unlucky at least once a leg, but lucky enough to survive each and every leg so far. :hoot: They can snag a win if luck is on their side on the final leg. :conf:

From what I've read about her crochet work, not everyone sees it as "art", but basically vandalism - a bit of a troublemaker IRL  }:>

London did an AMA on Reddit today.

Two notable things about the season:
-Everyone was sequestered as INDIVIDUALS at the Pit Stop. No team strategizing once they were in their rooms.

Quote
There is plenty of airport drama...and travel agent drama. I was so surprised it did not make it into the show!

Amazing season but VERY missed opportunity :groan:

Makes sense being a "strangers" season. Prevents them from getting to know each other while off camera.

Whyyyyy :groan:

I could understand the Panama > Brazil drama being cut as we still had 10 teams racing and the Shamir meltdown was upcoming, so lots to cover, but why not include it later on? :( Earlier TAR seasons somehow managed to edit everything into the same-length episodes.

Airport drama editted out
- Brazil flight fiasco (leg 2)
- Ashton's first class upgrade (leg 5)
- Brooke & Scoot's alternate flight (leg 9)

Other than that, we have everyone travel on the same flight for the whole season?
I don't get it why London said there are tons of airport dramas...

Whether or not to have their own room vs share was apparently an option. Up to the racers to choose...and no one chose share.

Sharing a room with a stranger is definitely not a choice for female racer

It would have been an even more amazing season if they plugged it in. I was missing these types of scenes.

All of the above would have made the race a whole lot more interesting. Having said that, even without the airport drama, it was still a very solid season.
