A cameraman from the Vietnamese version of The Amazing Race died in a light plane crash in Victoria on Sunday while contestants were there doing a flying exercise.

The cameraman, named in reports as 43-year-old Quoc Huong Vu from Sydney, was the rear passenger in a plane piloted by Mt Evelyn man Ian Cook, 60, when it crashed, killing both men on impact at an airfield in Yarrawonga.

Yarrawonga Aerodrome manager Peter McLean said that on the day, cameras from the reality show were there to film as he flew with four contestants.'I had four contestants to fly with and they had to land the aircraft, that was it,' he said.'We were up there for about eight minutes, that's all it took to do the circuit.'

McLean said Cook was going for a flight, but said he was unaware he was taking a passenger.'I only saw Ian say he was going to go for a flight.''How the cameraman ended up there .. I don't know.''The only thing I can think of is the cameraman might have asked Ian if he can go up for a flight.'

McLean said the Amazing Race crew planned to be at the airfield for an hour before going to a ski park to do water skiing. The Amazing Race Vietnam, a reality game show based on the US TV series, The Amazing Race, involves teams of two travel to various destinations and complete various tasks to obtain clues to help them progress. -

Very tragic. I wonder if production is still going to go ahead, and also wonder if the teams witnessed this.
