Phil has confirmed via his most recent tweet that the monument to the revolution in Mexico City is the location for the first cluebox... this means starting line already happened... is a night leg... teams might be lost looking for the monument... and after that they are off to the detours... There is a huge crowd...  :wohoo:

If there was a 'virtual' start instead of a 'normal' start and teams left from different cities--presumably randomly--then given that the flights arrived at different times from different cities, wouldn't that give some teams an inherent advantage just by virtue of which city they were 'selected' to leave from?  Alternatively, what if there's some sort of HoO as soon as they arrive in MEX to even things out?  (Or, the city they left from was determined from a normal start line, thus any disadvantage due to arrival time in MEX would be due to their performance in a task in LAX.)

Since the 1st leg is live (found out clearly based on 1 of the team's videos), could this be a NEL? ???

Y'all have me totally confused as to what is being live streamed and what has happened or not happened before that point. Was there an actual start before teams flew out of wherever to Mexico City, or was Mexico City the first destination?

I really an confused.

Ok. According to official sources the livestream was supposed to be the starting line. But teams were already spotted on the move to Mexico City. Phil released a video like 1 hour ago saying that he was preparing for the livestream event but he also said that he was next to the "first cluebox" that contains the detour clue. He was standing next to the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City. So it looks like there was no starting line live stream event and that the livestream will be from the cluebox location. What would the livestream be now? I don't know but Phil mentions a live update on the race. Maybe what he has been doing since TAR25 announcing who's on the lead or on the back. I hope this helps.

Directions from Airport to Phil

So a little less than 30 mins to get there...wondering if they took taxi or metro/bus?

Also, if they're going straight from the airport, then that means leaving airport around 9:30 CST, which is around 2 hours from when they probably landed.  That much time in customs perhaps?

Spec: Teams started off from their homes with a clue given to them there and were told to fly to Mexico City on a pre determined flight. Would explain the multiple airport sightings.

But weren't they sequestered on Tuesday?

Bet on traffic. It's one of the worst of Latin America.

Given that the teams are coming in from 3 or 4 cities and arriving at different times, then having to be a part of the live stream (which may just be a minute or two to pick up the clue or longer if interviewed), I think an HOO is probable just to even things up.

I still think they had a starting line in Los Angeles, probably indoors away from the public. I have a suspicion as to where but no proof. I think it's possible there was a challenge to assign teams to their flights. I think it's also possible that I'm completely wrong.

I have a hard time believing they would ditch the famous "the world is waiting for you. Go!!" line and have them all start in different cities. These have to be like connecting points.

That's what I'm thinking. I think teams flew from Los Angeles to Mexico City with connections in the various airports they have been seen at. Phil probably took a direct flight to get there first.

IDK...I didn't think they'd ditch "teams of two in existing relationships"...but we all saw the blind daters!  Who knows what we're in for?
