TAR Canada 5 Pre-Race News and Speculation
« on: August 06, 2016, 03:37:08 AM »

So for season 5 (If it's confirmed...?), many of you might be wondering, "It's Canada, they've been everywhere by now!" WRONG! Tar Canada has just barely scratched the surface of this beautiful country! Here are some places that could be up for a first time visit in season 5:

British Columbia
- Abbotsford
- Surrey
- Most of Vancouver Island (of course they have already been there, but the legs were pretty isolated to just Victoria and Tofino)
- A WHOLE LEG IN HAIDA GWAII PLEASE
- Prince George
- Terrace
- Cranbrook and the Kootneys
- Kamloops
- Castlegar
- Yoho National Park (BC has the Rockies too!)
- Revelstoke
- Kitimat
- Bella Bella & Bella Coola
- Fort Nelson

Alberta
- Medicine Hat
- Lethbridge
- Banff
- Canmore
- Waterton Lakes
- Lloydminster

Saskatchewan
- Lloydminster (this town straddles the border between AB & SK! The Mat should total be placed right on the border)
- Uranium City
- Fond-du-Lac
- Athabasca Sand Dunes
- Assiniboia & Coronach (Canadian Badlands that are pretty bad ass)

Manitoba
- Brandon
- Churchill
- The Pas
- Flin Flon (c'mon, I mean these would be awesome just because of the names)
- Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba, & Lake Winnipegosis
- The International Peace Garden (on the border between the US & Canada - you can freely walk between the countries!)

Ontario
- Windsor
- Sarnia
- London
- Chatham
- Leamington & the Pelee Islands (southernmost point in Canada)
- London
- Kitchener
- Cambridge
- Guelph
- Peterborough
- Prince Edward
- Belleville
- Brockville
- Gananoque
- Huntsville
- Kawartha Lakes
- Orillia & Barrie
- North Bay
- Tobermory, Fathom Five, & Bruce Peninsula
- Owen Sound
- Parry Sound
- Manitoulin Island
- Sault Ste. Marie
- Thunder Bay
- Wawa
- Timmins
- Kenora

Quebec
- Mont Tremblant
- Sherbrooke
- Trois-Rivieres
- Saguenay & Bagotville
- Manicouagan Crater (this one you'll have to look up)
- Gaspe
- Perce
- Mont Joli
- Baie Comeau
- Sept-Iles
- Anticosti Island

New Brunswick
- Fredericton (of Canada's 13 provinces & territories, this is the only capitol of one not yet visited!)
- Bathurst
- Caraquet
- Shippagan
- Miramichi
- Charlo
- Campbellton
- Edmundston

Nova Scotia
- Amherst
- Yarmouth
- Colonial Port-Royal
- Wolfville
- Port Hawkesbury
- Bras d'Or Lake
- CAPE BRETON HIGHLAND GAMES

Prince Edward Island
- Basically anywhere. The entire province is so small but Season 2 leg 10 left out so much! Souris or any of the extreme ends of the island, an actual task involving Anne of Green Gables, plus a task involving the Confederation Bridge would be awesome!

Newfoundland and Labrador
- Bonavista
- Gander
- Stephenville
- Deer Lake
- Gros Morne
- L'Anse aux Meadows
- ANYWHERE IN LABRADOR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
- Plus a visit to St. Pierre & Miquelon would be cool!

Yukon
- Mount Logan, tallest mountain in Canada!
- Dawson (Gold Rush!)
- Old Crow
- Ivvavik National Park (a pit stop on the beaches of the Arctic Ocean would be memorable!)

Northwest Territories
- Anywhere
- I really mean anywhere. Not even a pit stop for crying out loud
- Hay River
- Nahanni National Park (with a waterfall taller than Niagara! It's a UNESCO world heritage site!)
- Inuvik
- Tuktoyaktuk
- Deline (a visit to Great Bear Lake - the largest lake completely within Canada)
- Norman Wells

Nunavut
- Honestly a visit to Iqaluit would be good again. They're avoiding it like it's the dickens!
- Cambridge Bay
- Cape Dorset
- Belcher Islands
- Repulse Bay
- Rankin Inlet
- Pangnirtung
- Qikiqtarjuaq
- Auyuittuq National Park (come on. A visit to MOUNT THOR! TALLEST CLIFF IN THE WORLD!!!!)

Basically season 5 could stay entirely in Canada and not run out of places to go! Keep on truckin!  :yess:

CTV announced today (October 12) that it is renewing the competition series for a fifth season. And what's more, casting for the forthcoming season is now open.

It'll coincide with the country's 150th anniversary so the show promises to ramp up highlights of our country more than ever.

*sighs*

This season sucks already.

You know what? I liked some of the Canadian legs better than the International ones.

TARC is the only franchise capable of making a one-country race and still keep it entertaining.
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

I literally had a dream of this last night.

I was thinking dreaming :funny: what is a great way to do a season on the 150th Canada Anniversary?

I was thinking they would want to include 13 teams from all over Canada to showcase the great people of the country and, because of the large capacity of teams, they do a 13 leg race that can feature more Canada or international or mix of both.

Then, I could see them have a public start line in front of the Parliament Building ( it was in the season 2 finale) or something of like that to kick off the race featuring Canada's milestone.

It's all spec but they would want to do something grand for something as big as Canada's 150th right? (I mean sponsors play a part in it too...)

I was thinking of this:

Why don't they have one team from each state or territory of Canada (13 teams, just like fossil's idea) and have a RACE AROUND THE WORLD!

INTERNATIONAL EVERY LEG! (INCLUING 2 LEGS IN THE USA)

What do we think?

I know. Canada consists of 10 provinces and 3 territories. Because of large area, the population is sparse depending on land geographical mass (e.g., tundra).

I don't mind if they stay in Canada but I hope they do leave country at least once. I'm hoping they go to Europe. My picks would be the Uk, Italy, Spain, Norway or the Czech Republic .

If they do stay in Canada, THEY MUST visit cities that haven't been featured in TARC

They also MUST have 2 legs in the USA! They also need to visit Africa, Europe and Oceania

Try to find out a Canadian connection to each of those!

Well Leafsfan, the UK did colonize Canada, so that could be a possibilty  :)

I think Leafs, who is:

A. Canadian
B. a major in Geography

knows this already. :)

And what on earth is the correlation with colonization and two legs?

We have a premiere date on April 21 for TAR US season 29 with 10 ( ? ) episodes, which takes us to a finale around June 30. This is around the traditional premiere date for TAR Canada.
And the day before Canada Day with the 150th birthday celebrations.  :conf:
I'd love for the TAR 29 finale to be the lead-in for the TAR Canada 5 premiere.  :spy:

Bourkie, we welcomed new members on their first post, not a TAR Detective/Board Moderator who's been member of the Forum for the last eight years - even if he or she has been away from some time -   ;).

We've so patience for this, Alen. Bourkie did not know WP is a "new member" in the board. Even though WP is actually a RFF member for eight years that Bourkie failed to make a significance with active members as "newbies" by mistake.

No need to apologize - I wasn't offended. It did highlight to me that perhaps I haven't been spending enough time here...
