Don't we also have proof that the football players, bingo guys, & metalheads survive leg 1? (football players & metalheads were spotted in Santiago, and bingo players were spotted at the leg 1 pit stop chatting with the the african-american M/F couple, with the football guys checking in behind them, so we know they already checked in)

Phil tweeted this about 4 mins ago:

In a fog of #Jetlag gave check in the wrong destination city too long without rem sleep ... or a bike ride:)

Jetlag = long trip?

Where ever Phil is.........this was posted to Twitter at 3:56pm Central Daylight Time.

I would guess this wasn't from an Asian country. Don't think he will tweet 4-5 am. What do you think?

What does Phil mean by wrong destination city? Jet lag could have you tweeting at any time, night or day.
Maybe is a long/ double leg. Who could substitute for Phil at a pit stop or maybe contestants would have to reappear to be checked in by Phil.
I love that he tweets while on the race.

It could mean that Phil's flight was diverted to another airport due to weather conditions, medical issues onboard etc. So now he is in a wrong city with a jet leg. What you think about that theory? Do you know where we can check todays diverted flights?

I interpret "gave check in the wrong destination city" as "I was at the airport checking in and I told the counter staff the wrong destination city." So he's at the airport right now, off to prepare the next leg!

Which could mean no Africa, because of recent trends of having double legs in Africa.

Also because Africa wouldn't give him a jet-lag? Africa ranges from +0 (West coast) to +4 (Indian Ocean islands). Poland was at +2. Austria was at +2.

Will put some flight analysis over in the Transport thread, but I'm ruling out Nepal. Sorry guys!

It's also possible that his "jet lag" isn't jet lag from traveling across several time zones as most of us think of it.  He might be using it as a figure of speech or descriptive phrase for how he is feeling.  It could just be that he is really tired from all the travel.  While I'm sure he has a higher tolerance for it than most who don't travel as frequently, I doubt it's easy.

Phil has always been very precise in his twitter posting, especially when he posts while filming. He takes great pains to not "lie" to his followers. His posts are "obtuse" enough to require careful thought to decipher his meaning. I have no doubt that if Phil says he is "jet lagged," then he has crossed enough time zones to really affect his rest cycle.

If a person flies 8,10, or 12 hours, you will be fatigued when you arrive. If one was flying N/S, then you arrive in the same approximate time in the sun cycle as when you left. If you fly to the east, then you have all those hours PLUS the hours for all the time zones you fly across. So you could arrive at you destination, feeling like you have been flying 12, 14 or 16 hours, with respect to the sun cycle.

One of these assumptions must be false:

1. Phil says he's jet-lagged, and hence he can't be in Africa or the Middle East (all less than 2 hours difference).
2. Phil tweeting in the wee hours of South Asia, when there are no good flights except backwards, so he can't be there.
3. No one has sighted them, which means they're not in East or Southeast Asia. (Laos doesn't work flight-wise.)

Can we figure out which one is a bad assumption?

Could it just be that he is fatigued from the overall race route?

It has required quite a bit of travelling and flights to get to certain locations (Northern Chile, Northern Norway), and there has been a lot of bouncing North and South.

Add the fact that he was travelling around France a week or two before.

I think that it may just be the overall jetlag and fatigue catching up to him (aka I believe they were in the Middle East these past couple days)

Maybe Phil went to Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan. ??? It's possible for jet lag when making numerous connecting flights. Thinking Austria - Northern Middle East..,

It probably is. The way it seems to work is Phil arrives at the next destination today and teams tomorrow.

Not if he was on the move yesterday, teams should be moving today. I hope!

I am thinking somewhere where TAR is remotely unpopular or unheard of. Mongolia? Bhutan? Really remotely unheard of countries in Asia which explains the lack of spoilers and sightings.

Mongolia is absolutely not unheard of. Bhutan along Nepal are tops on our wishing list. But true unexpected countries at this time in the far east are the Principality of Mustang and the Kingdom of Sikkim.

If you can't find them there, please let us know, we will move over, then.
