Previously on The Amazing Race Latin America...

The four surviving teams arrived to the Montañitas commune, and proved that the race was becoming more gruelling.

They had to be alert for finding the most precious item; being entertained and meticulous on the detour; perform a peculiar landing; and move themselves with skill and balance to the mat.
Ecuadorian commandos hold their leading position; but compatriots Dina & Christian hadn't their luck and were eliminated.

The final battle begins with 3 representatives from different latitudes of Latin America. The teams are...

Ecuadorian brothers-in-law Giovanni & Juan Carlos who have represented in high note the host country. They possess the intelligence and strengh to win.

Argentinean friends Nicolás & Javier have the winners' nobility and spirit; and are willing to giving it all to acheive the big goal.

Mexicans Juan & Ceci have shown bravery and courage and will bring out all their guts to arrive first to the finish line.

Three couples and one single goal: winning 100.000 dollars and The Amazing Race.

Located in the province of Santa Elena, the Olón Beach in one of the most extensive of the Ecuadorian coast and was the eleventh Pit Stop of the race. Only three teams remain, and one single objective: to win the prize of 100.000usd and The Amazing Race.

JC & Gio first to depart.
RI: Make your way on taxi to the Montañitas bus stop and board a bus to the city of Manta in the province of Manabí, Once there, travel by cab to the Oro Verde Hotel and sign the registration book that will determine the departing times next day. You have 70usd for this leg of the race.

Commandos says "To Manta Beach. See you later alligator".

Javi & Nico rip off the clue in second place. Juan & Ceci do the same in third.
All teams are travelling on taxis to the bus stop. Ceci ask info to the driver about buses time, and he tells her that they depart every 30 minutes.

Bros-in-law arrive to the bus stop first. This is funny, they aks a guy about the bus and he told them is on the opposite sidewalk. So they ask him to tell the other teams that they have picked a bus and are gone while they're hiding in a nearby place "you'll see how this driving them crazy". But before they can hide, Nico & Javi see them from their taxi, so they can pull it on them. Instead of that, they all agree on play it on the mexicans.

Of course, when father & daughter arrives they can't see them and think they're all on the bus that just has left. So they decide to run trying to catch them. At this moment, the other two couples return to the bus stop at start yelling at them about not being the right bus while laughing.

Juan & Ceci can't catch the bus, and return to the stop thinking that the other teams told the driver not to wait for them; only to discover that the two teams are on the bus stop. And it's once they're all on board that they realize that they were victims of a prank.

Jaime presents Manta: it's the first touristic and fishing port of Ecuador.

All teams drop from the bus and run to the cabs.
Juan & Ceci are first to leave. Argentinean friends are right behind them. Nico tells the driver they're on a competence, and they must surpass the cab ahead, lying to him saying they're Peruvians.
The three teams arrive at the same time and it's a race for checking first in the book:
Juan & Ceci first, JC & Gio second and Nico & Javi in third. All sign up at 3.53pm.

Next morning three tablets Claro are waiting for them at the hotel's bar. Juan & Ceci first to see the clue.
RI: Make your way on taxi to the Puerto de San Mateo when you'll find the next clue. NOTE: YOU MUST KEEP YOUR TAXI.
The three teams run to the parking area in front of the hotel to catch a cab.
Inside the cabs, all teams are excited to be on the finals. Ceci says that they must forget that and still racing one step at a time. Argentineans says that it's a huge achievement to be there, but now only remain the cherry on the cake, win the money and use it on their projects.

Mexicans first at the clue box on the dock, with friends in second and commandos in last.
DETOUR: teams must pay attention and mantain their stability at the moment of choosing between BOAT and STAND UP PADDLE.
BOAT: this option require teams to board a marked boat and row looking for the 30 fishes distributed on the ships moor on the port. Once they have all them, they must travel back to the dock to exchange them for the next clue.
STAND UP PADDLE: this option requires that each team member board a Stand up paddle board and search in the surrounding buoys for a piece. Each time they get one, they must carry it to the dock and later continue with the searching. With all them, they must assemble their next clue.

Bros-in-law and Juan & Ceci opt by Boat; while Javi & Nico choose Stand Up paddle. Friends says that they were a little scared because the other two teams went for the other option, but some times one options ends being the fastest one.
When the arrive to the location of the detour, and Spanish guy tell them that there are  3 gruops of buoys at each side of the dock and they only have to pick one piece for each one. They have to stay up all the time, and only can knee or lying down to pick the piece.
JC & Gio explain that they choose the boat because it would be more simple to row. Also that way Gio wouldn't get his injuries wet with sea water.

While Ecuador and Mexico leave the dock rowing, Argentineans friends reach the first group of buoys and pick the piece.

The commandos have an argument about the way each of them is rowing.

JC & Gio are still arguing. And Javi & Nico let the piece number 1 at the dock and make their way to the second group of buoys.
Juan & Ceci reach the first ship and ask for fishes (they only get 3 of them at each boat). The commandos also collect their first fishes.
In paddle, Javi tries to catch the second piece, but lost balance and fall to the water; so Nico goes for it.
On boat, the Ecuadorians receive three more fishes on the next ship. The same with Juan & Ceci on a different boat. Father & daughter bicker a little, but manage to find another ship to receive more fishes.

Wow!, JC & Gio are arguing like never before in the race. Lot of beeps while talking... They fishes account now is 9.

Back to paddle, Nico is picking the piece number 3.

Juan & Ceci now have 12 fishes in their boat. Commandos get 3 more on another boat, both of them sound in a mix of anger, anxiety and hurry. The Mexicans increase their account to 15.

Nico is picking the fourth piece of the clue and Javi the number 5.

On boat, both teams keep collecting fishes. And bros-in-law have all them and head back to the dock. They're first at the detour.
RI: travel on taxi to the Base Naval del Cantón Jaramijó. NOTE: YOU MUST KEEP YOUR TAXI.

On the confessional, Gio says that because of the friendship and the years knowing each other, the bickering always ends once the task is done... And edition cut to them on the cab still bickering about what happened. :funny:

Juan & Ceci finally receive the last fishes and return to the dock. At the same time, Nico & Javi reach their dock after picking the last piece a start assembling it. Father & daughter are 2nd.
Friends can't get the whole clue, and then notice one piece is inside the bucket where they had to place them while searching. They're in 3rd. But their taxi driver is fast, and surpass the Mexicans on the road.

Ecuadorians first at the Base. They find the clue box outside the door and when the rip it off is a Roadblock.
RB: Who better protects their belongings?
Team member must become another one of the troop, proving that they have the strength to stay on the race. Racers must board one of the military vehicles that will take them to the naval base's beach. Once there, the performer must swim carrying a backpack to a buoy in the sea and return to the shore to get the next clue.

Gio, Nico and Juan are doing it.  On the travel to the beach, Javi tells Nico that this is the moment to jump to first place, of "comerles el hígado" (Argentinean slang for "obliterate a competitor"), that commandos are old and feel worry when they saw them behind.

At the beach, JC & Gio arrive first, but friends are right behind them. Minutes later Mexicans are there.

The instructor sends the three performers to the water to get wet, and then to roll over the sand and do push ups, and run around a big tent placed on the beach and more training.
Gio is the first to start swimming to the buoy. Nico is the second.
The bouy is at 200 meter distance from the beach and the weight of the backpack is 25 pounds. The big issue here is that the backpack in increasing his weight due to getting wet, making more difficult the swim.

Gio is the first to reach the buoy, with Nico only seconds behind and Juan a little later. They all try different swimming styles.
The commando is the first to return to the beach, always closely followed by Nico. They must put the backpacks at the designated area and look inside for a wool with the clue. Nico is so tired he can't even open the backpack.
Gio get the wool first.
RI: board the military vehicle and return to the base's entrance. There board your taxi and make the way to the station of the Policia Nacional GIR.

Nico & Juan find the wool at the same time.

Ecuadorians arrive to the entrance and board their cab. It's only a 4 minutes trip. While they're leaving, the other two teams reach the entrance. Nico says it was one of the hardest things he had to do.

They all arrive at the Policia Nacional in the same order.
RI: Teams must overcame the different stations of a pentathlon circuit. Once both team members are done, they'll receive the next clue. NOTE: YOU MUST CONSERVE YOUR TAXI.

On the foot race to the circuit, Argentinean friends surpass the bros-in-law, what is important because teams cannot surpass the one who is ahead while doing the circuit.

Nico & Javi start the circuit. It includes climbing ropes, fences and walls. Both friends and commandos take an early lead, as Ceci fails to climb the rope what makes her father loosing concentration and fall.

In one of the challenges, creeping under a net and after a correction from one of the instructors not to do it crawling on his back but on his chest, Gio hurt his legs again.

Wow, Nico & Javi are on the last part of the circuit and the commandos in the middle and Ceci is still trying to climb the rope!
Nico says that he was unnable to think, but the adrenalin and the instructors shouts pushed him to the end.

Father & daughter find a way to climb, using the posts a each side. Ceci is the first to reach the top, but Juan is too tired to do it.

Nico & Javi are the first to complete the circuit, receiving the clue.
RI: Travel on taxi to the Cantón de Montecristi and search the Basílica Menor de la Virgen de Monserrat. There they will find a Samsung tablet with the next clue. NOTE: YOU MUST KEEP YOUR TAXI.

In one of the obstacles, Gio falls to the ground. At the rope, Ceci is helping her dad to climb, but he can't do it anyway.

Bros-in-law in second place. Gio has hurt his knee and it's bleeding.
Friends say they have to take advantage of the little gap they have over Ecuadorians.

Juan tries again to climb and once again fall to the ground. But he's determined to try it again.

Nico & Javi reach the church, but start looking inside for the tablets. When people tell them to go to the opposite entrance, Ecuadorians are there too. Both teams go together, but there's nothing on the other side; they decide to return to the front and check again.

On the circuit, Ceci is telling her dad that is now or never. That this is the finals. They have to do it.

Friends and bros-in-law have returned to the front, and from the atrium the Argentineans see the tablet on the plaza in front of the church. They get it first.
RI: Each member should assemble a 13 traditional toquillla hat tower and placed in their heads. Then they must travel on foot to the Ciudad Alfato and deliver them to Toya and Jaime because is the Pit Stop of the race. The last teams to check in there, may be eliminated.
WARNING: BEFORE GOING TO CIUDAD ALFARO, ACTIVATE THE OPTION PEDOMETER ON YOUR SAMSUNG GEAR FIT.

Friends make the tower and start walking. But JC & Gio note that inside the hats there were pieces of foam rubber, so they take them away to have a shorter tower and run faster. That allows them to surpass Argentineans.

On the circuit, Juan is attempting again to climb the rope. And he reaches the top!  :cmas9  Then they proceed to complete the rest of the circuit.

At Montecristi, Nico & Javi catch Ecuadorians, but at a big stair they stop and do the same as JC & Gio with the foam rubber. With that done, they surpass the bros-in-law in the race to the PS.

Commercial.

Well, I'm starting to think that the hats that the teams will be bringing to the Pit Stop will be used in the next leg. I wonder if taking out the foam rubber will cost both teams a penalty.

And back to the race...

Finally, father and daughter arrive to the church and start looking for the tablets.

Nico & Javi arrive the PS. They gave 1828 steps to reach it. They're the first team to arrive, but they modified the hats by taking the foam rubber. They have to fulfill a 30 minutes penalty.

JC & Gio are the second in the mat with 2068 steps. And they're also penalized for the same reason the first team.

Juan & Ceci find the tablets and assemble the hat tower, making their way on foot to the PS.

Wow, Gio's old injuries reopen and are bleeding again. Meanwhile, father & daughter are on the road, walking.

With Juan & Ceci very close to the mat, time is up for Javi & Nico.
They're team number one  :yess:. They say that is a fulfilled dream being on the finals. They win a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone each.

JC & Gio are also done with their penalty. They're team number two.
They're rewarded with a Claro tablet each. The say The Amazing Race is a life-style.

Father & daughter are the last team to arrive. They're team number three. Ceci says the other teams are maybe a bit stronger than them, but they're waiting for their kind of challenges.

I called it  :cmas22

It seems quite surprising that this was not a keep-on racing leg; and I'm starting to think that the winners of TARLA 6 will receive a pair of Samsung Galaxy S5. Now, for the final leg, I think that the current order will be kept. However, Juan & Ceci may still pull of a Matias & Tamara, shocking the entire most of the continent, as there is a high chance that there's going to be a memory test. But will it be enough? Find out... next time! :cmas20

So, this is the first episode I've seen since Leg 2 or 3? The one where the mexican girl got injured so their team had to quit? I'll catch up later this week because if I understand correctly, the finale is next week...

And, I think I'll do it only because of my respect to the name "The Amazing Race" because I can't believe we had another leg focused on military training? I think 1 every season since Season 2?

The final Route Info to the Pitstop was actually interesting route to walk, but the hats were in the way, it was already a long walk and we could've had a footrace but the hats got in the way...

No TBC leg? No elimination, no speedbump to complete in the next leg, no nothing? that's weird...

I'm surprised to see father and daughter team still in it... The elimination of the chilean team surprised me because I remember them quite competent on it... what's with the injuries of the bros-in-law team?... what's with all this counting steps nonsense?...

Oh man, clues in tablets? so we are not even wasting paper budget on the race ah?, I'm guessing the one that the winning team got at the pitstop are the ones that they are reading the clues from.

I'm surprised you guys kept watching this trainwreck...

Your brain is probably right. I guess once the season is over I'm going to recheck that. If there's something wrong, for sure is in the first legs.
