Tomorrow is the Vancouver Sun Run with full road closures everywhere. SO Vancouver is unlikely.

A lot of road closures in Victoria as well! Maybe they are headed somewhere else on Vancouver Island?

So far about 4 teams
FF with red backpacks
MF? With red and black backpacks
MF with yellow backpacks
MM? With black backpacks
And
A black male with black backpack
A female? With purple backpack
Not  much
Probably 9 teams again

Skydiving is likely to be a roadblock. It appears they also had a task at the hotel.

Afternoon tea (on their website:http://www.fairmont.com/empress-victoria/dining/afternoontea/) strikes me as something possible for another task.

Willow Beach:

http://www.victoriabc.ca/victoria/willows-beach.htm

Willows Beach Park  is a white sandy beach destination located in Oak Bay which is northeast of the City of Victoria, British Columbia (B.C.), Canada on Vancouver Island. The white sandy beach is one of the more popular sandy beaches in the Victoria Regional District.

Willows Beach measures about 1.2 hectares in size and includes change rooms, toilets, day use picnic sites, concession (summer only) sightseeing benches, playground, grass lawns and a paved walking trail.

Activities enjoyed on and from the beach include swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, sightseeing and kayaking.

The views from the beachfront look out over Discovery Island and out onto Mount Baker over in Washington, U.S.A.

During the summer months the beach attracts large crowds and it wise to arrive early to secure your spot in the sand. The waters are particularlr shallow and protected from the elements making the beach popular for youg children.

A walking path connects Willows Beach to another popular oceanside park called Cattle Point which is part of Uplands Park.

Based on all the pictures in the live sightings, here is what I can conclude
At the airport: 5 teams
F/F red backpacks
M/F yellow backpacks
M/F M: black backpack and F with purple backpack [had similar jackets so I assume they are a team]
M/M black backpacks
M/F F [assuming] had the red backpack, M had the black backpack
That is only 5 teams

At the empress: At least 8 teams on the lawn; one missing
We can assume everyone on the lawn did the skydiving roadblock  :funny:
We also had 4 more teams
M/M with green and black backpacks
There is also 2 females, one with a blue backpack? and one wearing purple.
There is also one extra male.
Therefore there are 9 teams. :yess:
I am assuming the all female team with red, m/f team with yellow and m/f with the black and purple backpacks checked in because none are seen with the group of 6.
Also there was no purple backpack?

There is my analysis. We need more pics

Any thoughts on the pit stop for leg 1? My best guess would be Butchart Gardens, about 24 km from Oak Bay where the teams got in taxis.

Butchart Gardens would be a great place for the pit stop. It's very beautiful.  I looked at their website (http://www.butchartgardens.com/) and couldn't find any mention of a special event restricting access to some areas yesterday. Of course, I couldn't find any mention of restricted access on any day this spring. I do think we will get some pictures from tourists if TAR Canada was there.

Some could be crew. Riana, I am presuming is a friend of the poster. She also posted a pic of "crew" but I believe that is her crew, as in her friends. There are other Instagram posts coming in. Clue box pic by a different person. and there is another cluebox pic I just found next to a plaque. check the spoilers page.

Interesting
A possible pitstop
2 clueboxes
And no racers yet

The short video with the 2 racers Do not match any of the other contestant photos so far.
Could there be 10 or eleven teams?

Thanks windsor sue.

That plaque....
Based on how the cluebox was positioned the plaque is not important.
It could spoil a  location.

Well, the post with the still pic didn't mention teams - just camera and sound. There could also have been pros there for the task, set up crew and producers. The pics aren't that clear, either. As for more teams, there could be. I seem to remember the casting call mentioning more. Plus IF the start line was on the icefields, who's to say they all made it to the Calgary airport at the same time when those first tweets came in? I am sure that all the teams didn't arrive in Vancouver and/or Victoria at the same time. So we will just have to wait for more info.
