FINAL THREE TEAMS ON WHY THEY SHOULD WIN ‘THE AMAZING RACE CANADA’

The two bartenders and friends from Vancouver have been saved twice in this “Race” so far, will luck be on their side again in the finale?

Number of Legs won: 0

Number of Times Saved by Non-Elimination: 2

Why do you think you’ve been able to make it this far?

Ryan: “We’ve probably been the most calm team. We almost look boring on TV because we never fight and we always stay focused … we have a good attitude and we’re just a couple of good guys.”

Why do you deserve to win?

Rob: “We’ve raced the longest ‘Race’ out of everybody … the whole journey we’ve gone through to get here (makes us deserve it).”

Ryan: “The whole time we kept saying, ‘We only have to win the last one’ so we got ourselves to it, now we have to prove we can do it.”

RYAN AND ROB’S LUCK RAN OUT IN FINAL LEG OF ‘THE AMAZING RACE CANADA’

Ryan Steele and Rob Goddard may have been saved by non-elimination twice while running “The Amazing Race Canada” but their good luck ran out in the final leg, where they finished in third place.

The co-workers and friends from Vancouver, B.C., started the leg in Ottawa, Ont., in first place but quickly lost their lead when their cab driver got lost.

“We were just never able to catch up. It was kind of annoying because we were right where we needed to be but we didn’t know if we should jump out of the cab or not,” says Ryan.

“So basically we got out of the ‘Race’ really early on.”

Best friends Mickey Henry and Pete Schmalz finished in first place, followed closely behind by Olympic champions Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson in second on Sunday’s night Season 2 finale.

“I think if that first cab driver had got us to the right place we would’ve been a little bit closer but everything happens for a reason,” says Rob.

But even though they couldn’t pull off a win, Ryan and Rob say they feel grateful for how far they did make it in the “Race,” especially considering they finished in last place on two separate legs.

“We were definitely the luckiest team, we get two non-eliminations, whereas Audrey and Alain get their first last place and they have to go home. Definitely we had luck on our side. It was just an honour to run the whole ‘Race,’” says Ryan.

“We redeemed ourselves,” adds Rob. “We fought hard.”

Now that the “Race” is over, Rob plans to head back to Australia for school and focus on his modeling career, while Ryan is hoping to spend more time on his comedy career.

Both friends, who are bartenders in Vancouver’s West End, say having this experience together has definitely brought them closer.

“We were buddies before, we work together, go to the gym together, but we’d only known each other for five or six years so the ‘Race’ definitely brought us together,” says Ryan.

“As close as we were before the ‘Race’ now we’ve done this whole adventure together. Not many people get to do so. I’m happy I got to do it with Ryan,” says Rob.
