I've always said, I had no problem with Ford or Snapple or 7up or Travelocity Gnome if it meant TAR is still on the air and can still go to great destinations  :hoot:

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much, but zap2it.com had a article last week that said Madame Secretary (TARs Sunday night replacement) was a toss up as to whether it would be cancelled or not. The thinking was that CBS has a bunch of low rated shows, but the others have run for several years and can be syndicated with another season completed. Madame Secretary is new and can't do that. That said, Madame Secretary went from 1.4 to 1.7 in the ratings this week and had 12 million viewers, more than TAR did last year in the same time slot. Still, if Madame Secretary is cancelled, that would open the way for TAR to move back to Sunday evening. But, I wouldn't count on that happening.

Sorry for the late post.

The final ratings for the second episode drew to 6.08 million viewers and always in the second place behind Last Man Standing.

Week 3 regressed to its premiere ratings, a 1.1 in the 18-49 demo.  So it appears that will be our new normal, somewhere in the 1.0 - 1.2 range.  I am hopeful that will be enough to ensure another season.  If it dips below that though, we're in big trouble. Hawaii 5-0 got a 1.3 and Blue Bloods a 1.2, so TAR isn't alone in pulling in low Friday ratings.  Sundays are also problematic for them, with no shows getting above a 1.7 or so at the moment.  So we shall see.

That appears to be the way things are going. Netflix/Hulu/whatever else have chomped up a big bit of TV numbers, On Demand has certainly changed the game.

The Major League Baseball playoffs started on Friday night, and some local markets are scheduling political debates for different state and local offices as well.

As to Premiere week, btw, the Live plus seven day data has come out today, and TAR's opening week numbers improved by 32 percent for total audience (from 5,519,000 to 7,275,000) and 64% for adults 18-54 (from 1.1 to 1.8 ).

Episode 3 final ratings adjusted down to 5.89 viewers, we'll going to keep up to improve the ratings little slower for the next episode.

That's definitely a very nice rating!  We now have a 1.1, 1.2, 1.1, and 1.4 so far (season 24 on Sundays got anywhere from a 1.5 to a 2.0, so to only be down a little bit in the Friday graveyard has to be seen as a good thing).  Furthermore, it was the second-highest rated show of the night, behind only Shark Tank.

That said, I'll try to temper expectations a little bit.  Next Friday, Fox will have Game 3 of the World Series.  The following Friday is Halloween.  So the next 2 weeks could face some serious challenges.  But for now, nothing wrong with feeling good about last night! (great episode too, wasn't it?)

6 million. Way too low and the lowest I've seen...

Hopefully this recent pick-up especially for epic episode leg 4 keeps the rest glued all the way till the end.

I found the live + 7 data from both episode 2 (Sept 26 - England) and episode 3 (Oct. 3rd - Shetland Islands) and it looks like good news for TAR!

For episode 2, TAR had a 64% increase and raised the 18-49 rating from 1.1 to 1.8. This was good enough for 12th place for largest percentage rating increase for the week (Sept 22- Sept 28). They list two other tables, largest 18-49 numerical ratings increase or largest total viewers increase and TAR did not make the top 25 in either one.

I'll insert the appropriate tables here, but I know the formatting will be horrible since the column title are so long. Normally, I'd try to make it look nicer, but it looks hopeless. I think you will still be able to figure it out and see how TAR compares to the other shows.

This was the 24th best percentage increase in the rating for the week but for Friday evening, it was 3rd behind Blue Blood and Utopia.  TAR did not make the top 25 for largest 18-49 ratings increase or largest total viewers increase.

25    Person Of Interest-09/30    CBS    1.8    2.8    1.0    56%

I don't know if this is a strictly valid assumption, but since TAR had 6.08 million viewers for week 2 in the final data and increased 64%, that would equal 9.97 million viewers. Episode 3 had 5.89 million viewers and increased by 58%, so that would be 9.31 million viewers. This is probably still not as good as on Sundays and other shows increased too, but overall, I find this hopeful news.

Thanks Plaid!

CBS had this to say:

THE AMAZING RACE
• THE AMAZING RACE was first in households (4.0/08), viewers (6.57m), adults 25-54 (2.0/07) and adults 18-49 (1.4/06) – the show’s season-best deliveries in these measures.

Down to a 1.0 rating last night, which is not a good drop.  Not totally unexpected, going against game 3 of the World Series, but more troubling is that it finished behind both Dateline on NBC, and the comedies on ABC.  Next week airs on Halloween, so I wouldn't expect great ratings then either.

And while the show gained a good percentage in DVR viewing, that's not a good metric to use.  Networks care about raw numbers, not percentages.  Look at all the shows that finished behind it in the chart - many of them gained more than the 0.7 that TAR did.  When the show's same-day rating is lower, it doesn't take a big DVR number to have a higher percentage than other shows (look at America's Next Top Model, which gained a whopping 0.2 ratings in Live +7, yet is 11th place for the week in percentage.  That said, its still good that people are realizing its on and watching it.  Just gotta get more people to watch live.
