I'm thinking the finish line will be at one of the major Hotels on the Strip. I'm thinking either The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo or Caesars Palace.

AFAIK, Joey & Meghan and Brenchel started tweeting after the Race and they were in the Mirage. It might have been either our Finish Line or Final Sequester.

??? The Mirage Casino & Resort is used at a task in Cirque du Soleil Love theatre, in season 15.
Finish Line? Golf course is closed in what time? Possibly closed. Or no. At that time the climate is mild cold and its . It unlikely that finish line is in outdoors, since the weather is too hot humid and mild cold.
The finish line is either in hotel casino conference room or a secret room or a unused room or a suite or the Axis at Planet Hollywood (formerly PH Live, Ph Theatres for the Performing Arts, Theatre for the Performing Arts, Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts)??? I dont know.
Stratosphere? Riviera? Circus Circus? Mirage? Encore? Wynn? Caesars? Paris? Bellagio? Planet Hollywood? MGM? CityCenter? Mandalay Bay? Monte Carlo? Tropicana? Luxor? Excalibur? Flamingo? Venetian? Treasure Island? LVH? Rio All-Suite (The place where Chippies performs)? Ballys? Orleans? Hard Rock? Palms? Golden Nugget? Plaza? Binions? The D? Downtown Grand?

We might have had recycled places too :)

Who knows but I'm just saying, that the exact NIGHT we had our finale was when racers started tweeting and their tweet location (Brenchel,NaNa, YouTube) is all the Mirage. That just can't be a coincidence.

There is also Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  It has lights and is, sort of, out of the way...

The only problem I see with the Hoover Dam is WHERE would the Finish Line Mat be? Could they have it on the top of the Dam, even if it's night?  I think we'll see another indoors Finish Line Mat.

Red Rock Canyon can be scratched off. Way too dangerous for taxis to drive at night due to unlit roads.

RFFers, I think I found a really possible and scenic location for the Finish Line.
Paiute Golf Resort - Wolf Course - Hole 15
http://www.lasvegasgolf.com/departments/coursereviews/las-vegas-paiute-golf-resort-wolf-course-11171.htm

There is a golfing green that resembles an island with a beautiful view of a mountain behind. Teams could ride bicycles to the location by following a lighted trail... or yellow rocks. :funny: Even though everyone has really good predictions, I really think Paiute could be the location we're looking for.

I love your enthusiasm...but we have no evidence for...or against...a golf course location. But keep the spec a-coming!!

Do remember it was quite cold that night...

What about the Palms Resort  (the Real World suite) or the only other possibility that has stuck in my mind is the Chippendales Revue Theatre at the Rio?

Both are in the same area just off I-15 across the interstate from some of the other casino resorts in Vegas.

They could. There's a small sculpture garden area on the Nevada side of the Dam. Problem is that there's a public road on top of the dam, and a few scenic overlook areas, and is in general a public enough place that something would have probably leaked out if the finish line was outdoors there.

They could probably get permits to finish indoor there in the turbine room balcony that Bureau of Reclamation uses for public tours (there's a car commercial that filmed from there not too long ago). It's a speed elevator to get there, and could actually make for a pretty dramatic finish as the elevator opens, the first team sprints onto the balcony and....

The Hoover Dam was used in a two-part episode of Doctor Who during Matt Smith's second season, which also featured the desert in Utah, and exterior scenes in Washington DC. And they managed that outdoor scene in the daytime without any leaks during filming. The other thing is that there is a new bridge for highway traffic over the Colorado River just south of the Dam.

I wasn't aware of the new bridge over the Colorado river below the dam, but that would make it much less likely that filming on the dam would be noticed. I drove over the dam several times in the past and while it was interesting, it was an enormous bottleneck getting into Las Vegas from the south. Hairpin curves on both sides of the dam, slow trucks trying to get around the curves, 1 lane each direction over the top of the dam with a roughly 30 mph (50 kph) speed limit. I have no doubt that the only traffic over the dam these days would be tourists and I doubt many would be there after dark on a cold near freezing evening. The vast bulk of the traffic would be over the new bridge which would probably save 10-15 minutes getting into Las Vegas.

Looking at the new bridge on Google Earth is interesting. It casts an enormous shadow into the canyon below. It looks like the new bridge is still one lane in each direction, but I expect the speed limit is much higher.

Pure speculation, but here are some possible Las Vegas area locations that may have been visited (taking in the fact that no sightings have been come across and it was near night).

To be honest, what makes you think they would REALLY go to a school? I see nothing important about a Trapeze School in Vegas. And I don't think we should be randomly throwing in places from a website named lasvegas.com just my 2 cents  :)

Since there are no sightings, is it possible that the race did another tar 23 type finale and held most if not all of the leg in the rural areas near the city?

Trapeze act.... This was pretty close if I remember correctly. TAR 15 finale

Quote
At the Mirage's Love theater, one team member was harnessed in a bungee cord and
launched by his or her teammate in an attempt to retrieve a bouquet of flowers
dangling in the air. Once the entire bouquet was obtained, they had to hand it
to an actress acting as a flower girl to receive their next clue.

And using a travel page website is a great place to get ideas for tasks, I do it all the time.  :yess:

I love the random sites thrown in by people. that is how we find the racers sometimes. I like to research them too. I thought the night buggies was a possibility, but too hard to keep secret. The trapeze school would be awesome, lots of possibilities there. The dam is awesome too.

I agree and we did have a trapeeze finale episode task in FE in Montreal.
Oh yeah, that's right... Montreal did have a trapeze task. :groan: I was going towards an outdoors or hotel auditorium trapezing act that the people who ran the school could have set up somewhere. Nellis Dunes is still a possibility though.

And we did have a sort of trapeze task the last time the finale was in Vegas. I don't expect them to use the same locations or challenges as the last time.

More speculation of another possible location: Bootleg Canyon
This natural landscape in Boulder City could easily make a unique Finish Line or memory task location with the breathtaking, mountainous views of what the cosmetics-less state of Nevada has to offer. Or in simpler terms, "It's amazing!"

There is a zipline company called Flightlinez who relocated from the now defunct Fremont Street Experience to Bootleg Canyon. Teams could zoom down the canyon to their final task. http://www.flightlinezbootleg.com/

In addition, after finishing the task, teams could be able to ride mountain bicycles on the rugged terrain trails to the Finish Line like back in TAR4. http://www.imba.com/epics/bootleg-canyon-epic
