One thing to keep in mind is that tourists and visitors fall off the global grid in Myanmar, so it is possible for the Race to slip in and out without contemporaneous eyewitness accounts. We'd only see something once visitors were outside the country, and regain access to the internet.

I will not give up on Myanmar! It's too exciting  :cheer:

What if they went to Myanmar, but they didn't have a pit stop, and they only did a roadblock/detour and/or miscellaneous task? They've done it before (Tar 14 leg 2; Tar 18 leg 9; Tar 9 leg 6; & Tar 7 finale).

So maybe the route will go like this:

Leg 7: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Leg 8: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Leg 9: Abu Dhabi UAE --> Yangon, Myanmar --> Bandung, Indonesia

I really hope Myanmar is visited- they haven't (technically) visited any new countries since Tar 20! (French Polynesia is a territory of France & Northern Ireland is part of the UK). It's making me mad  :gaah:

Apparently there are two Padaungs in Myanmar- one is a small village in the north, home to the Kayan ethnic group {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padaung_(village)}. The other is in central Myanmar, about halfway between Yangon & Nay Pyi Taw (I looked Padaung up on Google Earth and I found this one)- the one in central Myanmar is home to a couple of temples, but noting else major, at least that I could see.

On June 27th a facebook page by the name of "Beauty of Myanmar" posted the following:

"Amazing Race in Myanmar namely "PADAUNG". Have you been seen to them?"

June 26, possibly a local thing?

From what I understand, if they visited Myanmar, it would be leg 8, replacing the second leg in Abu Dhabi. But this is all spec, and should go in the spec thread.

Anthony Boundain's CNN series went to Myanmar for its first season which just finished airing and was filmed a few months ago; and he mentioned that all foreign tourist travel is limited to a triangular area in the center of the country, so the Padaung that's near Yangon, is most likely the location that TAR would have gone to as between those two locations.
Again, I realize we haven't confirmed this as part of a leg, but it does help refine the potential locations that might have been visited.

I was in Myanmar a few years back and wasn't sure of the extent of tourist travel or commercial filming, but the major tourist areas are in a kite shape from Yangon to Taunggyi to Mandalay to Bagan. If I were a producer and got to go to Myanmar, though, I would definitely milk it and make two legs out of it!

It's possible to use Facebook there via proxy, but you need to find an internet cafe that knows how to get around the blocks.

I'm at the ready!

If you need me to get to SFO, try and give me some advanced notice... it takes a while to get up there, especially if it's during rush hour traffic... (1 hour plus, depending)

SJC is just up the freeway from me (remote possibility) and should only take 15 minutes

Fingers crossed that they return to the Bay!

If Juneau, AK Mendenhall Glacier and pan for gold. A good route point going up the mountain in a gondola.

There is apparently a section called Blueberry Hill in Juneau. From the looks of it, it'd be a good place to finish or at least have a final task.

Every image I've seen of Juneau today looked wet, so I imagine it's been raining all day there. It's not surprising for that area.

Do we know that TAR went to the zipline at Hoonah? From this tweet

Dawn Cavanaugh ‏@Loving_alaska 49m
Over run by tv camera crews around here in the past 16 hours. The amazing race and a small crew filming the Zipline in Hoonah.

I got the impression that The Amazing Race is around the area and a separate production is filming the Zipline at Hoonah.

However, a zipline would be something I'd expect to see on the finale, so maybe you all are right.

Based on this picture from Google Maps, I would guess that teams got to Hoonah via helicopter.

Chateau has the 2 airlines that fly in there documented, but helicopters are always nice?
