About Dana and Amanda
Dana and Amanda aren’t exactly who you picture when you think of police officers in the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC). This driven, type-A duo met when they were 15 years old and competing against each other in high school rugby and cheerleading.
Dana joined the RNC at 18, a year before Amanda, and subsequently helped Amanda with her application. It’s very rare for individuals without degrees to be accepted but both women defied the odds, proof of their hard work and determination. Their police training has further amplified their dedication to working hard and not giving up. “We were trained in the police force to have the ‘warrior mentality.’ What this means is no matter how tough of a situation or how much we want to give up, we will keep going until we have nothing left to give,” says Amanda.
The friends have been stationed at the same detachment in a remote northern region of Labrador, where they spend a lot of their time together, both at work and on their personal time.
In September, Dana will be transferring to a different detachment and they will be apart for the first time. They figure now is a perfect time to complete the race together. They want to represent strong women, and are also particularly proud of their province and want to represent Newfoundland and Labrador on the race.
If Dana and Amanda were to win THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, they would buy their first houses and set up their futures.
