FAN FAVORITE ANDI DORFMAN GETS A SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE WHEN SHE STARS ON “THE BACHELORETTE,” RETURNING TO ABC ON MONDAY, MAY 19

Andi Dorfman, 26, a beautiful and successful woman, has it all at first glance — her loving family, her great friends, and even her dream job. But she realized there was something missing. So, last September, she put her busy life on hold to try and find love on “The Bachelor.” She thought she had found her match, but in the end it was not meant to be, and Andi walked away from Juan Pablo. She did not, however, let that experience stop her desire to find her perfect soul mate. Andi will embark on her own journey to find love when she stars in the tenth edition of “The Bachelorette,” which will premiere MONDAY, MAY 19 (9:00 – 11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. The identity of the new Bachelorette was revealed tonight on “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose.”

Please note: “The Bachelorette” will move to its regularly scheduled timeslot, Mondays from 8:00-10:01 p.m., ET on May 26.

While on “The Bachelor,” Andi revealed that she doesn’t want an ordinary love. She longs to find a great love like the one her parents share and her newlywed sister has found. She isn’t sure what has kept her from finding it, but she is sure she wants to keep on trying.

The whip-smart, stunning Bachelorette lives in Atlanta, where she works as an Assistant District Attorney for Fulton County, Georgia. Andi is one of very few women working as a gang prosecutor and she aims to keep her community safe by putting criminals behind bars. She hopes that one day her own children will live in a beautiful world full of warmth and opportunity. But first, she must fearlessly pursue her next goal - to find the wonderful love of her life.

Andi is the younger of two sisters and grew up learning how to hunt and fish, both activities she still enjoys -- almost as much as she loves to shop. Andi was a sorority girl at Louisiana State University until she graduated in 2009. After that, she earned her JD from Wake Forest’s Law School in 2012. She has been an Assistant District Attorney since passing the bar in her native Georgia and has been prosecuting criminals ever since.

Hosted by Chris Harrison, “The Bachelorette” is a production of Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Alycia Rossiter are the executive producers. “The Bachelorette” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 stereo surround sound.

'Bachelorette' Contestant Dies After Paragliding Accident

April 23, 2014
By LESLEY MESSER
via Good Morning America

One of the competitors on Andi Dorfman's season of "The Bachelorette" has died, his sister confirmed.

Eric Hill, an adventurer who sought to visit every country in the world in less than 1,200 days, was involved in paragliding accident Sunday that left him in a coma. He died this morning.

"Eric shared his final journey with us this morning as all his immediate family were able to be at his side when he passed away. Thank you to all of your love and support and prayers and fasting," Karen Tracey wrote on her Facebook page. "He gave us such a gift of a life fully lived and fully shared, and allowed us all to be a part of his last adventure here on earth. It is hard to think of life without his bright spark, but we know he is on to new adventures."

According to reports, Hill's parachute collapsed while he was paragliding in Utah with a friend.

The California native, who called his trip around the world, "The Global Odyssey," did not seem to be filming the ABC reality series at the time of the accident.

"We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic passing of our friend, Eric Hill. Eric inspired us every day with his passion, his courage and his adventurous spirit, and for that we are very thankful," "Bachelor" producers told ABC News. "On behalf of our cast, crew and producers, we send our love, our thoughts and our prayers to Eric’s family during this difficult time.

Andi will embark on her own journey to find her soul mate, choosing from 25 handsome bachelors when she stars in the tenth edition of “The Bachelorette,” which will premiere at a special time MONDAY, MAY 19 (9:30–11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Editors’ note: “The Bachelorette” will return to its regular time slot on Monday, May 26 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET).

Chris Harrison will honor Bachelorette contestant Eric Hill, 32, who tragically died after a paragliding accident in Utah on April 23, after concluding his filming of the show. Chris will reveal how Eric shared passionate and courageous spirit in becoming part of the Bachelor family. This 10th season of “The Bachelorette” will be dedicated to Eric.

In episode 1001, even the seemingly unflappable Andi has the same fears and insecurities as any other Bachelorette as her first cocktail party approaches. Looking exquisite in a jeweled gown, Andi discovers she is not the only one with a case of nerves. A romantic young musician invites her to fasten a lock on a gate with him à la the famed “Love Lock” Bridge in Paris. A hunky personal trainer shows off his prowess by pushing his stalled limo up the driveway. A hairstylist with an off-beat sense of humor offers her an unusual gift. A world traveler gives her a pair of dolls that a little girl in the Andes Mountains gave him for his future girlfriend. But the party really gets started when one high energy bachelor uncorks a bottle of champagne in the driveway, unleashing a shower of the bubbly.

A lot of the men come prepared to impress, one man attempts to sing his way into Andi’s heart, and one suitor with a sweet tooth treats her to a special cookie tasting. Andi’s instant chemistry with some of the bachelors astonishes her, but the surprises are just starting. Chris Harrison brings out the coveted first impression rose and the men try anything to capture that prize. However, they aren’t aware of another man who is determined to steal Andi’s heart, but is waiting outside the mansion gates. A former Bachelorette cast member is trying to crash the party. This uninvited guest has traveled all the way to Los Angeles with the hope that he will be allowed to join the group of men vying for Andi’s affections. Meanwhile, the competition inside the house heats up. A quirky clothing designer brings her a one-of-a-kind fashion look he sewed just for her, and a pro golfer offers her a putting lesson. But the party crasher awaits and Andi has her first major dilemma of the season -- should he stay or should he be shown the door? And that decision also affects who will get the first impression rose. The jealous, disappointed bachelors can’t believe she ultimately gives this prize to a sincere, humble, unassuming man.

At the end of the evening 19 men will remain to try and become the love of Andi’s life.

A list of bachelors will be released at a later date.

Romantic and adventurous dates will reach new heights this season, testing the men’s perseverance in pursuing their romantic objective, along with fun, exciting and exotic dates that will elicit real and raw passions. An action-packed schedule in Los Angeles and surrounding Southern California begins with an escapade that takes Andi and one bachelor from the hot sandy beaches to the snow-capped mountains all within minutes. A group of the men take the stage for charity with a popular show called “Hollywood Men,” but you won’t believe what they do for a good cause. Santa Anita Race Track is the backdrop for a private concert by “This Wild Life” for Andi and one lucky man, but will it lead to the winners’ circle and a rose? Twelve bachelors get a dream date singing with pop superstars “Boyz II Men” in front of a live audience. Will they all stay on key? Andi and another man enter a time warp where they are aged 50 years with the help of Hollywood make-up magic. Then it is off to Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun where 11 of the men face off against a team of WNBA All Stars.

An excited Bachelorette and her remaining suitors travel to Marseille to begin the European leg of their journey. Amour is certainly in the air when Andi and her first date in France are serenaded by Ben Fields. A sneak peek at a new Walt Disney film, “The Hundred Foot Journey,” about French cuisine prompts Andi and her date to attempt to whip up a French delicacy. Then the group journeys to Italy for the ultimate romantic Venetian experience with a surprise date complete with a gondola ride under the Bridge of Sighs. Andi takes another bachelor to the Verona home of Shakespeare’s “Juliet.” However, the Bachelorette will need to make some of her most important decisions before hometown dates in Belgium, traveling to Brussels and Ghent, where Andi and one happy guy watch a famous goose parade and are treated to a concert by “American Young.” Finally, Andi and the last three men head to a secret exotic location where she will find out what her future holds for her. Is a proposal in store for the prosecuting attorney who put her career on hold, or will love slip through her fingers again?

As in the past, men will continue to be eliminated each week, but if at any point a man should decide that he’s no longer interested in the Bachelorette, he can reject her invitation to continue dating. Some lucky man will meet her family, and she will visit their hometowns for a slice of their lives in an effort to determine the man with whom she is most compatible.

Hosted by Chris Harrison, “The Bachelorette” is a production of Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Alycia Rossiter are the executive producers. “The Bachelor” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 stereo surround sound. A parental guideline will be assigned closer to the airdate.
