Can't say much else about the caps but I'm interested in this leg...

Brand new location for I believe the entire franchise of The Amazing Race. I don't recall any other version of it going to Curazao.

Hope they make them interact with the locals, especially if it involves selfdriving because I think Spanish is not the main language of Curazao, it looks like Braian&Karina and Tobias&Ezequiel might be getting lost.

That paramedic simulation is kind of weird but ok? I guess...

I don't understand the surfing board task, in some caps we can see the entire team on it and in other we can see only one of them doing it... weird...

It seems both teams from Argentina dislike each other after the race.

If you remember the second leg beginning, they both stated that the other Argentinian team was their biggest enemy at the race.

Braian in his facebook page talked about the last leg and how they had a lot of problems with the taxis (we didn't see a lot of that), and he made some bad comments about Tobias and Ezequiel.

For what I've been reading, Dario (don't know about Esther) is not a fan either of Tobias&Ezequiel... I actually remember Dario talking about how they were always complaining in one of the taxi rides in the last leg.

FROM THE SHADOWS

One of the producers of "The Amazing Race" told in first person impressions of the most extreme race on the continent.

EPISODE 5

Lima, Perú
Today's hashtag: #doblepartida

Lima offered the second episode on Peruvian soil and another chapter full of emotion. The challenges proposed using both patience and skill and physical effort, especially in two "hinge" moments to excel physically. The first, and perhaps the hardest, took the nine remaining couples to visit an Army paratrooper school in that country, the Military School of Chorrillos, where he had to carry bags of 15 kg and training disciplines like climbing a wall, descend from a helicopter, or leap wearing parachuting gear into the void simulating a professional jump. The better prepared physically were able to adjust in good time, the important fact was that Pierre and Manfred of Costa Rica, who came second, surpassed the leaders, until then, Jorge and Evelyn from Colombia.
Who suffered the costs of the physical exertion previously made were Mexicans Juan José and Gilberto, clearly damaged by what was done in Iquitos. Another hard physically challenge was rowing a boat on the beach of Arenillas, both Juan Jóse adn Gilberto as Brazilian Renata and Deborah, now recovered from his penalty for being last in the previous episode, could not overcome. Surprised that the girls will not succeed being in good shape. But apparently, they were not as good in faith.

In this place also gave that the Patagonian Ezequiel Tobías overturned their boat and lost a prized second place with Costa Ricans. Approaching the Pit Stop, the ultimate test would lead to a high school kitchen to taste some dishes and guess the ingredients. It is clear that Lima offers one of the best cuisines in the world and we can attest that it is. In that place there were two opposite situations. On the one hand, the Venezuelan Jessica and Michelle made a pact a bit uneven for the Colombian Alejandra and Astrid. They exchanged data that left unresolved for the sisters this last test and sent the Caracas girls to the Pit Stop. Some people think they do not played fair, but they did not break any rules and I think they are who best understood that this is a competition.

The other situation, quite the opposite. Juan José and Gilberto felt that, though exceeded that test their physical damage was too great to be able to withstand another episode. From there, they "confessed" to the Argentinians Braian & Karina and what were the ingredients of the dishes. Many nobility. The "porteños" could not resolve the challenge and without such aid would probably have been gone.

The pitstop was located in the most important archaeological pyramid San Isidro district, Huaca Huallamarca. Toya spotted arriving first again to Colombians Jorge and Evelyn, but should penalize them for doing wrong the first challenge of the day, the making of a flag of Amazing Race at the Gamarra market. Fifteen minutes of penalty for them. This gave a chance for the top spot left in the hands of Costa Ricans Pierre and Manfred, winning the the episode for the first time. After the 15 minutes, Bogota's pair finished second, continuing with their excellent performance. Third came the Patagonian Ezequiel Tobías increasingly recovered and surprising. The Uruguayans Darius and Esther in a comfortable fourth. Behind them the Venezuelan Jessica and Michelle and a few minutes, the Brazilian Renata and Deborah. Pause. Beyond reach sixths, the Paulists had to pay two hours for not doing the test of rowing plus 30 minutes to do the flag task wrong. Long time. Enough for Medellin sister to catch up, who also paid one hour for failing to test the food, but even so came seventh, behind Karina and Braian, scared and believing come out last. The Mexicans suffered the same fate in penalization than the Brazilian and could not avoid being eliminated.

That was it. Double elimination, which is unusual for The Amazing Race leaves us with seven teams to continue the race.  Of course the thrill was there again. The two eliminated teams couldn't help get excited for what they lived and the experience carried through this journey.

We are almost halfway through competition and the program is getting more and more vibrant. We're leaving Peru and feel that this rises more and more every time. Until next time and thanks to all!

This sounds interesting, too bad we didn't watch it because. For what we know Jessica&Michelle are very competitive but I can't see them stoping another team on purpose

OK? I saw something completely different. 15 minutes but because of the backpack placements... If this is a behind the scenes sort of thing, WHY would this be wrong... This is just dumb.

I feel sad because...

I LOVE THE SHOW. I WANT IT TO BE AMAZING. I WANT IT TO BE AT THE SAME LEVEL AS ANY OF THE OTHER VERSIONS FROM CANADA OR USA.

But. Why not? Why is it so hard?

Is is the lack of a more competitive or physically able cast? Is it the production doing a bad job at managing the money? Is it a lack of creativity in the production? Is it because we don't have a better channel that airs in every country of latin-america? Is people not watching it? why is it? I really don't get it.

I think we have the locations to show the world how beautiful and interesting is latin-america and I think production is doing an OK job at it but it could be so much better.

Yes. And I know that this could sound as a joke at some point, but many of the TAR game host here (and put me out of the group in this case) have been able to do a better job designing legs for their games or the different seasons from TARDC on our continent. I always say - referring to the US version - that they should take a look on our game board. Well the same concept applies for TARLA.

Regarding the network issues... The first season here was aired on an air channel besides Discovery - in one of the four majors networks on Saturday's evenings - and ratings were not good, I must say they were terrible, bottom list. And producers were also responsibles for what happened because with the exception of the TAR fans base, nobody else had - and have - any idea of what is the show about (I also blame AXN for this for stopping the broadcast after TAR12 - at least here in Argentina -).

Same here, I can't tell you if it was succesful or not (I'm guessing it wasn't). But in this I blame first the audience of Chile, with every show now the only way to make it interesting for people to watch is to have some sort of celebrity on it. Every prime time show here it has a cast of B and C list of celebrities. And the rest of the day the peak of the hour is talkshows about this B and C list celebrities. The other thing that I blame is the lack of promotion, NOBODY care that Ferna&Fran made it to the last leg on season 1, the air channel NEVER talked about the show, it would just start out of nowhere. Nicolas&Cristobal won season 3 and all they got out of the press was a 1/4 of an article in a national newspaper. That's it.

I know a lot of people who saw The Amazing Race on AXN, me included and then they just stop airing it at some point and I personally lost track of it until Season 15 when youtube was starting to be a thing for me and somehow found it on it.

I wonder if the main problem of TARLA has to do in how teams are "representing" their country, and the amount of emphasis the editing show about how the argentinians, the colombians or whatever, instead of making it more about the history behind every racer, I don't what makes this cast race? I feel like I don't know them and maybe that is why I'm not interested in this cast at all. I don't care who wins. I want the people complaining to go home, but I'm not rooting for anyone in particular. Maybe Jessica&Michelle but only because they are a competent F/F team.

Well, nobody knew that Tamara & Matías won the race here either, with the exception of a couple of little articles in a couple places and, of course, the TAR fans. And the only publicity I remember since TARLA began was a huge cartel on a corner in downtown Buenos Aires during the previous weeks before TARLA3 started.

I know a lot of people who saw The Amazing Race on AXN, me included and then they just stop airing it at some point and I personally lost track of it until Season 15 when youtube was starting to be a thing for me and somehow found it on it.

Same here, I watched TAR13 & 14 on YouTube and then I found a site who has posted all the seasons, and every week add the new episode with different uploaders. Until TAR19 was the only way I could see the race.

I wonder if the main problem of TARLA has to do in how teams are "representing" their country, and the amount of emphasis the editing show about how the argentinians, the colombians or whatever, instead of making it more about the history behind every racer, I don't what makes this cast race? This is particular from TARLA. I'd have to recheck it, but I don't remember TAR Asia having this kind of edition based on nationalities and the confrontation between one each other based on this factor. TAR Asia worked very well on this aspect, I don't understand why can't do it TARLA.

TARLA is cheap. A Latin American production company has nowhere near the same budget the bigger TARs have. Just look at the amount of tasks featuring the sponsors' products. They just don't have the money to compete with the other editions.

Another example, the final challenge of Season 1: it was to put together cardboard cutouts. Then look at the third Colombian leg this season, they just went to two parks and hung out and did pretty much irrelevant tasks like decoding flags and climbing a rock wall. They even had to have three legs in a row with no Detour.

If TARAus was a hodgepodge of tasks recycled from other editions, this one is more like a home-made version.
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

Also, funny note:

A friend let me know that Beto (fron Juanjo y Beto, the "smaller" one) participated in the Mexican version of The Biggest Loser
http://series.canalspace.tv/mexico/the-amazing-race/equipos-09.php
http://www2.esmas.com/cuanto-quieres-perder/equipo-rojo/000782/ivan-moron-participante-cuanto-quieres-perder

When they were rowing at the Amazon river Juanjo complained that Beto took him on the show against his will. That makes me think that they were probably recruited.

Also, according to my friend, Beto looks like he got back all the weight that he lost.

Clue: Travel to Willemstaad. Once there go to the Wilhemina Park and pick one parked car. You've got 40usd.

Manfred & Pierre first at the cars. Clue: Go to the Queen Juliana Bridge.

Most of the cab drivers speaks spanish as a secondary language.

Eze & Tobias and Evelyn & Jorge get their cars.

Costa Ricans at the bridge: RB: descend doing rappel from the top of the bridge.

Pierre is doing it. They excited because they usually do this.

Friends get the next clue: go to the Caracasbaaiweg roundabout.

Tobías is doing the RB. So is Evelyn.

Second RB at the roundabout: Who's the most heroic? Paddle to rescue a person and bring it back to safety. They must travel to a club first to do the task.

Michelle do the RB. Esther perfoms it.

Manfred & Pierre at the club. Manfred is doing the second RB.

Esther is scared of doing the rappel.

And we're back.

Esther is descending despite her fear. Screaming but is going down. Dario supports her from the top of the bridge.

At the second RB, Pierre has the people to be rescued.

Ezequiel and Jorge does the second RB. They have to go to the Windsor Club.

Costa Ricans friends has their next clue: go to the CBA studio television and be the anchors reading a notice. Once done, they will receive their following clue.

At the bridge, Karina is doing the rappel. Aleja does it too.

Manfred & Pierre are at the studio. They are reading the news, not before asking about their accent. BTW they're reading at the camera as robots.

Jessica & Michelle perform the second RB.

Jorge & Ezequiel have their people to rescue, although Jorge fall to the water first.

Jorge & Evelyn car is broken.
