Ok, two things to say:

First, for the last time we're open for business.

Second, my cable is down but the episode has already been uploaded on the usual channel. So I'm working Flash-mode to write a recap and try to post it here on the scheduled time. Finger crossed.  :cmas16

Previously on The Amazing Race Latin America...

Eleven teams started on Quito. They traveled across 12 of the most impressive places of Ecuador.

They facer extreme challenges, fears and limitations.

Eight couples said good bye to the big dream of being in the finals:
David & Audi, Ana & Vantroy, Carlos & Orlando, Ceci & Delfina, Sonia & Gabriel, Stefa & Felipe, Jenny & Martín, Christian & Dina.

Today, 3 teams will battle each other in the final leg. They'll have to give everything to be the winners of The Amazing Race and get the 100.000 dollars prize.

Friends and partners Nicolás & Javier used the nobility and optimism as their best weapons; and proved that they have the strenght and energy required to beat their adversaries.
The brothers-in-law Juan Carlos & Giovanni faced the challenges with intelligence and strategy; despite the missteps, they crowned as the "commando team" of the competence and have the cleverness to take the mat.
Father & daughter Juan & Ceci counted with luck on their side, and
avoided elimination 2 times. They used all their strenght to continue on the race; and are ready to show that they have what is needed to claim the victory.
The contestants of Argentina, Ecuador and Mexico compete in a hard-fought finale; and only one will be the winners of The Amazing Race...

Ciudad Alfaro. Penultimate Pit Stop of this vertiginous race, is an iconic place where rests the ashes of Eloy Alfaro Delgado, main protagonist of the history of Ecuador.
Today 3 teams will face each other on the great finale of The Amazing Race.

Nico & Javier depart first.
RI: Make your way on taxi to the Manta Bus Terminal and board a bus to the city of Guayaquil. Once there, travel by cab to the Plaza Pilsener at the Las Peñas neighborhood, and look for a trio of Lagarteros (guitar players) who will handle the next clue. 80 dollars for this leg of the race.

Commandos depart in 2nd. In the cab they say that they're going home.
Friends talk about JC & Gio only a minute behind them, so they are probably going to be stick to them. And that's exactly what happens.
They buy together the tickets.

Juan & Ceci depart in 3rd place. She says that the definition of the race will be on the last task. For that, is important to arrive close to the other teams.

First bus leaves with the male teams on it. Nico says "it's all or nothing today".  Javi also comments that is the first time that a team is racing the finale in its hometown; that they need to be skilled for getting info but also to keep an eye on them all the time.

Juan & Ceci on the second bus. No time reference between both buses. Juan is expecting an equalizer somewhere on the leg.

Jaime introduces the last destination of the race: Guayaquil is the most populated city of Ecuador and a place of multiple contrasts.
Business and entertaiment center that in the last years is having a great architetural development. Is here where the finalist will arrive to give it all in this thrilling final leg of The Amazing Race.

First bus arrive at night. Both teams begin walking through the terminal, but suddenly one of the commandos start racing and it becomes a dash to the cabs.

Ecuadorians talk about 2 different entrances to the Plaza. The main one and another with stairs. Both teams ask for this entrance.
On the cab, Nico & Javi ask the driver what is a lagartero and he told them "guitar players".

Juan & Ceci arrive to the city. On the taxi they also talk about the advantage of the Ecuadorians on racing on their city.

Bros-in-law and friends reach the plaza with only a couple minutes difference. Nico & Javi ask a security guard for the lagarteros and he send them to the top of the plaza. Meanwhile, JC & Gio find the guitar players, but apparently they're not the right ones.
Nico & Javi get help from a local who guide them to the place where the lagarteros could be.

Father & daughter stop for asking directions to another cab driver.

The thing is, the commando found the lagarteros but they didn't pay attention to what they were singing. When they return to them they notice that they're singing (sort of less) "Today there's no race and you have to return tomorrow morning because the clue will be here at 11.00am"
Nico & Javi also find them and realize immediately what they say.
Finally, Juan & Ceci locate the players and listen the song. The happiness on their faces in huge.

Next morning, and all teams are waiting. At 11.00am they receive the clue for each one of the three players.

RI: Travel on foot to the Casa Pilsener Restaurant. Once there they have to count the different color and value poker chips until finding the correct amount. Once done, they'll receive the next clue.
Note: chips value is the following: white=7, green=35, red=54 and blue=99

The task location a meter away from the lagarteros, so they quickly start to complete the task.

Commandons don't understand what they have to do. Argentinean separate the chips in groups of ten. Mexicans also can quickly understand what to do. At this point everybody is separating the chip in piles of ten.

Nico & Javi first attemp: their number is 81.516. Incorrect. They return and soon try again: 80650 the number... and they got it right!

Nico & Javi finish in first place.
RI: travel on taxi to the TC Channel to find the next clue.

They run to the cab, but looks like something fall from their backpacks ?
On the cab, they expect that the others experience problem while solving the task, so they can have a little time advantage.

Commandos go with the judge: they're number is 81631, and it's wrong.
Father & daughter try with 81539 and of course it's wrong.
Ecuadorian try again, and it's correct!

That dissapoint Mexicans, but they say they have to keep trying. In confessional, they also say that they were hoping for a mental challenge like this one all the race and when it happens they failed.

Argentineans at the television Channel.
RB: Who loves the show?
In this last Roadblock the teams should face an extreme physical challenge of a television show.
The team member must go to the studio of Calle 7 show and overcome the demanding game circuit. After completing, racer will receive the next clue.
Javi is doing the RB. And Jaime is there as the announcer.

At the ARM, Juan & Ceci are still trying to solve the task. Meanwhile, the commandos arrive to the tv studio.
Wow, they see Javi performing the RB and go straight to the place, without picking the clue. JC start to doing it, but they're asked about the clue so they realize they must locate the box and get it before starting, what they quickly do.

Father & daughter try again, and this time they deliver the right number, leaving the task in last place. On the cab, she speaks again about asking for a mental challenge and how they sucked doing it.

At the RB, Javi complete the first challenge of the circuit, picking a race flag. While doing the second, JC is starting the first.
Javi is struggling at the second challenge, climbing a zip line with a flag at the end. And suddenly he made all his way back to the beginning.

After a couple minutes, Javi starts climbing the rope again. That allows JC to catch and surpass him.
Ecuadorian passes to the third challenge, while Javi is still struggling. Nico is encouraging him to finish it.
Juan & Ceci finally arrives to the tv studio. She will do the RB.

Javi is trying to complete the zip line; but JC is over with the third challenge and start the fourth one. Ceci is doing the first part.
And JC is done.

Commandos are firsts at the RB.
RI: travel on taxi to the main hall of the Sanchez Aguilar Theatre at Samborondón. Once arrived, they must look on the chairs for the a ticket that will guide them to their next challenge.

Wow, Javi is receiving kinesiological help. And Ceci is ready to climb the zip line; but as in all the race, physicall tasks are not the best for her, so she start to struggle too. And she decided not to complete it and go to the next section!
Javi do another attempt, and he reaches the flag! He moves to the following section. And it's a battle between him and Ceci.

On the cab, commandos say that this is not finished yet, they have to keep the pace.

At the RB, Ceci is in the last part, while Javi is in the middle of the third. But she struggles with this one too, allowing Javi to catch her. However she manages to finish it! Mexicans are in second place. Argentineans end in last place.

Ecuadoreans arrive to the theatre and locate the main hall. They start to search among the chairs. They say that there was at least 1000 chairs on the place. So knowing they have a good difference with the other teams, they begin the search doing each one a row and the section of the left first. And when they're in the middle, they found the ticket!

They have to go to the Zaruma hall of the same Theatre.
RI: Identify the 12 greeters (Hello, TAR17!) and place them in order on the 12 tablets Samsung. Once they complete it correctly, they will receive the next clue.

Commando says that they have been writting everything that had happened on the race, from the places they were until Toya's hair..., with only one exception: the greeters. :groan:

Juan & Ceci arrive to the theatre and go straight to the Zaruma hall. They clue giver points in direction of the main room and they go there. They start to look on the right side.

In Zaruma, commandos only have four greeter placed.

Nico & Javi arrive to the threatre. And they find the ticket in a chair where father & daughter have already looking!  This is watched by the Mexicans.

Friends head to the Zaruma hall. They receive the clue and enter the hall. They find the bros-in-law there. Those ones say that "once again those Argentinean horses were there, breathing on our necks..." That they thought they were the only ones to have taken notes and suddenly they saw that the friends also have made it. It was like everything falling over them. So they concentrated on their fight.

On the main hall, and after spending some time, father & daughter find their ticket and proceed to the Zaruma hall to complete the active route marker.

All three teams are now doing the task at the same time. Of course, Juan & Ceci also have race notes and like JC & Gio, they didn't include the greeters.

Commandos first attempt is incorrect.
Nico & Javi are also wrong.
Father & daughter call the judge: it's a no.

JC & Gio realize that they have the wrong greeter on the first leg. They change it and call the judge: they're done!

RI: The Parque Histórico de Guayaquil is a sanctuary in the city. This is the finish line of the race. The first team to arrive will be the winner of The Amazing Race and the 100.000 dollars prize.

The bros-in-law run to finish line, but they have to stop because they dropped the clues. At the same time, Nico & Javi call the judge for a new attempt..., and it's correct. They get the final clue.

Commandos say that they were calmly running until they suddenly saw the friends coming behind them and now it becomes a mad dash for the big prize.

In the theatre, father & daughter complete the task and receive the clue.

On the streets of Guayaquil, the first two teams run like hell looking for the finish line.

Ecuadorians and Argentineans are both now on the marked path to the finish line only seconds away one from another.

Juan Carlos & Giovanni are the first to arrive to the finish line. (Why the other teams aren't there? They were all racing in only one country!)
After 13 destinations, more than 3.500 kilometers, they are the winners of The Amazing Race.

They shout that together they're invincible. They say that this victory is greater because of their rivals, referring to the Argentinean friends.
You must beat the bests, they say.

Nico & Javi arrive on second place. They say this experience was incredible, they raised their game to a new level. That is a once in a lifetime experience. They won a four nights trip for 4 persons to Disneyworld in Orlando.

Juan & Ceci steps into the finish line in third place. Juan is happy for finishing the whole journey, although they would prefer to arrive in first place; but this has been a marvellous experience and they grateful for that. Jaime told them that they're the first father & daughter team to reach the finals in the history of TARLA. They're rewarded with four tickets for the Tren Crucero de Ecuador.

Congratulations Juan Carlos & Giovanni! Although I was rooting for the Argentineans, you had quite a blast, most notoriously on the last legs.  :cmas27

Now, some comments on the leg.

When they return to them they notice that they're singing (sort of less) "Today there's no race and you have to return tomorrow morning because the clue will be here at 11.00am"

I spent way too long trying to figure that out. Maybe I should pay more attention next time :cmaslol

Meanwhile, the commandos arrive to the tv studio.
Wow, they see Javi performing the RB and go straight to the place, without picking the clue. JC start to doing it, but they're asked about the clue so they realize they must locate the box and get it before starting, what they quickly do.

I'll be a devil's advocate and point out that two teams received penalties last season for doing the exact same thing. Those 15 minutes would have probably meant a victory for Javi & Nico.

JC & Gio realize that they have the wrong greeter on the first leg.

I couldn't believe the way they found the correct greeter (they saw some teams reflected on the guy's glasses :cmas18). Quite remarkable.

BTW, the hall the teams performed the final task looked pretty cool.

Ecuadorians and Argentineans are both now on the marked path to the finish line only seconds away one from another.

Either the Argentineans were held off by the production or something, or the editors had a field day making us believe that they were just seconds behind Juan Carlos & Giovanni, because I can't see them at all while they were celebrating. I also wonder how far were Ceci & Juan from Nico & Javi.

Juan Carlos & Giovanni are the first to arrive to the finish line. (Why the other teams aren't there? They were all racing in only one country!)

That's a pretty good question. I expected to see at least Christian & Dina greeting the teams, as sometimes the last team to be eliminated traveled with the production team to the finish line, and hey, they were Ecuadorians too, it's not like Guayaquil was too far.

Juan Carlos & Giovanni are the first to arrive to the finish line.

Nico & Javi arrive on second place. They won a four nights trip for 4 persons to Disneyworld in Orlando.

Juan & Ceci steps into the finish line in third place. They're rewarded with four tickets for the Tren Crucero de Ecuador.

So, no smartphones or tablets? What a shame  :cmas4

I want to thank Leicich for the help today with the live update.  :cmas17

You are welcome  :cmas22 Man, if you actually type these live updates while watching the show, you deserve a prize (maybe a pair of Samsung Galaxy S5 or Claro Tablets  :mas25)

See you all next season (if there is one)...

The finale was pretty good. JC and Gio figuring out the final task was pretty similar to TAR Norway season 1, where the Brothers figured out the clue by noticing barely visible palm trees in their last picture.

Hmmm... According to the Wikipedia article (caution!), all 3 teams split their roadblock count 8-8. Therefore, I guess the rules specified a maximum of 8 roadblocks per team member, hence JC getting to see the roadblock before being chosen to do so essentially meaning nothing, as he had to do it anyways (or risk facing a penalty at the finish mat); we've seen something similar two legs ago, when certain people were forced to do the Roadblock (therefore each team having a 7-7 roadblock count, this again is based on Wikipedia).

Do you think that this influenced in the Ecuatorian team not getting the "Seeing the Roadblock before getting the clue or choosing the team member that will perform it" penalty?

Excellent job Alenaveda! Awesome work!

I was idly browsing Twitter when I found the accounts of some of the contestants (getting their full name and hometown). Maybe this, plus Facebook, could be the way to get them all.

Feel like doing a little investigative work? It would be really appreciated!
