TAR27:

Leg 3 Horse or Carriage Detour
Leg 7 Ship or Skip Detour
Leg 9 Cans or Candy Detour
Leg 11 Roadblock in Macau

Some of the tasks this season are nice, but compared to other seasons, this one feels like average or below average. I would prioritize some of my previous switchback wishes over this.

Nothing from TAR27 deserves mention of any switchback. What an atrocious season.

It would be interesting to have a switchback-themed season with all (or at least most) of the tasks being repeated from past seasons.

I really don't like Switchbacks because everytime we've had one, it has failed catastrophically (best done was TAR27 and even that was stretching it).

I do like though, some fun nice little touches to earlier seasons locations (the TAR3 Switzerland Fountain on 28 <3 Mika on the water slide lol <3), but nothing overboard like repeating tasks.

You know what they say, repetition of things you already know is pointless and lazy.

That said, we need another #WatermelonGate-esque task to go viral. Really.

It'd be interesting to see a switchback in an all-star season wherein a returnee team who performed the task before was eliminated by it.

For example:
Tiffany & Krista and the Leg 11 Roadblock in Macau
Cameron & Darius and the Leg 3 "Adrianna" Roadblock :funny:
Zach & Rachel and the Leg 9 Salt Roadblock
Tim & TeJay and the Leg 8 Pole Detour in Malta (as a roadblock? :grins: )

I'd expect teams to do better if they encounter a switchback task they had troubles with before, unless they're a Mika-esque racer. :ascared

I would love to see the Malta pole as a roadblock if they go back. (Please do)

TAR28:
Colombia 2 Roadblock
Geneva Detour
Armenia Detour
Georgia Detour
Georgia Roadblock
UAE Racing with Camels Detour (as a Fast Forward)
China Roadblock (as a Final Task)
China Electric Unicycles Detour (as a Roadblock)

My main wishes are still:
TAR22's Sandcastle Roadblock
TAR17's Watermelon Roadblock

My list of desired "Switchbacks"- Okay, these are more along the lines of flashbacks like Mika's waterslide tantrum, but I would love to see how a newer group of teams would handle some situations from a few years to a decade or more ago.

I nominate:
Season 1: A return to the Sahara Desert (Paul & Amie were hopelessly lost in the middle ofnowheree with only a grain of luck to help them find the Pit Stop oasis and not a mirage)
Season 2: The fatigue-curing tea concoction (Dragged a caring Mary & a nauseous Peach down to tears and exhaustion in Hong Kong)
Season 5: Eating a giant bowl of caviar (The fish eggs sent Nicole into "restaurant clinic" and proved to be Charla's incredible feat)
Season 6: Consuming spicy Hungarian fishermen's soup (Degraded Jonathan to eating his own vile and made more than 10 million Americans turn their head away from the TV)
Season 11: "C U, wouldn't want to B U" mail (Mirna caught the infamous lead against the destined-to-win Rob & Amber at this Roadblock and took them down "singlehandedly" without a Yield or sabotage)
Season 12: Respect the donkey (Carried Ari & Staella's lead down to the first elimination of the season)
Season 15:
• Farmers' Game and Farmers' Dance (As both Detour options required brawn in the circumstance, Maria & Tiffany were left in shambles after going back-and-forth only to find out they failed miserably)
• FRANZ (Flight Time was put on hold and dropped in this telecommunication Roadblock that confused him out of the final three)
Season 17: "They Don't Call It 'The Amazing Race' for Nothin'" (Claire was almost sent to the ER in this catastrophic catapult malfunction)
Season 20: The Bollywood dancer disaster (Bopper spent an incredibly dedicated amount of time just to master a dance that even a sacrificial Fast Forward couldn't save them in the following leg)
<3 Family, friends, food, freedom...FULFILLED <3
Countries "raced": Greece (2019), Italy (2017), Switzerland (2017), Taiwan (2016), U.S. (WA 2013, CA [S.F. 2014, L.A. 2023], TX 2021, IL all the time)

A task similar to TAR11's letter-searching task should return for a future all-star season. :conf:

There should of course be more switchbacks about the early seasons but that's unlikely to happen. Production doesn't care about honoring its early seasons since it pretends the show started in 2009, 2001.

5 of the 6 Switchbacks have been from pre-2009 seasons, including the last two

They made a couple of token references...not a big deal. And the last switchback reference this past season to the infamous S15 Dubai waterfall.

It is amazing that no one broke anything. The not SAFE comment was totally accurate. Scary!

Technically not a switchback, but it's still a recycled task.

I'd really love to see TARA5's Leg 6 detour in Vigan once again.  :hearts: Making longganisa (Vigan sausages) while riding a kalesa (Philippine chariot) and singing Tatlong Bibe (local nursery song) in Ilokano (Philippine dialect) was really fun to watch while also challenging the teams. :hrt:

I would like to see TAR Asia 1's Roadblock in Indoesnia, when they had to dig for the surfboard in the sand.
It was just  :funny: to watch the teams do it!
