Yeah but that ended on a TBC and as an episode on it's own (which is hoe the Emmys are judged), it feels incomplete.

Awful choice.

If they were gonna pick a leg it should have been Georgia on 28.

I think this is part of the Emmy campaign for the Amazing Race so I'm posting it here. Elise and Bertram talk The Amazing Race and mention the Emmys briefly. They talk about the origins of the show, the challenges of filming it and then talk about the leg in Chamonix.

I've actually just found the official Emmy FYC (For Your Consideration) page for TAR:
http://www.cbs.com/shows/the-amazing-race-fyc/

And it features that clip with Bertram and Elise plus clips from the following episodes:

27.05 - "King of the Jungle" (Zimbabwe 2)
27.10 - "Bring the Fun, Baby!" (India 2)
27.11 - "It's Not Easy Beating Green" (HK/Macau)

28.01 - "I Should've Been a Boy Scout" (Mexico)
28.05 - "We’re Only Doing Freaky Stuff Today" (Chamonix)
28.07 - "Welcome to Bloody Fingers 101" (Georgia)
28.08 - "I Have a Wedgie and a Half" (Dubai)

Like last year, it seems TAR either highlights several episodes to Emmy voters or presents several episodes to them, if not make the entire season available.  But only one episode will get nominated and represent the show if it is nominated.

Of these episodes...
Meh at the Zimbabwe and Chamonix travel porn eps
None of the TAR28 episodes were especially amazing, though the Georgia Leg was the season's best episode.
I understand what makes 27.11 a possible Emmy episode.  But I think either India Leg from TAR27 would be great, if not better choices.  Indian Legs have won TAR 3 Emmys already.  (Good luck charm?) And those 2 episodes felt most like classic TAR.

28.07 - "Welcome to Bloody Fingers 101" (Georgia)
28.08 - "I Have a Wedgie and a Half" (Dubai)

Of these legs:

India 2 on 27 would kind of make sense... but the only thing that saved that episode was Logan & Chris's blowout, Tiffany & Krista's unfortunate Indian adventure, and Denise & James-Earl. Other than that it was linear, unexciting, and meh.

Zimbabwe 2 was alright but again, it was linear and pretty unexciting.

HK had good suspense and episode (ignoring the Tiffany/Krista boot and Justin), but not quite the best.

I actually believe the TAR28 Premiere is Emmy-worthy, if only the awful virtual Starting Line and first ten minutes of the show were removed. Other than that, it was full, exciting, and one of the best premieres in a long time.

Chamonix NO. Just NO. It was easily the worst leg of the season and one of the worst legs EVER. Nothing but boring and unexciting linear tasks and little to no competition.

Georgia was great! Should have been chosen.

Dubai had meh leg design but Dana/Matt's blowout made it great.

Overall, I really hope for the show's sake that no matter what episode we choose, we get the Emmy. Emmy prestige can keep us going for a little bit more. #Praying

We should definitely win an Emmy for TAR27 Leg 11 though because if it IS chosen then it's probably gonna be the episode I best remember for its East Coast live thread. ;D

Pick Chamonix. That episode was awesome  :hearts:

I liked it too. True it was pretty linear aside from the luck with the wind in the parasailing, the mountain scenery was gorgeous. On the video I posted, it was clear it held a special place in Elise and Bertram's thoughts.

And the Emmy don't care if it's linear (heck a lot of "casuals" didnt care either. also, it's one of my parents all time faves). It had exciting tasks, scenery, funny moments, suspense, especially the suspense at the roadblock

The HK episode is a good choice, it contains such amazing and wxciting elements such as :

1) Justin blow up
2) Language barrier (Kwai Lin street)
3) one racer struggling at the roadblock while her partner always encouraging and give inspriational speech
4) Peanality
5) Great suppessio on the fourth placer

I give high hopes on my homecity as well as Tiffany & Krista :trampb:

I know, right?

The Morocco episode was waaaaay better than some of the other modern-day TAR submissions that DID win an Emmy. Here's hoping Macau wins us the one that episode deserved!

The chosen one was a decent episode. It was great actually, especially in terms of drama. However, I would've preferred the Georgian episode. That one was almost a full package, if not a full one.

TAR28-1 was a great episode too, though it was crammed.
TAR28-5 was a great with scenery, but it wasn't great design-wise.
TAR28-8 was saved mostly with the TAR15 homage, and self-driving drama.
TAR27-5 was a great episode with the last 4 teams, but the parts with 1st 4 teams were just eh.
TAR27-10 was… I like how there's like a party/wedding theme throughout the leg, but it was boring and linear in a sense. This one is my least favorite among the 7 considerations listed above.

So the Emmy ballots are up and voting for nominations begins today.  In addition to Reality-Competition Program and Host, TAR has submitted itself to these categories:

Outstanding Directing For A Nonfiction Program
Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program
Outstanding Picture Editing For A Structured Or Competition Reality Program
Outstanding Sound Editing For A Nonfiction Program (Single Or Multi-Camera)
Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Nonfiction Program (Single or Multi-Camera)

TAR was nominated for all 5 of these Creative Arts Emmys in 2014, but was only nominated for Cinematography and Picture Editing last year.  TAR has not won any Creative Arts Emmys since 2007 (TAR10.04 was the submitted episode)

BUT! The ballots also reveal the ONE episode that will eventually be sent to voters if TAR is nominated for the series Emmy and the one episode that will be considered for the above Creative Arts categories:

Quote
We're Only Doing Freaky Stuff Today
March 11, 2016
In the shadow of The Alps' majestic Mont Blanc, teams test their physical and emotional limits at sub-zero
temperatures. In this ultimate mountaineering race, teams must conquer an 11,000-foot high traverse, face a
terrifying trek across a vertical peak and soar above Chamonix, France in an exhilarating paraglide

I'll say the episode is definitely a good ep for the Cinematography category.
But I feel like it's basically TAR16's WWI episode which lost in all categories.

If you are just watching an Emmy submission, you are going to see majestic scenery, a close competition,  extraordinary physical challenge, a hold your breath for the wind moment, and a close finish.

They will love it.

TAR28-5 was a great with scenery, but it wasn't great design-wise.

I didn't like the detour tasks, but it was still a great episode. I didn't like Burnie & Ashley fighting for elimination that time, but had they not gone for the worse detour, the episode would've been much more boring.

I think the episode could've been better some way or another, but the resulted episode was great and decent enough.

While the episode is really terrible for super fans who realize the tasks were super linear and poorly designed with really easy tasks, I do remember liking the episode just because of how gorgeous the views were and how fun it would be to actually do the leg. I think it will be good for the Emmy's who care more about that stuff than doing phenomenal tasks. It will be fine.

Oh that leg! This whole time I was thinking of the Switzerland leg. Ok, I have a little more faith now than when I thought it was that one.

Cinematography I can really see them winning, maybe best reality show too, but the others? I don't think so. Hopefully they don't win editing or sound, because that is straight up awful and positive reinforcement will just continue it.

This
That

It was a horrible leg for us fans (mostly design-wise), but it's definitely a top-tier episode for an Emmy.

I'm generalizing of course. While there may be some superfans who liked it, I think many did not.

I think many people here did not like that episode, mainly because editing and what I said before. I find many fans on this site like to see challenging tasks that really shake up placement order not ones that have no impact on them.

The HK/Macau episode is a much better choice.

Another reason the Chamonix ep is a bad choice is if it does win an Emmy, Bertram and Co. will be encouraged to do more of the same types of Legs: Beautiful scenery, horrible Leg design.

Another reason the Chamonix ep is a bad choice is if it does win an Emmy, Bertram and Co. will be encouraged to do more of the same types of Legs: Beautiful scenery, horrible Leg design.

I don't think Hong Kong would be that good of a choice due to the boring detour

They will be encouraged to do more beautiful sceneries for sure, but I don't think they were looking at the leg design to have it nominated.

I actually thought Charmonix was an excellent choice. Besides the fact that the pit-stop was reduced to bunching, but to be honest part of the race is all about luck. If the girls did not miss that train, maybe it would have been Blair and Scott eliminated or what..? But one thing you can't deny for sure is that a nine-way foot-race would have been epic. Of course it would have been better if there's a task before pit-stop or what, but you can't ask for everything?

I loved the views, the tasks, the competitiveness between the teams, rivalry and everything about that episode. Unless the Emmy judges are super fans and have issue with the bunching before the pit-stop, I'm so darn glad that this was chosen over Hong Kong. Any mentioned of TAR 27 should be banned, so it's even better if they don't even get recognized for having a good episode good enough for Emmy submission lol.

Yeah, the leg you're talking about here was pretty good apart from the bunching before pit stop. But it was the leg in Geneva, Switzerland and not Chamonix. :(
