I think Phil flying to HK totally rules out both AUS and NZ for us. There were multiple direct flights to Perth and Brisbane during that time.

HK onward  is what we need to focus on now. Don't think we would see HK again so soon, so looking onward.

That would possibly mean another new country :cheer:

I think we may be seeing Mainland China or Taiwan which tbh I'm happy about! Beijing would be awesome or Chengdu, maybe rural China like Zhangjiajie, Guilin or Xi'an. Taipei would be good too!, Soup Dumplings!!!!!!!

Since we still don't have our last continent, here are the possibilities I can think of.

[...]

Very off-route and unlikely, but if they do a penultimate African leg, that'd be great!  :colors :hoot:

I think Phil has JUST enough time to catch

ET 609 HKG ADD 1245 0624.

Teams, I assume, would be released in the morning of 12/4 and take

CA 1730 1910 DPS PEK
CA 1240 0720 PEK ADD (+1)

Phil gets plenty of time to film standups, and I suspect a 0 hour Pit Stop allows teams to take evening flights from Addis to somewhere in Europe to the US. *shrugs*

There are flights that same evening from Bali direct to Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, so those aren't very likely.
Possible onward destinations include Vancouver, Anchorage, Okinawa, Nagoya, Taipei, Busan, and a couple of second-tier cities in China...

There's also South African Airways 287 going to Jo'burg from HKG, but it would have been a tight connection for Phil.

*wonders if the five continent thing might be legit, with Africa being the 5th...*

It was mentioned in Georgian TV report: "Reporter said there would be 5 continents and 10 countries visited(that's what Phil said I think) this time".

Maybe they confused it with TAR27.

Just waiting to find out what country Phil touches down in for Leg 11, and hoping it's somewhere out of the usual.

The waiting game sucks, lol

Indeed. There is also a flight to Cape Town from HKG via Dubai: CX 745 0130-0645; EK 770 0850-1625

IF 5 continents were to be believed and Australia and New Zealand were to be ruled out (although not 100% but seems very weird for Phil to be going via Hong Kong to get there) then we're pretty much looking at one of the Pacific Islands - Fiji, Palau (PLEASE), Tahiti, French Polynesia, Samoa... But then how hard is it realistically to get back to the States from there? Unless you were pretty much going to LA, it's pretty difficult lol, especially if they want Phil to get ahead of the teams for stand-ups etc.

I'd say we're looking more towards Asia again at this point, praying for South Korea and not Japan though; mainland rural China would equally be cool I guess

(Also if it was Africa I would be LOVING this route even more but it seems weird to spend 11 legs going as far out as Indonesia and then turn tail and fly all the way back again in the space of a few days, but hey we got 3 new countries this Race so anything could happen at this point)  blahblah

MrDS: They did it once, Season 7 went as far east as India then turned around rather than circumnavigating. I wouldn't mind them doing that again.

Yes I know that but the double India leg was Leg 7 (?) so they did half the Race going there and half the Race coming back, not all but 1 leg there and then just 1 Leg on the way back; not entirely saying it's out of the realm of possibility, just seems unlikely given we only have 1 leg left before going back to the US

i arrived at the same time with Sheri & Cole. Tyler/Korey, Burnie/Ashley, and Kurt/Brodie were already there, not sure who arrived first. But Sheri/Cole, Matt/Dana, and Zach/Rachel are in correct order

Almost all of the South Pacific islands (Fiji, Tahiti, Samoa, etc) are best accessed via Australia or New Zealand, so I'm ruling them out.
There's a tiny tiny chance Phil was on his way to the North Pacific islands (Palau, Micronesia, etc), but the times to Guam and Manila for onward connections are all wrong.

Highly unlikely we'll double back to Africa for one final leg - imagine the expenses!

I think we might have to settle for a 4-continent race.

Here's something to think about.

Ignore the internet theme and look at the teams below.

Dana & Matt - Engaged Choreographers
Sheri & Cole - Mother/Son
Jessica & Brittany - Models
Zach & Rachel - Newlyweds
Scott & Blair - Father/Daughter
Cameron & Darius - Brothers
Kurt & Brodie - Professional Frisbee Players
Marty & Hagan - Mother/Daughter
Burnie & Ashley - Dating
Erin & Josslyn - Newscasters
Tyler & Korey - YouTube Hosts

This cast is pretty diverse and isn't all that bad, just think, we could have gotten MUCH MUCH worse.

A lot of these teams CREATE content through their own talent and do not obnoxiously vlog their day-to-day lives. They live their personal life in peace and I would really love to see how they do on TAR.

We haven't even seen a route yet, and we're already complaining lol.

If anything, it's not the teams that are the problem.

It's definitely how editing, route, and tasks will be.

If those three other pointers get it done this season, we could be in for an amazing surprise. (:

So far, route + tasks spoiled seem on point! Now pray for the editing

Hopefully these teams having a fanbase of sorts forces the editors to show them all equally with no domineering edit like the TAR27 unmentionables!
