Is the Pit Stop just the back of Angkor Wat? The two buildings look very similar

I think that Aston & Cristie are safe. It shows one of them (Cristie I think) harnessed up for rappelling/climbing in Thailand in the series preview.

TAR 13 Leg 5 went to Angor Wat, we had tons of Temple Maps at the time.
http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,15503.msg301646.html#msg301646

In case those links are outdated, here is a new INTERACTIVE Temple Map Link:

Maybe you can double check the location?

And that is why channel seven shouldn't spoil the whole race in one minute! Fixed!

From this cap, it looks like the Pitstop might be at Baphuon? ???

I guessed your right, see these matches:

From Wikipedia:

Quote
The Baphuon (Khmer: ប្រាសាទបាពួន) is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia. It is located in Angkor Thom, northwest of the Bayon.

The temple was opened in public on 2011 as a restoration temple. The Pit Stop location is approximately close to Bayon, the leg 5 Pit Stop of TAR13.

Didn't teams get a fish massage at Pub Street? Or was that just speculation? If it happened, it was edited out of the episode.

Anybody have any idea what flights they took? I've some possibilities over here.

Quote
The flights are a bit confusing as according to the episode they flew two flights via Melbourne and Sydney.

The only practical flight to Melbourne from Christchurch is on NZ 891 departing at 6:05am and arriving at 7:20am.

From Melbourne to Sydney there is a host of flights. Jetstar JQ 504 departs at 9:05am and landed at 10:52am with a 22-min delay. It's possible that this flight was overbooked, leaving some times to get on either Virgin Australia or Qantas which departed at 10am and landed at 11:26am and 11:35am respectively.

We know from RFF they then flew via Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap.

What I don't understand is why teams flew such a roundabout route, as they were flights from Melbourne to Singapore and Bangkok to Siem Reap. They could have even flew to Auckland and from there take a flight via Singapore (they flew Auckland - Singapore - Siem Reap in TAR 13).

Okay firstly

FLIGHTS: CHC → REP via SYD, SGN
VH772 SYD-SGN, VH815 SGN-REP

here

secondly according to this, you are wrong and SGN is the closest and why on earth would Bangkok/Singapore be the closest the flight schedules are basically going back over eachother and SGN is more streamlined

ALSO

SIN-REP=13 flights weekly
(3 Jetstar Asia, 13 Silkair)

BKK-REP=56 flights weekly
(21 Cambodia Angkor Air, 35 Bangkok Airways)

SGN-REP=48 flights weekly
(28 Cambodia Angkor Air, 20 Vietnam Airlines)

HOWEVER this in no way means there is an advantage of SGN over BKK BECAUSE VN/K6 codeshare widely (because K6 is owned by VN) and that does not happen to the same extent in BKK

I wasn't saying via Sydney or Melbourne, but via Auckland. I was wondering why they would route teams via Australia heck they could have flown out on SQ 928 to Singapore and then from there flown to Siem Reap.

I think you mean SQ282/286??? there aren't any SQ928s that I can find lol.

Also TARAus is sponsored by Virgin so they would obviously cross the ditch on them for a discount and like i said there are barely 2 flights daily on SIN-REP it's useless to do so

Sorry SQ 298...

Interesting fact Virgin and SIA have code-share agreements. I remember my sister flew Virgin to Oz once...
