And we have begun! Time to put on my game hat. :spell

Previously on TAR!...
Six teams raced from Dubai to the island of Bali in Indonesia!
Tyler & Korey made new friends.
At a grueling Roadblock, Rachel struggled to keep up.
And a second Roadblock left Brodie & Kurt in dangerous territory.
Tyler & Korey wok the leg, while Brodie & Kirt narrowly edged out Zach & Rachel.

5 team's remain, who will be eliminated next?

And back from commercial break, we see team's talk about their restful night on an Indonesian sailboat.

Route info: Teams must travel to Nusa Lembongan and search underwater for their next clue via scuba diving. Caution U-Turn ahead!!!

Tyler & Korey and Burnie & Ashley leave Pit Start and talk about U-Turn.

Sheri & Cole loving 3rd place. "And by second, we mean first."

Dana & Matt and Brodie & Kurt are worried about being targets for U-Turn decisions.

Tole & Korey mustvsearch for clue box underneath marked buoy. They explore beautiful, blue sea and what must be corals. They get their clue rather quickly.

Route info: Teams must make their wait Pura Puhseng Stairway and get their ext cle from a dancing monkey.

Burnie & Ashley and Sheri & Cole doing scuba diving.

Sheri: "I think I looked at more fish than I did for the clue box."

Dana & Matt and Brodie & Kurt start scuba while Sheri & Cole heading back, going to stairway.

Brodie & Kurt manage to catch up to 4th place and Dana & Matt fall behind.

Dana yells at Matt again for reminding him about her getting the clue.

Leading team's already on shore and running to the stairway.

Dana & Matt worrying that if Brodie & Kurt het to the U-Turn board before them, they would be U-Turned.

A return from the first ten-minutes commercial run!

Dana & Matt open a cylinder and read their clue to the Pura stairs.

Back on land, Sheri & Cole and Brodie & Kurt taking a jeep to the stairs.

Tyler & Korey get a special greeting by wearing sarongs and meet the dancing monkey.

DETOUR: Haul or Harvest
In Harvest, team's must propel themselves along a marked course on a seaweed cultivation farm and harvest enough seaweed to fill a tarp to receive their next clue . In Haul, team's must deliver 50 coconuts and 4 chickens across a suspension bridge to a vendor for their nex t clue. (TAR27 India balloon RB?" :res:)

Tyler & Korey and Burnie & Ashley both do Haul. Tyler and Burnie carries coconuts while Korey and Ashley carry chickens on the first trip.

Sheri & Cole and Brodie & Kurt reach the monkey and the mother:son decide to go for Haul. The frisbee enthusiasts also decide to go to Haul.

Tyler & Korey meet school children while delivering goods. Burnie & Ashley right behind them. 4 coconuts and 2 chickens delivered each.

Dana & Matt meet dancing monkey and decide to do Haul.

Sheri tells chickens it's all okay before picking them up. What an animal whispering aura! Zev would be proud.

Sheri & Cole deliver more coconuts than chicken and Brodie & Kurt Ddelivers all chickens first.

Dana; "I only know how to hold a chicken when it's cooked."

Dana & Matt start the coco-chicken Detour. She talks to chicken like a newborn baby.

Bridge wobbling moments including dropped coconuts and jumps.

Dana: "Only the mean chickens are left." More negativity and chicken toddler talk from her. Plus a bonus shut up to Matt.

Tyler & Korey finish the Detour! Route info: MAKE YOUR WAY TO WARUNG SUNRISE WHERE THE DOUBLE U-TURN IS LOCATED!

They decide to U-Turn Brodie & Kurt! :hoot:

Teams must make their way to the paddleboard shop on the beach for their next clue.

Burnie & Ashley heading to the Wahrung Sunrise.

Korey thinks about repercussions and regrets U-Turning the frisbee boys while Tyler ensures they made the right choice.

Comm. break!

Back from comm. break!

Tyler & Korey and Burnie & Ashley indirectly use Twinnies' U-Turn plot from TAR21 to keep other team's from using the U-Turn.

Brodie & Kirt now in 3rd and Sheri & Cole shocked about them finishing ahead of them. "It's cause they have longer arms!"

Tyler & Kprey get to ROADBLOCK: Who's feeling blue?
One team member had to jump off a four-story rock formation and land in the lagoon below to receive their next cle.

The frisbee guys have to return to Detour and do the seaweed harvest option.

Sheri & Cole and Dana & Matt struggling with coconuts.

Brodie almost slips at the seaweed farm. They are starting to row their gondola along the course. They talk about doing tasks as quickly as possible.

Sheri & Cole finish and Sheri wishes the task was transport 50 chickens. They are also confused at the U-Turn decision.

Brodie & Kurt had to carry the seaweed in shoulder baskets and line the
 up on tarp.

Dana & Matt finish the task while Brodie & Kurt still trying to complete the cultivation Detour task.

Dana & Matt are happy about being saved by the U-Turn.

Cole decides to do the Roadblock and instantly has a panic attack being afraid of heights.

Sheri: "I'm so sorry!" :funny:

Back from commercials!

Sheri said she decided beforehand that height tasks would be her central focus.

Cole is shaking like a scared dog about jumping from somewhere high.

Tyler is heading to the cliff by motorized paddleboard and climbing the ladder.

Ashley right behind the best friends.

Tyler is prepped for jumping from some aerobic stretches by an instructor which attracts his attention.

Brodie & Kurt finish the Detour and Kurt rubs green gel? all over his face. Talks about the U-Turn being a poor choice by Tyler & Korey.

Tyler jumps! He says landing was a lot more rough than he expected.

ROUTE INFO: Make your way to the Pit Stop: Bajra Sandhi Monument! Last team to arrive may e eliminated.

Tyler talks about hot instructor and says how good he stretched him out.

Ashley awaits and jumps! Heading to Pit Stop.

Chamonix montage plays while Sheri & Cole discusses about the height Cole has to jump.

Dana & Matt right behind mother:son.

Welp that was a terrible episode. Only good thing was Twinnie U-Turn strategy switchback.

Both Detours being delivery?  :groan:

Linear Roadblock?  :groan:

If only Dana & Matt didn't mess up the ARI they would have been stuck in the same positions the whole way lol.

another solid leg <333

the task all are decent and the w-turn drama ( Burnie and Ashley indirectly using Twinnies U-Turn Strategy is  :funny: <33 ) is great, although i dislike how team bitching, worries for getting W-turned  :groan:

the -snorkeling to find the next clue- is great, and make some teams distracted enough to get the next clue (Matt/Dana are the victims )

Monkey dance is entertaining <3

i really like the detour which one is physical challenges task and other side  is technically simple but  time wasting detour and decision to place detour before RB is a smart choice ( although it's proved that whether  the detour point is placed before/after Rb, it's really hard to catch up when you get u-turned)

RB is fascinating with blue clear lagoon and picturesque location... and an appreciation to Cole for conquering his worst fear  :hoot:

and the editing is slightly better than previous leg, with some tenses editing especially on last 10 minutes to the pit stop...

Burnie and Ashley is (again) robbed :(  and Brodie and Kurt :( great fight for them and i wish they return for AS

overall, i enjoy this leg (not too enjoyed b'cause my internet really slow :res: ), and i'm expecting magnificent penultimate leg next week :)

What I appreciated most  (and this coming from someone who HATES Uturns) was that these players understood the UTurn and how it works.

If anyone had any doubts that these players might not "know" TAR...this leg proved them wrong!! Good strategy all around, but oh so sad for Brodie and Kurt.  :'(

No, if the Roadblock was not that linear. They only waited for Cole to be Mika 2.0.  :groan:

Well, Sheri didn't understand what Burnie & Ashley did, did she?

Maybe not. or maybe she did, they have played a good game.

The others understood 100%. Burnie and Ashley could have chosen any remaining team, and didn't, ensuring who went home.

Maybe she was just confused with why Burnie & Ashley chose to u-turn a team already in front of them
That is not supposed to be the "normal" u-turn mechanism

i really like the detour which one is physical challenges task and other side  is technically simple but  time wasting detour and decision to place detour before RB is a smart choice ( although it's proved that whether  the detour point is placed before/after Rb, it's really hard to catch up when you get u-turned)

No, if the Roadblock was not that linear. They only waited for Cole to be Mika 2.0.  :groan:

hmmm what i think, it'snt impossible to catch up when you got u-turned (see Logan/Chris on TAR 27, but because the leg was too linear), but indeed it is really hard and need extra work to speed up from losing times after doing both detour
and even the RB wasn't that linear, still... (but, i agree because the RB is a high linear task)

The Twinnie U-Turn strategy returns!

It was smart. Brodie & Kurt powerhoused the race (final average 2.60) up until Indonesia and had to go. Not a favourite team of mine, personally.

The U-TURN is never not strategic when it's meant to:

1. Eliminate a strong team who's finally for once behind you
2. Eliminate a weak team who's weaker than you to keep you alive

The only time when a U-TURN is used lamely is when you use it on a team you hate without strategy aka Joe and Heidi by Louie and Michael.

Sheri didn't understand the U-TURN strategy deployed by the first two teams, but it doesn't mean that she's not a race lover? I'm pretty sure that as long as a team understands how a U-TURN should be deployed, that's enough?

I feel that this season is set for Tyler and Korey to not lose now. Sheri and Cole looks like a typical 3rd/4th place team, Dana and Matt a 3rd place team and Burnie and Ashley a 2nd place team. I can only see Tyler and Korey winning lol.

And to be honest, Brodie blew his chances to win when he burned that EP on Leg 8 just to win a leg. Like seriously, had they used it on Leg 9, they wouldn't even be that far behind this leg and would have made the Final 4 this season.

Their demise is similar to Tanner and Josh's poor use of EP last season and resulted in their own elimination because they chose to take the momentarily pleasure of finishing a task that is seemingly easy.

Not only that, I think the Express Pass actually brings more good than bad unless it's handed to you. You win an Express Pass, people see you as a threat, people are wary, people U-TURN you, and you die. LOL

At long last, one of the most annoying teams go home. Technically the annoying one is only Brodie. Brodie, you keep on talking so much but your partner Kurt, who's a cancer survivor did more roadblocks, the physically challenging ones and slayed the race more than you did. 2 thumbs up for Kurt for being an inspiration for cancer-survivors out there.

TBH I think that this leg is a disappointment, especially in terms of the tasks. I really don't like this leg linearity where the only place you can see teams positions changing is on the Detour. I absolutely hate the Roadblock and I think that this Roadblock is one of the worst task in Indonesia, other than the Padang restaurant Roadblock back in Surabaya (TAR 21 Leg 3). The only thing that saved this leg from being the worst leg in Indonesia was when they had to snorkel to find their clue, which I found really creative and I love the view underwater. <3

But still, I think that this is the second worst leg in Indonesia behind the Surabaya leg back in TAR 21 Leg 2.

i'm disappointed as well. i predicted this leg would be linear and i was right. I'm glad they left Bali island and went to Lembongan & Ceningan. The detour was okay but the roadblock was "easy". Other teams couldn't catch up, especially when a team got u-turned  :groan: :groan:  I feel bad for Brodie and Kurt

For some reason I really didn't like Phil saying, "The last team to arrive may FACE ELIMINATION".  :gaah:  Why change it now?  :groan:

The linear RB was  (:;), but on a positive note, had it been a physical challange Brodie & Kurt probabaly would've survived, so I can't really complain.

Burnie & Ashley or Sherri & Cole to win now.  Hopefully Tyler & Korey are eliminated next, but I can't see it. ???

This episode is good. I like it, but I can easily say that it's not the best because of its linearity all the way.

I'll keep it short, because I don't feel like enumerating.

I like the first task - creative, unique.

Indirect Twinnie U-turn Strategy (can we call this TUS next time? ) - awesome!

Detour - good enough, balanced, linear, a bit dull

Roadblock - nice, linear, meh

Tyler & Korey's edit - covering up (or not emphasizing, unlike Dana & Matt's) villainous edit.

Burnie & Ashley and 2nd place -  :tantrum (:;)

Suspense - poor.

Leg design - lame. Perhaps adding an extra ARI task would make this leg slightly better at least?

Editing: Emphasizing Cole's fear of heights is unnecessary. Having it mentioned once is enough. Those extra comments probably ate up some possibly good moments that were not shown.

Overall a good but weak episode.

I think the Detours were nicely balanced in distance and physicality needed. I might avoid animals...we have seen the racers have awful times with chickens before!

The Roadblock was super scenic. Aussie celeb was unnecessary and seemed to be the afterthought it was.  :groan:
The real problem was the complete RB linearity. Zero way to catch up unless someone balked at jumping.   (:;)

There may well have been a real chance in the actual getting to the MAT though.

To be honest I don't quite like this leg design, the tasks are too linear especially the roadblock, that's no way to change position on that one unless you got a racer like Mika, should make it as ARI instead.

The seaweed detour choice is okay, but deliver chicken and coconuts seem not interesting to watch at all, and the several back and forth trips to deliver the 50 coconuts sound like just making even the time it may spend on the other detour but with no interesting value in it.

U-turn decision is smart, I predicted Burnie would do that and he did! It's even better than Twinnies one because this time they didn't have a plan together but then just act in response to the given situation. Very smart.

I agree with Jobby that Brodie/Kurt elimination is kind of like a karma for burning EP in Dubai. If they could let Burnie/Ashley take first place that leg and kept the EP, I would say they must have HUGE lead this leg and probably got 1st. It's because if they used the EP in last leg RB it would definitely save them a lot of time since either RB last leg took so long (look like 30 min more for either salt or kite task), maybe they felt regret after this leg then.

To be honest, I hate linear legs but tbh, I think every season should have one linear leg. If every leg has a bunching point, then a team wouldn't know or expect how important it is to do well EVERY LEG. You never know the next might be a linear one and will put your team in danger.

That being said, I actually thought that the Roadblock is fine, but if it involved some sort of a task at the top, like looking at a complete puzzle, then jumping off, then immediately getting back in shape to solve the puzzle... it might make the task more exciting. But again, I think the fact that the pit-stop is far away is good enough for me. How many times have we seen that a team finishes a task and run to the pit-stop 500m away? Or searching the grounds of the task location. By travelling to another place, it allows a team to fall behind/catch up.. In the case of B/A where they caught up well enough to just be directly behind T/K.. and S/C to fall behind the dancers.

Think we should give and take every now and then..

Totally agree. They would have had to use it in Leg 9, but that would have given them a nice lead with no bunching.  Bad decision when they were not at any risk in that leg.

I understand your point and kind of agree, but by linear leg I don't only mean no bunching point but also very simple task (like the RB), not complicated and people need to line up to perform, and the worst thing is that it happened on a leg with U Turn. I also want Kurt/Brodie to go but not expect under this leg design.

So the pitstop is quite far from the beach? I haven't been to Bali and got no idea, the editing makes it seem like the finish order depends on whether you can find a taxi first, I think would be nicer if they make a little trick like a photo clue to find the pitstop or Phil hiding somewhere not easy to spot there.

Not far, around 15 minutes by taxi. Bajra Sandhi is landmark of Denpasar and very popular, photo clue would make it easier. i wish they went to somewhere first to pick the other clue before heading to the pit stop

I believe that by this point in the race (less than 7 teams), first come, first served tasks should be dropped and linear thrill tasks should be mixed with another type of challenge.

what's good with linear leg is snowball effect: if you do well last leg, you will have advantage this leg. If you screwed up last leg, U will have a hard time catching up.
but that's problem with every 2nd leg in a country I think... thankfully there is a U-Turn and quite balanced detour. so yeah...
And Brodie & Kurt really got that snowball effect. :groan: So better think the endgame. and I love some teams think it throughly.

I feel that the leg only seems linear because of the coconut task that every team attempted? Tbh, the seaweed task MIGHT have displace some teams.

I have the same thing in mind. We've seen imbalanced detours this season such as Leg 5's where Burnie & Ashley fell behind or even Leg 3's where 3 teams were almost with Darius & Cameron that time.

I learned from there that not all detours should be balanced. Otherwise, it could just end up as dull as this episode's.

The Roadblock is also too linear. I mean with that time gap of leaving the pitstart there's no way to catch up if a team is U-turned. I am glad that detour comes first before roadblock but with that kind of roadblock it's still not fair.  :( :( :( :(

I hated the RB on this leg. And it was almost an identical task as the ARI on S25E01???

Why is it so hard for TAR to squeeze in a couple random locations? Like, just include a cryptic clue post-RB, directing the teams to some landmark. Great examples are in the finale of S16 and S19E11 (Panama leg). Why do they not do those anymore? :(

Or even without cryptic clues, telling the teams to pick up one/two clues in between the RB/detour/pitstop at random locations, not including any tasks there, would still greatly reduce the leg's linearity and allow for the teams to catch-up or get lost.

I wanted Brodie & Kurt gone because of their stupid EP usage, but on such a linear leg it wasn't satisfying.

That being said, I actually thought that the Roadblock is fine, but if it involved some sort of a task at the top, like looking at a complete puzzle, then jumping off, then immediately getting back in shape to solve the puzzle... it might make the task more exciting.
