I definitely think twist will be that they will pair two people for non-dating reasons

But that would be something we've technically already seen before...

It would be similar to the show Lost, which coincidentally premiered the same day as TAR1 back in 2001.

Reportedly there is a casting gimmick again....  :res:

And I just HOPE we GET a fall premiere slot. Being a mid-season replacement is not fun!

Peach, do you know the "twist" Elise teased? ???

If it's something entirely new that hasn't happened on any TAR versions, I have one idea in my mind. Teams consisting of singles, swapping between different team compositions every other leg or so.

I'm guessing it's some powerful one-season wonder like the DYM or the Save. ???

Pattern of Recent Themed Seasons
« Reply #63 on: May 15, 2016, 08:57:38 AM »
It's in a different board. No wonder I didn't see it. :groan:
I'll just transfer the stuff below from a thread that used to exist.

I don't really know where to post this, but I have noticed a certain pattern with themed seasons recently.

At the very end of TAR23, there was a short clip about an all-star season.
At the very end of TAR25, there was a short clip about some racers meeting each other only at the starting line.
At the very end of TAR27, there was a short clip about social media stars disconnecting for a while to join the race.

From what I noticed, it seems like TAR is filming themed season during November-December, so that they can release a short clip to excite or "excite" the viewers. There are some things to ponder on:

1.) Will TAR be continuing this trend for TAR30, 32, 34, and so on…?
2.) If they will continue this, what other themed seasons are possible?
3.) We've seen how TAR26 and TAR28 were disappointing when they were 1st announced but turned out pretty well when they aired.(can't say the same for TAR24  ) Do you think this will happen again when a themed season comes?

That's all I can think of for now. ??? Feel free to discuss about this speculated pattern.

Well I wouldn't be suprised if Tar 30 was an all Stars

I wanna add that TAR25 and TAR27 had public starts. I'm speculating TAR29 will do the same.

Meanwhile, I expect TAR30 to be another themed season without a public start.

The Save appeared on S26, though unaired :P

Yeah, that's what Mike & Rochelle were saying on a podcast. Apparently nobody won it.

Hmmm, that's interesting. How did no one win the save? Was it an optional acquisition like the express pass in 25?

One guy who claims to be in the know says that 29 will be entirely strangers randomly paired together. I'm sure many here have read it. I personally loathe that idea. I disliked the idea of social media stars, but at least it was basically a normal season since the teams have existing relationships (and I thought it was a great season). All strangers would be an abomination like 26.

If I remember rightly, teams had to complete both Detour options in Phuket to win the save.

I'm just wondering how the twist will be. If they were to pair strangers what criteria is it? Would it be based on profession? hobbies? preferences? I'm curious. Would they add some blind dates into the mix? As long as TAR nails the cast, the tasks, the editing, the new places. I'll be happy. S.28 isn't bad despite being themed. Bottomline is, I'm grateful to have another season.

The worst thing is casuals will most likely hate that twist no matter what, especially if the cast appears "not normal" to them or "model actors" and we would lose even more viewership. :(

I hope that if it's indeed random pairing, at least we will get all types of teams (M/M, M/F, F/F) and not S26 combination all over again...

This has been in my mind for so long, but I think the twist will involve the roadblock. In this new twist, the one who usually sits out will now be able to assist his/her partner in completing the task if it is deemed impossible to complete. Of course to win that new twist, they'd have to come first in leg one, similar to the express pass or however it is given.

I mean, I don't see any more twist they can do with the future seasons if TAR. The detour is already involved in various twists like the u-turn. But a roadblock twist however remains untouched. My best guess for a future twist will be a partner assisting type of roadblock or an intersection type roadblock.  :conf:

Change their partners for a leg.
When they start the leg they find out they are going to race with another partner for that leg, and then, in some point before the Pit Stop they will have to exchange to their original partner. Imagine when someone arrive to that point and their partner is not still there.
They do this in Pekín Express and it's so fun and nice to watch. :)
