The Great British Baking Show (called 'The Great British Bake Off' in the UK)

Stumbled across this original BBC baking show broadcast Sundays here on PBS.

"THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW features 12 passionate amateur bakers whose goal is to be the U.K.’s best. The series follows the trials and tribulations of the competitors — young and old, from diverse backgrounds across Britain — as they work to prove their baking prowess. Each week, the bakers tackle a different skill, the difficulty of which increases as the competition unfolds. PBS will present the BBC’s recent fifth season of the series, which received both critical and audience acclaim for its quick pace, lively comedic tone and competitor diversity.  "

Not that I'm a fan of these type of cooking shows, but this one caught my eye in that there is NO screaming, NO violence, NO food shaming, and NO manic chefs.  Instead, it focuses on ordinary British contestants (and wannabe chefs) showing their BAKING skills in a friendly environment.

As the article states, the Fifth season broadcast last December, so the Sixth season recently started. Check your local listings for exact time/date of broadcast.

Some "fun facts" about celebrity judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry.

Wikipedia says: " Since the show launched in 2010, Hollywood has been a judge on the BBC2 programme The Great British Bake Off. In this capacity, he has been described as the "antidote" to judges such as Len Goodman or Simon Cowell in other reality TV programmes, on account of his straightforward and honest manner and because his judging is restricted purely to the finished product.  His partnership with Mary Berry has been described in The Guardian as being the "secret weapon" of the show and potentially one of the best judging combinations to have appeared on reality TV."

Wikipedia entry on Paul Hollywood

But it wasn't always "unicorns & rainbows" with Paul, as this London Mail article reports.  link   :ascared

I find Paul overly blunt sometimes if I'm honest.
