LIVE SCOOP!!

Teams will get clue and have an Hours of OP!

Release time 0630

Next destination.....

Phil said off to the Detours, so perhaps both detours don't start until the morning...HOO would help mitigate differences in arrival times if they came from different cities (quasi-)arbitrarily.

There has been a provision in the contestant contracts since the beginning that the start line could be anywhere in the workd, and not limited to the U.S., and I'm starting to wonder if WRP is finally using that clause to have a start outside the U.S. for the first time. I have no specific insight other than the fact that the actual agreements/application forms from early seasons had that provision, so it is something that has always been provided for but not use, possibly until now.

Looked like just speculation and analysis I think, there was nothing about guarantees.

I heard one of the detours was "Make your way on foot to Plaza Garibaldi".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaza_Garibaldi

"Great balls of fire" detour could be related to an ancient mexican game

I think the virtual starting line may be true as almost all of the teams were really happy to see Phil, like if they didn't see him before!

Phil even mentioned how Tyler&Korey had chosen to wear shorts as if it was something new to him.

I mentioned a brand new clue box because they were unboxing it. New as in never used not as in a new design. :-)

So it's detour, then HoO. ???

Could they have returned to the classic TAR Leg 1 format wherein there's a task on day 1 (of the leg), followed by a HoO where teams get to sign up for departure times, followed by another task on day 2, then the pit stop?

If so, this would be exciting! :yess: :hoot: :wohoo: The recent 1st legs starting TAR14(?) only had Leg 1 filmed in a day (not including the flights going to Leg 1's main destination).

It was a taxi ride from the airport to Plaza de la República (Monumento a la Revolución) and then on foot to the MUTEM (Museo del Tequila y y del Mezcal) at Plaza Garibaldi for the Mariachi Madness detour. And it was a true Mariachi Madness! I almost felt compelled to break into the Mariachi circles and start singing! Pics on Live Sightings thread, I'm sorry they're so dark but they are taken from the outer-most mariachi circle and they were all dressing in black at night. This detour began to be solved by the first teams at around midnight local time. I was sooo happy that there was no police or security around at both locations as it showed that Mexico is a "normally" historic, pacific, enjoyable and beautiful gigantic city. I featured the MUTEM in the last TAR Design XVII Contest if you want to take a look at it.

I boosted the sound of several teams who were reading the clue, and here's what the Detour clue says:

Mariachi Madness: Make your way on foot to Plaza Garibaldi and search the crowd for a mariachi that is pretending to play.

Great Bulls of Fire: Make your way on foot to the homo... (Cole cuts off) and light up a churito (he cuts it off).

Plus, here are the Detours chosen via the vid and the sighting:

Jessica & Brittany: Bull
Brodie & Kurt: Mariachi
Marty & Hagan: Unknown
Erin & Joslyn: Unknown
Burnie & Ashley: Unknown
Matt & Dana: Mariachi
Cameron & Darius: Unknown
Scott & Blair: Bull
Zach & Rachel: Unknown
Sheri & Cole: Mariachi

Thanks for the pics Xarles! :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

TBH what are the odds of the "Hours of Operation" being a Pit Stop? *shrugs*

Great! You heard Bulls when I heard Balls. It's gotta be bulls! I got fireworks and now I get bulls = Toritos! These are the traditional Mexican firework-toritos (little bulls):

These pics are NOT from the actual detour.

While at the mariachi detour I kept scanning the skies for the fireworks and couldn't see any. Now it is clear the "Quema de Toritos" (Burning of the Little Bulls) takes place at ground level. No wonder I couldn't find it. A fireworks artisan carries a torito on its back while fireworks go off and runs around chasing the people in traditional town fiestas.

Are real bulls used for that detour? Because if so, we'll most likely know what the casuals will say.
