Is it true they have 12 teams? The last one was in season 15. Isn't Mallory/Brooke confirmed?

The race started this afternoon at Cougar Stadium at College of the Canyons in Valencia.

The UCLA marching band was there to send the teams off.

They played the TAR theme in brass glory.

The destination county is China.  The city is Guangzhou.

Might not be relevant but

As I follow pac 12 college football, UCLA played on Friday night thus CBS was able to use the Bruins marching band today, whereas USC Trojans marching band (which is more distinct with their uniforms) wasn't available as USC played Stanford at home at the coliseum.

Just an observation

Let's talk about the upcoming route, which will likely be a classic four-continent race through 8 countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe.

China has been confirmed as the first destination, which wasn't surprising. The question is will there be two legs in China; I lean towards yes.
I'm also expecting to see India (last visited in TAR 20). This leaves one or two more countries in Asia, probably the Southeast region. Likely candidates are Malaysia, Laos, or Thailand.

There will probably be two legs in one African nation. Rwanda could be a possibility.

Europe is completely up in the air. I don't expect Western Europe; at best Italy (or perhaps Spain) would serve as a penultimate leg. I think we should look at southeastern Europe.

I'm still thinking Brazil might be our penultimate leg, but Italy's nice too <3

I remember I posted in pre-TAR24 Speculation thread way back in October, South Africa has getting possibility a chance to visit there and will have two legs in one African nation (Port Elizabeth and Cape Town; like HaMerotz LaMillion 1, TAR Australia 1 and TAR Ukraine 1). The country was last visited TAR 7 (a long time ago).

Both are beautiful places, Cape Town is really majestic with historic buildings.
http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,29470.msg938993.html#msg938993

Rwanda couldn't visit there due to clashes in neighboring Burundi and Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Probable destination:
North America -> Asia -> Africa -> Europe -> South America -> North America
5 continents, 8 foreign countries with no new countries ala TAR21, TAR22 and TAR23.

I was thinking Chengdu also.

They could go to Hunan or Hainan/Sanya possibly.

They didn't have the U-turn in TAR 11. So no U-turns. They did have the Yield and Eric/Danielle were Yielded twice.

Anyway, is Guangzhou a definite location? Or it's just a transit city to somewhere else?

That's a great idea for an AS season! Though I don't see Nana, Caroline & Jenn, Brenchel and a bunch other teams making history.

I'll put my speculation for the first leg (if they're staying in Guangzhou) here:
- Based on the pattern of 1st episode, which showcasing adrenaline themed task, the location I can only think is Canton Tower, which is the tallest structure in China. Maybe either rappelling up/down, or taking a bungee jump on the tower.
- The next task I speculate is relating with Cantonese opera (in any way that sometimes we can't think of).
- There might be an active Route Marker task.
- Finally, I speculate the Pit Stop location is the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees.

This is my PURE speculation, so this can be incorrect. ;)

Next stop after Guangzhou could have a possibility being  Hong Kong, which is easily accessible by train or ferry or bus.

Why not Shenzhen? Window of the World and Splendid China Folk Village are really good! :)

Yes and Shen Zhen of course. But Shen Zhen and Guang Zhou are VERY VERY similar industrial cities so I'm not sure... Hong Kong and Macau on the other hand offer a totally different type of city landscape. They haven't been to Macau since Allstars (?) and Hong Kong since TAR 17.. anywhere is possible! :)

Maybe Cambodia after the first leg or second? Phnom Penh or Siem Reap- they haven't visited it in awhile (I'm thinking Vietnam won't be visited since they did it 2 seasons ago)

If they visit Hong Kong I have a few friends who live there that I regularly communicate on email with.

One of my mates is in Phnom Penh right now as a teacher chaperone for student trip till Saturday.

Likelyhood is that they will stay in the same country for two legs, noticing a trend this season (Chile for 2 legs, then UAE for 2 legs and Indonesia for the upcoming 2 legs after tomorrow's episode)-

Just pure spec.

Since I *once again* wrongly posted in the live sightings thread, I'll repost this here. :P

Quote
I can't see the cowboys at all in there? I dont think there on
The Cowboys were there; they were standing just a few feet from me in the food court chatting with Connor. My camera only produces 40 min. of video so I concentrated on the teams I didn't know. (I should have brought a normal camera; people were taking cellphone pictures with/of the racers and production didn't pester them  :groan:)
Slowhatch, did you see Mallory with her teammate? :)

I'm thinking a double leg in China - maybe a KOR leg 1 a la UB? Start in Guangzhou and then most likely head to either Macau, Hong Kong or Chengdu for leg 2 before heading south to either Malaysia, Thailand or Laos (let's hope for the very latter!) before flying to India
