Phil will be live tweeting Sunday night FROM THE FIRST DESTINATION! NOT the start line...

Could today's horrible attacks change possible Europe plans for this season?
Not unless the go to France in the first 3-4 legs.

Assuming a LA start  :gaah:  I'm guessing Phil will be live tweeting from El Salvador.

Just speculation  :)

My guess Phil will be tweeting inside LAX for the start, although Australia might be a penultimate first destination (the first leg).

Those of you suggesting places for the livestream. I would recommend thinking about daylight. There is no way they are doing a livestream in an indoors location or at night. To showcase the scenery I think the priority might be daylight. Is always a possibility that will go to a party destination like thailand and we get a nightlife livestream but it feels so unlikely to do it in Leg 1.

Anyone timezone savy enough to suggest an area of the world where daylight is prominent at the time of the livestream?

Maybe it's best for TAR to avoid major cities. Perhaps we will get to see more small towns and rural places this season.

Regarding Europe, probably the only place they can visit is Iceland? Maybe we will have a Europe-free season for only the 3rd time.

Maybe if they skip a big chunk of Europe, could Canada finally be a possibility?

not gonna lie but, I would love to see Canada being the first destination, like being the shortest gap between US and the first destination.

especially Niagara falls area because they could start in US and not even fly for first leg that would be so cool

Iceland is technically part of Europe which is more cultural and geographical, the eastern half of that country belongs to Eurasian Plate.

I don't know, but I don't think they will come to some European countries, like France, Spain, Belgium, UK, etc because the Paris attack. We are not with extreme security at the moment, but I don't think TAR wants to put those teams on here, for prevention.

Btw, there are some places where it can be nice. For example, Canary Island, Spain. They are far from the peninsula, great place...

I would love to see Canada for the first leg, yeah. Iceland too.

The race needs to return to forgotten European countries like Lithuania and Romania, they haven't been there in seasons 12 and 14 respectively and are due for a revisit in the future  :trampb:  :grins:

TAR has changed locations because of far less things than terror attacks though. :)

So at the very least, they may avoid France, Belgium, Switzerland if originally planned and will avoid connections through Paris at least.

I expect Phil will be at the starting line. He'll catch an earlier flight than the teams and arrive ahead of the teams and be there tomorrow evening to do the live streaming. This isn't a major change from the past in timing. He just needs 30 minutes or an hour of extra time.

Even after all this Europe is still safest continent, like seriously this is just an incident, Europe didn't turn into a war zone all of a sudden. Don't overreact.

Don't overreact.
Well said.

Europe is still likely to be visited.

So I'm not expecting a huge city as the final destination due to the cast and possible spoilers.

I think France was not likely visit anyways since we just have a Monaco-French Riviera leg and Paris leg on past 2 consecutive seasons.

Speaking of European countries judging the terrorism and the refugees crisis, it's the good chance to visit the under utilized countries like Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Ireland, Iceland, and Finland or a new countries like Slovakia and Latvia.
